Theism, in the broadest sense, is the belief that at least one deity exists. In a more specific sense, theism is a doctrine concerning the nature of a monotheistic God and God's relationship to the universe.Theism, in this specific sense, conceives of God as personal, present and active in the governance and organization of the world and the universe. As such theism describes the classical conception of God that is found in Christianity, Judaism, Islam and some forms of Hinduism. The use of the word theism to indicate this classical form of monotheism began during the scientific revolution of the seventeenth century in order to distinguish it from the then-emerging deism which contended that God, though transcendent and supreme, did not intervene in the natural world and could be known rationally but not via revelation.
The term theism derives from the Greek theos meaning "god". The term theism was first used by Ralph Cudworth (1617–88).Atheism is rejection of theism in the broadest sense of theism; i.e. the rejection of belief that there is even one deity. Rejection of the narrower sense of theism can take forms such as deism, pantheism, and polytheism. The claim that the existence of any deity is unknown or unknowable is agnosticism. The positive assertion of knowledge, either of the existence of gods or the absence of gods, can also be attributed to some theists and some atheists. Put simply theism and atheism deal with belief, and agnosticism deals with (absence of) rational claims to asserting knowledge.
Christopher Eric Hitchens (13 April 1949 – 15 December 2011) was an English American author and journalist whose career spanned more than four decades. Hitchens, often referred to colloquially as "Hitch", was a columnist and literary critic for New Statesman, The Atlantic, The Nation, The Daily Mirror, The Times Literary Supplement and Vanity Fair. He was an author of twelve books and five collections of essays. As a staple of talk shows and lecture circuits, he was a prominent public intellectual, and his confrontational style of debate made him both a lauded and controversial figure.
Hitchens was known for his admiration of George Orwell, Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson, as well as for his excoriating critiques of various public figures including Mother Teresa, Bill Clinton, Henry Kissinger and Diana, Princess of Wales. Although he supported the Falklands War, his key split from the established political left began in 1989 after what he called the "tepid reaction" of the Western left to the Rushdie Affair. The September 11 attacks strengthened his internationalist embrace of an interventionist foreign policy, and his vociferous criticism of what he called "fascism with an Islamic face." His numerous editorials in support of the Iraq War caused some to label him a neoconservative, although Hitchens insisted he was not "a conservative of any kind", and his friend Ian McEwan describes him as representing the anti-totalitarian left.
R. William Hasker is an American Christian philosopher and Distinguished Professor Emeritus of philosophy at Huntington University. For many years he was editor of the prestigious journal Faith and Philosophy. He has published many journal articles and books dealing with issues such as the mind-body problem, theodicy, and divine omniscience. He has affirmed "Open Theism" and a view known as "emergentism" regarding the nature of the human person. Hasker regards the soul as an "emergent" substance, dependent upon the body for its existence.
Hasker received his Ph.D. in theology and philosophy of religion from The University of Edinburgh. His 1999 publication The Emergent Self discusses the philosophy of mind and attempts to establish that mind cannot be solely a material process but is also not completely distinct from its physical basis in the brain.
Hasker has published numerous works. A selection:
John Shelby "Jack" Spong (born June 16, 1931) is a retired American bishop of the Episcopal Church. He was formerly the Bishop of Newark (based in Newark, New Jersey). He is a liberal theologian, religion commentator and author. He calls for a fundamental rethinking of Christian belief away from theism and from traditional doctrines.
Spong was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and educated in Charlotte public schools. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1952, and received his Master of Divinity degree in 1955 from the Episcopal Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia. That seminary and Saint Paul's College have both conferred on him honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees. He wrote: "[I have] immerse[d] myself in contemporary Biblical scholarship at such places as Union Theological Seminary in New York City, Yale Divinity School, Harvard Divinity School and the storied universities in Edinburgh, Oxford and Cambridge."
