"After a United Nations-run school sheltering more than 3,000 Palestinians was shelled early Wednesday, UN official Chris Gunness could not contain his grief while on camera with Al Jazeera Arabic. "The rights of Palestinians, and even their children, are wholesale denied... and it's appalling," Gunness, spokesman for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), told Al Jazeera Arabic from Jerusalem. The interviewer appears to thank him for appearing, upon which Gunness breaks down and weeps. Gaza's Ministry of Health said at least 17 people were killed and 90 wounded by the school shelling. Denis Mukwege is the founder and medical director of Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo and a life-long advocate for women's empowerment in the DRC. In 1998 he established the Panzi Hospital in an effort to lower the country's maternal mortality rate by providing improved medical care for women. Since then, Dr. Mukwege has expanded his focus, and now provides urgently needed care to victims of sexual violence. Beyond surgical and medical treatment, the Panzi Hospital focuses on psychological services, reintegration and economic empowerment, and access to justice for survivors. The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace & Security's goal in undertaking Profiles in Peace: Oral Histories Project is to collect unique, first-hand interviews from women and men who are leaders in optimizing the agency of women, peace, security and post-conflict reconstruction. The Profiles in Peace project is an opportunity to formally capture best practices and lessons learned, in an easily distributable and interactive format, and thereby share stories that often go untold or unrecorded. Videos are meant to serve as a tool for research, training, bridge-building and recording.

There is a group where actually, as you say, they're not worth the full wage.' Is that his view?" M/S David Cameron, British Prime Minister taking stand SOT, Ed Miliband, Labour Party leader (English): "He didn't just say that disabled people weren't worth the minimum wage, he went further and he said and I quote, he was looking at - and I quote - 'whether there's something we can do if someone wants to work for two pounds an hour.' Mr Speaker, surely someone holding those views can't possibly stay in his government." M/S Cameron rises SOT, David Cameron, British Prime Minister, (English): "The minimum wage is paid to everybody, disabled people included." M/S John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons, asks to hear Prime Minister's answer SOT, David Cameron, British Prime Minister, (English): "And I tell you, I don't need lectures from anyone about looking after disabled people, so I don't want to hear any more of that." W/S House of Commons W/S House of Commons SCRIPT: Leader of the opposition Ed Miliband caused high tensions in the House of Commons, Wednesday, when he asked the British Prime Minister David Cameron why the Conservative welfare reform minister Lord Freud said that disabled people were 'not worth' the minimum of £6.50 (€8.12/$10.37) an hour. He went on to quote the welfare minister speculating about finding people with disabilities willing to work for £2.00 per hour (€2.50/$3.19). Prime Minister David Cameron responded that 'the minimum wage is paid to everybody, disabled people included,' also claiming that he didn't need lectures on looking after disabled people. Cameron was referring to his son Ivan who died in 2009 following complications related to cerebral palsy and severe epilepsy. Cameron emphasised that Lord Freud's comments do not reflect Conservative party policy. Cameron is due to have a meeting with Freud before deciding what to do. Lord Freud has since apologised for his comments. COURTESY OF: US NAVY WASHINGTON (AP) — Combined U.S.-Arab airstrikes hit Islamic State military strongholds in Syria and Iraq, and a simultaneous U.S. strike targeted an al-Qaida cell said to be plotting direct assaults on American and other Western interests, the U.S. military said Tuesday. President Barack Obama declared that Arab support for the airstrikes "makes it clear to the world this is not America's fight alone." General Assembly in New York. Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, the top American military official, said the U.S. and its Arab allies achieved their aim of showing the extremists that their attacks will not go unanswered. The U.S. and five Arab nations attacked the Islamic State group's headquarters in eastern Syria in nighttime raids Monday using land- and sea-based U.S. aircraft as well as Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from two Navy ships in the Red Sea and the northern Persian Gulf. "These strikes were very successful," said Rear Admiral John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary. In Syria, activists said the trikes hit targets in and around the city of Raqqa and the province with the same name. Raqqa is the Islamic State group's self-declared capital in Syria. Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told The Associated Press, "There is confirmed information that there are casualties among Islamic State group members." Raw: Aftermath of Airstrikes in SyriaPlay videoRaw: Aftermath of Airstrikes in Syria The strikes weren't coordinated with the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad, said Kirby, the Pentagon spokesman, but he added: "There was no resistance, no interaction with Syrian air forces or military defenses." Apparently trying to position his government on the side of the airstrikes, Assad said Tuesday that he supported any international effort against terrorism. He spoke during a meeting with Faleh al-Fayadh, an envoy of Iraq's prime minister. American warplanes also carried out eight airstrikes to disrupt what the military described as "imminent attack plotting against the United States and Western interests" by the shadowy Khorosan Group, a network of al-Qaida veterans working with the Yemeni branch of al-Qaida, known as Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, to get foreign fighters with Western passports and explosives to target U.S. aviation. Obama said the U.S. was "proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder" with Arab partners, and he called the roll: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain and Qatar. Dempsey called the strikes an unprecedented coalition with Arab states and said the partnering had set the stage for a broader international campaign against the extremists. US air strikes have helped push back IS in the town near the Turkish border. Correspondents say the airdrops are likely to anger key US ally Turkey. The drops of supplies provided by Kurdish authorities in Iraq were "intended to enable continued resistance against Isil's attempts to overtake Kobane," CentCom said in a statement. It's a milestone in the quest to find better treatments for intestinal diseases. It could someday lead to replacement organs grown from a person's own cells. Michael Helmrath, MD, MS, surgical director of the Intestinal Rehabilitation Program at Cincinnati Children’s, describes how researchers have successfully grown human intestinal tissue in mice, creating an unprecedented model for studying diseases of the intestine. Reporting their results Oct. 19 in Nature Medicine, the scientists said through additional translational research, the findings could eventually lead to bioengineering personalized human intestinal tissue to treat gastrointestinal diseases.

