Brooks Newmark should be allowed back into the Government “very soon”, Boris Johnson has said.
Mr Newmark quit as charities minister at the weekend after it emerged that he had sent explicit messages and photographs over the internet in a tabloid sting.
Speaking to reporters at the Conservative Party conference, Mr Johnson suggested that David Cameron, the Prime Minister, should bring him back into the Government.
Asked if he Mr Newmark should have resigned for “sexting” someone, Mr Johnson said: “I am here to talk about what we are doing to take the country forward and why I think the Conservatives should win the next general election.
“If you are asking about Brooks I have a very high regard for Brooks and a great deal of sympathy and I am sure he will be coming back very soon.”

Native Americans get government settlement checks years later

ANADARKO – Hundreds of Native Americans in Anadarko cashed checks from the federal government at a convenience store Thursday, as part of a multi-billion dollar class-action lawsuit involving decades of unpaid land royalties.
The long lines at Step-N-Fetchum grocery began at 8 a.m.
There was no special sale going on.
They were giving away money – Uncle Sam’s money.
“We’ve been waiting for quite a while for that,” one recipient said, “and we do deserve it, you know.”
Native Americans from several tribes just received a check – ranging from $900 to $2,000.
“Because they were cheated out of their land,” another woman said.
It’s all part of a $3.4 billion dollar settlement – payback for the government not paying their ancestors royalties to use their land for over a century.
That land was used for oil production, farming, and other lucrative purposes.
ElouiseCobell, a Blackfeet tribe member from Montana, sued the government 18 years ago and eventually won the class action lawsuit.
“So it does help, but it’s a pathetic token,” Pam Eagleshield said.
Two years ago, Native Americans were told they would receive the money in 2013, but the Interior Department said as many as 500,000 recipients had to be identified and notified.
Thousands are finally getting their piece of the pie.
But does it right a wrong?
“It’s a step,” one recipient said. “That’s all I can say. It’s a step forward for us and for them.”

Scottish voters head to the polls Thursday to answer a simple question that will trigger very complicated effects: Should Scotland be an independent country?
If a majority votes yes, the nation – which has been under British rule since 1707 – will separate from the United Kingdom countries of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The Scottish government refers to the referendum as a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” because only one vote for independence was guaranteed by the 2012 Edinburgh Agreement, to take place by the end of 2014. That agreement was signed by British Prime Minister David Cameron and Scottish officials and assured Scotland the ability to hold a referendum on its future.
While the “No” campaign was leading by a wide margin into September, a YouGov poll released Sept. 7 saw the “Yes” campaign take the majority for the first time, with 51 percent of Scottish voters saying they’d cast a ballot in favor of independence. But YouGov’s poll this week put the “No” campaign back ahead, forecasting it as the likely outcome.
Supporters of independence – led by the Scottish National Party and First Minister Alex Salmond, its most powerful voice – want autonomy in their domestic affairs. The party says leaving the United Kingdom will give Scotland full control over its economy, as well as things like social and energy policies.

In an open letter to Scots Wednesday, the day before the vote, Salmond said voters have a rare opportunity to give the Scottish Parliament more job-creating powers and increased control over the National Health Service.
“It's the greatest, most empowering moment any of us will ever have,” he wrote. “Know that by voting ‘Yes’, what we take into our hands is a responsibility like no other – the responsibility to work together to make Scotland the nation it can be.”
Cameron, however, opposes Scottish independence and has said it would “break his heart” if the country decides to leave the U.K. He has also expressed concern, amid the growing global threat of the Islamic State group – which last weekend beheaded a British aid worker – that an independent Scotland would be vulnerable to terrorist attacks. Cameron said Monday choosing independence would “rip” Scotland from the remainder of the U.K.

While the “No” campaign was leading by a wide margin into September, a YouGov poll released Sept. 7 saw the “Yes” campaign take the majority for the first time, with 51 percent of Scottish voters saying they’d cast a ballot in favor of independence. But YouGov’s poll this week put the “No” campaign back ahead, forecasting it as the likely outcome.
Supporters of independence – led by the Scottish National Party and First Minister Alex Salmond, its most powerful voice – want autonomy in their domestic affairs. The party says leaving the United Kingdom will give Scotland full control over its economy, as well as things like social and energy policies.