Spong served as rector of St. Joseph's Church in Durham, North Carolina from 1955 to 1957; rector of Calvary Parish, Tarboro, North Carolina from 1957 to 1965; rector of St. John's Church in Lynchburg, Virginia from 1965 to 1969; and rector of St. Paul's Church in Richmond, Virginia from 1969 to 1976. He has held visiting positions and given lectures at major American theological institutions, most prominently at Harvard Divinity School. He retired in 2000.
John T. Shelby (born February 23, 1958 in Lexington, Kentucky) is a former center fielder in Major League Baseball who played from 1981 to 1991. His nickname was "T-Bone" for his slight frame. He currently is a coach for the Milwaukee Brewers
John Shelby is a 1976 graduate of Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY, where he played baseball (shortstop) and basketball and was an all-area performer. After high school he played one year of baseball at Columbia State Community College in Tennessee.
Over his 11-year career he played with three different teams: the Baltimore Orioles (1981–1987), Los Angeles Dodgers (1987–1990) and Detroit Tigers (1990–1991). Shelby was a member of two World Series-winning teams, the 1983 Orioles and the 1988 Dodgers. When he was traded to the Dodgers during the 1987 season, the team was so desperate for a center fielder that he was rushed into uniform and into his first game. There was not even time to put his name on the back of his uniform. He played the entire game as the only member of the Dodgers without his name stitched on his uniform. During Game Four of the 1988 National League Championship Series, he drew a crucial walk off Dwight Gooden in the top of the ninth inning, allowing Mike Scioscia to come up and hit a game-tying home run, paving the way for the game-winning home run by Kirk Gibson in the top of the twelfth inning. On June 3, 1989 he batted 0 for 10 in a 22 inning game vs. the Houston Astros.

love never
gets back to you
and we try to avoid
to look at each other
when we smile
we are alone
at night in a quiet pool
we're just floating
but still
love is endless
and i can't find
a good excuse
i just smile
we are alone
at night in a cold pool
and we just drown
nobody can help us
nobody will answer
we'll just sink
but love never gives you
a previous sign
it will just
go away
and leave us
we are alone
at night in a cold pool
and we just drown
nobody can help us
nobody will answer
we'll just sink
nobody can help us
nobody will answer
we'll just sink
nobody can help us
nobody will answer
nobody can help us
nobody will answer
we'll just sink
[music: Brandstrom, Jivarp, Henriksson]
what we always fear and loathe
becomes of us
repay the visit of our loss
reset the marks again
the turning point
seems to be holding on
sands of ages and the stars above
everchanging as the same hearts beat
repeating 'til the end
seas of slander and the soil we walk
everchanging as the same hearts beat
it ends up all the same
the sail that never knew the wind
barren and lost
our wrecks these shores will never reach
a trek on darker trails
let days be done

It takes forever
Things havent changed
You havent changed
And I havent changed
Things that you say
You want to change
You havent changed
Youre still the same
The words that you never approve of
The way that you call out my name
The lies that you tell to protect me
The same
Playing in your little games
You try to make me go crazy
Im stronger then i was before
You tried but you failed me
And this time im ready for war
Things havent changed
You havent changed
And I havent changed
Things that you say
You want to change
You havent changed
Youre still the same
The time that we wasted on our fighting
The same
The things that we argue about
Excuses you give about everything
The reasons i give why i shout
And how things could have been better
If i never met you before
You try but your failing me
And this time im ready for war
Things havent changed
You havent changed
And I havent changed
Things that you say
You want to change
They stay the same
Things havent changed
We just stay the same
You havent changed
I havent changed
We havent changed
The Same lyrics by Emf
The Same
When you came here, I saw you
When I saw you, I knew you
When I knew you, I hunched up
Turned you away
I have a friend, who takes my hand
Shows me new consciousness, understands
That the risks obscure, are plainer to see
Than the risks you get from me
For real it washes in the rain
Hanging out, it never quite seems the same
For real, it washes in the rain
Hang it out, hang it out sometime
It's never the same
I have a tendency to take what I find
Show my awareness, not feel blind
That the risks obscure, are plainer to see
For a minute there I almost believed you
And I wanted to forgive you for everything you've done
And I could feel safe but miserable
In a familiar world of lies and misinformation
But then I remembered that everything you've ever said
and everything you've ever done
add up to more wrongs,
than could ever make a right
So don't try to talk to me
'cause a thousand Fuck You's would never be enough
So I'm only gonna say this once
I still need you
When I'm in this pathetic state
But you would detest me even more
And I would burn even harder
I would burn
Burn away from you
Nothing good ever came from you
You only brought me down
Nothing good ever came from you
Will I ever be the same?
