Sharon (Hebrew: שָׁרוֹן, Tiberian Hebrew: Šārôn) can be a female name which can be spelled with one "r" or two (Sharron).[citation needed] It also refers to several places in the world.
It derives from a Israelite place name meaning "forest" in Hebrew, referring to a fertile plain near the coast of Israel. This gives its name to a type of flowering shrub, the rose of Sharon. Various nicknames of Sharon include Sha, Sharai, Sharona, Sharonald, Sharry, Sherri, Sherrie, Sherye, Share Bear, Sharonstein Bear, Sharoo, Shazz, Shazzy, Sharoon and Shazam.
Sharon is one of many names that could formerly be applied to males (as in the 19th-century historian Sharon Turner), but is now nearly always used of females (cf. Vivian, Ashley, Beverly, etc.).
In the United Kingdom its popularity peaked during the 1960s. It was the 10th most popular female name by 1964 and was still as high as 17th in 1974, but a sharp decline in popularity followed and since the 1980s it has not even featured in the top 100.

Bromberg has an eclectic style, playing bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz, country and western, and rock and roll equally well. He is known for his quirky, humorous lyrics, and the ability to play rhythm and lead guitar at the same time. In 2008, he was nominated for a Grammy Award. He has played with many famous musicians, including Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, Jorma Kaukonen, Jerry Garcia, Rusty Evans (The Deep) and Bob Dylan, and co-wrote the song "The Holdup" with former Beatle George Harrison, who played on Bromberg's self-titled 1972 album.

Bromberg began releasing albums of his own in the early 1970s on Columbia Records. His seven-minute rendition of "Mr. Bojangles" from 1972's Demon in Disguise, interspersed with tales about traveling with song author Jerry Jeff Walker, earned Bromberg progressive rock radio airplay. The riff from the song "Sharon," on the same album, was sampled by the Beastie Boys for the song "Johnny Ryall" on their seminal album Paul's Boutique. In 1973, he played mandolin, dobro, and electric guitar on Jonathan Edwards' album Have a Good Time for Me.

The first thing Sharon I ever learned
Never trust a man with confiidence again
The next thing sharon I'd over heard
The fact he's seeing you again is no coincidence
Cos' Sharon he wants you
And I know he lied
When he says he wants you to be his bride
Therse no telling you Sharon cos' god knows I've tried
And what hurts me Sharon , You don't know why , You don't know why

Knowing your happy in your own particular way
Cos' Sharon he wants you

When he says he wants you to be his bride
Therse no telling you Sharon cos' god knows I've tried
And what hurts me Sharon , You don't know why , You don't know why

And its winter now but it was summer then
S.H.A.R.O.N.

The last thing Sharon I ever wanted was leave you
Broken and permanently haunted

Broken and permanently haunted