In an open letter to Scots Wednesday, the day before the vote, Salmond said voters have a rare opportunity to give the Scottish Parliament more job-creating powers and increased control over the National Health Service.
“It's the greatest, most empowering moment any of us will ever have,” he wrote. “Know that by voting ‘Yes’, what we take into our hands is a responsibility like no other – the responsibility to work together to make Scotland the nation it can be.”
Cameron, however, opposes Scottish independence and has said it would “break his heart” if the country decides to leave the U.K. He has also expressed concern, amid the growing global threat of the Islamic State group – which last weekend beheaded a British aid worker – that an independent Scotland would be vulnerable to terrorist attacks. Cameron said Monday choosing independence would “rip” Scotland from the remainder of the U.K.

ANADARKO – Hundreds of Native Americans in Anadarko cashed checks from the federal government at a convenience store Thursday, as part of a multi-billion dollar class-action lawsuit involving decades of unpaid land royalties. The long lines at Step-N-Fetchum grocery began at 8 a.m. There was no special sale going on. They were giving away money – Uncle Sam’s money. “We’ve been waiting for quite a while for that,” one recipient said, “and we do deserve it, you know.” Native Americans from several tribes just received a check – ranging from $900 to $2,000. “Because they were cheated out of their land,” another woman said. It’s all part of a $3.4 billion dollar settlement – payback for the government not paying their ancestors royalties to use their land for over a century. That land was used for oil production, farming, and other lucrative purposes. ElouiseCobell, a Blackfeet tribe member from Montana, sued the government 18 years ago and eventually won the class action lawsuit. “So it does help, but it’s a pathetic token,” Pam Eagleshield said. Two years ago, Native Americans were told they would receive the money in 2013, but the Interior Department said as many as 500,000 recipients had to be identified and notified. Thousands are finally getting their piece of the pie. But does it right a wrong? “It’s a step,” one recipient said. “That’s all I can say. He began his career in journalism with The Times, and later moved on to The Daily Telegraph where he became assistant editor. He was appointed editor of The Spectator in 1999. In the 2001 general election he was elected to the House of Commons and became one of the most conspicuous politicians in the country. He has also written several books.
Under Michael Howard, Johnson briefly served on the Conservative front bench as the Shadow Minister for the Arts from April 2004 until November 2004. When David Cameron was elected leader of the Conservative Party in 2005, Johnson was re-appointed to the front bench as Shadow Minister for Higher Education and resigned as editor of The Spectator.

Martin Luther (help·info) (10 November 1483 – 18 February 1546) was a German monk, priest, professor of theology and iconic figure of the Protestant Reformation. He strongly disputed the claim that freedom from God's punishment for sin could be purchased with money. He confronted indulgence salesman Johann Tetzel with his Ninety-Five Theses in 1517. His refusal to retract all of his writings at the demand of Pope Leo X in 1520 and the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms in 1521 resulted in his excommunication by the pope and condemnation as an outlaw by the Emperor.
Luther taught that salvation is not earned by good deeds but received only as a free gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer from sin. His theology challenged the authority of the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church by teaching that the Bible is the only source of divinely revealed knowledge and opposed sacerdotalism by considering all baptized Christians to be a holy priesthood. Those who identify with Luther's teachings are called Lutherans.

Michael Dale "Mike" Huckabee (born August 24, 1955) is an American politician who served as the 44th Governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007. He was a candidate in the 2008 United States Republican presidential primaries, finishing second in delegate count and third in both popular vote and number of states won (behind both John McCain and Mitt Romney). He won the Iowa Republican caucuses. Huckabee exited the race as McCain became the presumptive Republican nominee after winning the delegate-rich winner-take-all states of Florida, California, and New York.
Huckabee is the author of several best selling books, an ordained Southern Baptistminister, musician and a public speaker. He is also an ABC Radio political commentator. He and his wife, Janet, have been married for over 37 years and have three grown children: John Mark, David, and Sarah. Janet Huckabee was an unsuccessful candidate for Arkansas Secretary of State in 2002.
Huckabee currently hosts the Fox News Channel talk show Huckabee. Starting April 2, 2012 he will host The Mike Huckabee Show from noon until 3 pm weekdays for Cumulus Media Networks.
