Switzerland (German: die Schweiz[ˈʃvaɪts]; French: Suisse [sɥis(ə)]; Italian: Svizzera [ˈzvit͡sːɛra]; Romansh: Svizra [ˈʒviːtsrɐ] or [ˈʒviːtsʁːɐ]), in its full name the Swiss Confederation (Latin: Confoederatio Helvetica, hence its abbreviation CH), is a federal republic consisting of 26 cantons, with Bern as the seat of the federal authorities. The country is situated in western Europe, where it is bordered by Germany to the north, France to the west, Italy to the south, and Austria and Liechtenstein to the east.
Switzerland is a landlocked country geographically divided between the Alps, the Swiss Plateau and the Jura, spanning an area of 41,285 km2 (15,940 sq mi). While the Alps occupy the greater part of the territory, the Swiss population of approximately 8 million people is concentrated mostly on the Plateau, where the largest cities are to be found. Among them are the two global cities and economic centres of Zurich and Geneva.
The Swiss Confederation has a long history of armed neutrality—it has not been in a state of war internationally since 1815—and did not join the United Nations until 2002. It pursues, however, an active foreign policy and is frequently involved in peace-building processes around the world. Switzerland is also the birthplace of the Red Cross and home to a large number of international organizations, including the second largest UN office. On the European level, it is a founding member of the European Free Trade Association and is part of the Schengen Area – although it is notably not a member of the European Union, nor the European Economic Area.
I am drawn by intrigue,
Could I ever live in Switzerland?
Could I ever please any number of secret societies?
This isn't Socrates,
It's not the roots of ancient trees,
Maybe disease,
The secret of secret societies
Should I go to Yale like my father's father's fathers?
I can cite examples,
Visions planted, superimposed,
If I can smell the trees can I smell the industry?
What's to beliefs?
I lose track of my many adversaries
they catch wind of whatever I say
my whole life's getting awfully precursory
and maybe it's time I meandered away
because life is a mean one
I've only seen one sky
and it's not so grand
since that's all that I know
I'm changing the flow
I'm going to Switzerland
they make watches and chocolate and army knives
and that's all that I actually know
I don't care, I don't want to considerize
the tiny details, I'm just ready to go
because life is a mean one
I've only seen one sky
and it's not so grand
since that's all that I know
I'm changing the flow
I'm going to Switzerland
because life is a mean one
I've only seen one sky
and it's not so grand
since that's all that I know
I'm changing the flow
I'm going to Switzerland
Switzerland
Switzerland
Switzerland
Switzerland
step aside, I'm going Switzerland
nobody knows me there, I'm going Switzerland
I'm going Switzerland, Switzerland
Switzerland, Switzerland
step aside, I'm going Switzerland
nobody knows me there, I'm going Switzerland
I'm going Switzerland, Switzerland
Switzerland, Switzerland
Switzerland
I'll be living in Switzerland
yes I will be living in Switzerland
I'll be living in Switzerland
yes I will living in Switzerland
I'll be living in Switzerland
yes I will be living in Switzerland
I'll be living in Switzerland
yes in Switzerland
Switzerland
Switzerland
Switzerland

Tonight I took the long way home. I walked around this world just to see if when I got home if I could fall asleep. Am I supposed to feel like this? I'm falling through my fingertips, another day. Another chance fades away. We cried and ocean, we'll drown ourselves in it. Slowly the air disappears. I never thought that drowning could feel so good. The summer nights are feeling so far, this night seem so cold this night seems so familiar, that it's true. It's been five months straight, it felt so far way. I'm on the edge now, and looking down on things. Will I let them kill me? Or smile? Like I think I will, the ground will feel lovely.
Jacob please don't go
I love you, I do
I'd follow your tracks through the snow just to find you
It's true
Cause I am Switzerland
The neutral starts here
I'm gray matter
Between a field of red
and a river of sun
I am content to be in the middle of my two loves
Edward can't you see
I'd die without you here
I'd cease to exist
So never let me go
Promise oh dear
I know you'll always be here
Cause I am Switzerland
The neutral starts here
I'm gray matter
Between a field of red
And a river of sun
I am content to be in the middle of my two loves
Why can't I have both?
Why do I have to choose?
They're both a part of me
Now they're both singing the blues
Cause I am Switzerland
The neutral starts here
I'm gray matter
Between a field of red
And a river of sun
I don't know how to say
and if you can't go my way
my blood is sparkling in my head
and spit back and win the day
You shall never pretend
YOU COME BACK TO SWITZERLAND
where the lights of my future are still at green
come and you feel that what we need
The truth is that they lead you away
why is it the spirit of the times?
I fly into a rage in this society
and sometimes it hurts like hell
You shall never pretend
YOU COME BACK TO SWITZERLAND
where the lights of my future are still at green
come and you feel that what we need
6 o' clock in the evening on a south-sea island
8 o' clock in the morning on the motorway
new years eve and i don't know where I am
no glass of champagne anymore
i'm homesick again!
you shall never...
Looking out the foggy window of the train it seemed insane,
The rain was comin' down so fast it couldn't make it in the drains
And all the roads had turned to rivers and the stairs to waterfalls.
The buildings in Zurich had great graffiti on their walls
We only saw it for a second when the lightning bolts would strike
The city lost its power; there was a monster in the sky blocking out the sunlight
It was hard to tell whether it was day or night
When our train pulled into the station, we were happy just to be alive
We had made it on time and the storm had surrendered
We set up our tent in the victorious sunlight
We walked into town and we looked around
We stared through the windows at Swiss army knives
We were in a deep valley in the middle of two lakes
With mighty mystic mountains rising up on each side
And we slept that night and we dreamed about the climb that we were gonna make
Life's not about the stuff that you have; it's more about the chances you take
We bought two cans of beans, one for you and one for me,
A bag of peanuts too then we laced up our boots
We hiked up the hills passing ponies on the way
Stoppin', reachin' through the fence to feed them some hay
The trees grew so thick that we couldn't see their tops
As we twisted like the roots through the rocks and the moss
Coming down around the corner came a herd of baby lambs
I swear I took at least a hundred pictures of them
When we made it out of the trees and back into the light
We could see we were gettin' pretty close to the sky
Under our feet perfect blue, pink, and white
Were the smallest, sweetest edelweiss
And Gandalf would have been a great guide
As the trail we were trusting hugged the mountainside
Deep down below in the ice and the snow
The river cut a gorge through the rock like a knife
And we could see the spot where the giant pushed is feet into the stone
And kept the mountain from fallin', saving the village below
And the crows came to say hello
They laughed at you and me; they said we were way too slow
The crows, without effort, sank and rose
They laughed at you and me
They sang that we should have flown
Up at the top we had to stop because there was nowhere left to go
So we ate our beans and we shared our nuts with those big black braggin' crows
We smashed our cans, put on our packs, and started back on our way home
I like goin' up better than comin' down but everything comes back down, you know
The sun will melt away the snow, the rivers will flow,
the crows will sing together and alone