Whether dismissed as a relic or revered as a savior, all agree that Fidel Castro, nearing 44 years as the leader of Cuba, is one of the most influential and controversial figures of our time. Rarely are Americans given a chance to see inside the world of this socialist leader. The new documentary film FIDEL by Estela Bravo offers a unique opportunity to view the man through exclusive interviews with Castro himself, historians, public figures and close friends, with rare footage from the Cuban State archives. Alice Walker, Harry Belafonte, and Sydney Pollack discuss Fidel as a person, while former and current US government figures including Arthur Schlesinger, Ramsey Clark, Wayne Smith, Congressman Charles Rangel and a former CIA agent offer political and historical perspectives on Castro and the long-standing US embargo against Cuba. Family members and close friends, including Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez, offer a window into the rarely seen personal life of Fidel.

Denis Mukwege is the founder and medical director of Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo and a life-long advocate for women\'s empowerment in the DRC. In 1998 he established the Panzi Hospital in an effort to lower the country\'s maternal mortality rate by providing improved medical care for women. Since then, Dr. Mukwege has expanded his focus, and now provides urgently needed care to victims of sexual violence. Beyond surgical and medical treatment, the Panzi Hospital focuses on psychological services, reintegration and economic empowerment, and access to justice for survivors.

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace & Security\'s goal in undertaking Profiles in Peace: Oral Histories Project is to collect unique, first-hand interviews from women and men who are leaders in optimizing the agency of women, peace, security and post-conflict reconstruction. The Profiles in Peace project is an opportunity to formally capture best practices and lessons learned, in an easily distributable and interactive format, and thereby share stories that often go untold or unrecorded. Videos are meant to serve as a tool for research, training, bridge-building and recording.

Researchers at Cincinnati Children\'s have found a way to successfully grow human intestinal tissue in mice.

It\'s a milestone in the quest to find better treatments for intestinal diseases.

It could someday lead to replacement organs grown from a person\'s own cells.
