Stilbaai, also known as the Bay of Sleeping Beauty, is a town along the southern coast of South Africa about four hours by car from Cape Town. It is part of the Hessequa Local Municipality in the Western Cape province. Alternate spellings of the town's name include Stillbay, Stilbay, Stillbaai and Stilbaai.
The town hosts a variety of B&B lodges and a friendly warm coast for surfing and swimming. During the peak of summer the warm waters at times become packed with blue bottles (a stinging sea creature also known as a portuguese man-of-war) when an easterly wind is blowing and the chance of being stung by one is high.
Stilbaai is host to a number of interesting archaeological sites, including ancient fish traps thought to have been built by early ancestors of the Khoi people of the Southern Cape, and a shell landfill that has been carbon dated to around 1000 BC.
Another archaeological site is situated in a group of caves at Blombos cave, about 12 kilometers from Stilbaai. Artifacts found at Blombos have been carbon dated to around 77,000 BP, making it the oldest known human settlement today.

Stef Bos (Veenendaal, July 12, 1961) is a Dutch singer who has been living in Cape Town, South Africa. He sings in Dutch (and occasionally in Afrikaans), and has been successful in Belgium, the Netherlands and South Africa ever since his breakthrough single "Papa" (Daddy) came out in 1990.
He wrote Belgium's entry into the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest, "Door De Wind".
Stef recorded an album (Together as One) in 1993 for which he works together with Johannes Kerkorrel and Tandie Klaasen, two famous South African singers. From that moment on he fell in love with South Africa, the language Afrikaans and its music. We can hear the influence from Africa in his later albums like De onderstroom (The Undercurrent).

Having someone to share your memories with, enjoying a beautiful sunrise, conquering a great peak and witnessing various interesting moments are all part of a book of internal Kodak moments. For others it can be seen as a metaphor or even a test of the relationship. With all kinds of habits, moods, personality factors and others that may surface.
If you can survive travelling together some say it is a great chance the relationship can stand the test of time.
Vera could only get off work for 10 days and we were both very excited about this opportunity. Each moment I held precious. Looking at the map of South Africa, it was difficult to decide which direction to go. Having travelled South Africa quite extensively with bands, drama productions and personal leisure it was a difficult choice. The choice at the end came down to accessibility, time on the road as well as being able to spend more time with the family as they were excited to spend time with Vera.
Some highlights from the trip
We enjoyed the sheer natural beauty of the garden route
Explored the most South Western tip of Africa
Enjoyed swimming at Dias Beach
Feasted on various different traditional cuisines at places such as Moyo as well as with my family
Went for wine tasting in the beautiful town of Franshoek
Experienced the terrific view from top of Table Mountain, one of the 7 world natural wonders.
Wandering around one of South Africa's oldest buildings, Castle of Good Hope, exploring our history.
Celebrated my brother's, Duwayne's 30th birthday party in 80's style
Celebrated the Afrikaans language by visiting the Taal monument in Paarl
Gliding from tree to tree exploring the natural forests of Tsitsikamma.
Enjoying a warm Jacuzzi bath with a forest view outside of Plettenberg
