July 31, 2014 (Thursday)
6:30 PM - 7:45 PM
Our Town is a once-a-month conversation with people who are engaged in significant issues and topics in "our town." The program held in a conversation format with Dr. Carol Mickett, a philosopher and artist, explores the life as well as the projects and engagements of the guests. The program expanded from a focus on local mythmakers to a broader profile, and has included such notables as Jyotika Virmani, Associate Director for the Florida Institute of Oceanography, St. Petersburg and Eric Deggans of Tampa Bay Times, Chef Tom Pritchard, and technology entrepreneur Marvin Scaff.
David Warner is editor-in-chief of Creative Loafing. During his 10 year tenure, the paper and its website (cltampabay.com) have won multiple national and regional awards for political coverage, cultural criticism, column writing, and design. He has created special issues devoted to local artists, innovators, restaurants, neighborhoods, food, music and the paper’s popular Best of the Bay issue. Mr. Warner is also editor of Creative Loafing’s newest publication, Ask the Locals, a guide to Tampa Bay from the perspective of notable residents.
David Warner is originally from Cape Cod, has worked as a grade school teacher, a director, an actor, and lived for many years in Philadelphia, where he was editor of the Philadelphia City Paper. David lives in Historic Roses Park with his husband and well-known political go-to-person Larry Biddle.