And I still need you here by my side
Now that I'm in this pathetic state
But you would detest me even more
Passing judgement I was never any better saying the
things I didn't mean looking back I can't recall why I
said anyhting at all. Failling myself time and again I
try and regain my strength a broken promise I have grown
to accept I was never better then them. No better then
them. Trading places and still I ask what would I have
dones if I were them illuisons of being better when all i
I love you in the same way
You love me, I know
And I love you in the same way
I deserve you
And you deserve what you've got
You have no flaws
And I, in the same way I deserve you
It's four in the morning
And you come home nice and clean
Smelling like musk
What a cheap perfume
But you were working
Pulling a night shift
Of course I believed you!!!
And please give back those panties
That your cousin -poor thing-
That she left underneath the seat
Of your truck
You love me, I know
And I love you in the same way
I deserve you
And you deserve what you've got
You have no flaws
And I, in the same way
I deserve you
Just yesterday I called you
Someone named Joselina picked up
A hard-working girl
Working till late at night
Every day of the week
But anyway...
You have no flaws
And I, in the same way
I love you, darling
Sorry if I was late
But I had so many problems
Getting home...
My car broke down
I ran out of gas
Flat tire, or something in the starter...
Imagine my luck
This happened right in front of a restaurant
In a somewhat odd neighborhood
So I went in, sat down, and ate
And you'll never guess what I saw...
You dancing, baby
You were with someone, that Joselina
Or maybe that was your cousin
I didn't make a fuss, baby
Because I know it's just for work
So that's why I danced, drank
Made new friends...
Let people talk
Oh skull, what killed you?
land, land of my birth
are you my mother
or am i an orphan
where, where do i belong
will i find a place in this world
or forever just wander around
southern hemisphere
how did i end up here
i have nowhere to go
this is the only home that i know
such a great divide
between you and i
how i wish it would go
i live in a place in my mind
no i don't listen to kwaito, wasn't born in soweto
i don't understand you
but i want to you know
same, were both the same
we share the same heart
we're made of the same parts
please don't look at me that way
i already live with the guilt that i own
from my forefather's past
does this land belong to the tribes who engraved her stones with stories of old
they're long gone you know
now this is our home
i want to strip you down to the core
take off your shirt, hat, shoes and trousers
erase my head, all the books that i've read
the language i speak, the customs you keep
keep on going right down to the heart
to the pain that is yours - the pain that is ours
tell you it's all going to be alright
is it going to be alright
heal, can you heal
heal, oh can you heal
heal, oh mother, can you heal
or am i an orphan
forever a stranger here
same, we're both the same
we share the same heart
It feels like a touch in feeling.
oh it feels like you know what exactly i'm saying.
When you walked into the bar and you saw my face
you knew how puzzled i was, cause saw that expression on your face
It looks to me that you know what it feels like
cause it looks like to me that you know how i feel inside
When i saw your face you walked this way
and i know your ways so dont think i dont
I know you know what it feels like
yeah you know how feel inside
Look at me look at you whats the differense
your a boy i'm a girl that doesnt matter
its the same
yeah its the same when you......
look at me look at you whats the differense
your a boy im a girl that doesnt matter
cause when you look at me only i can see
you know what it feels like
you know how i feel inside.
