Plot
"End of the Spear" is the story of Mincayani, a Waodani tribesman from the jungles of Ecuador. When five young missionaries, among them Jim Elliot and Nate Saint, are speared to death by the Waodani in 1956, a series of events unfold to change the lives of not only the slain missionaries' families, but also Mincayani and his people.

Dare to Make Contact
[from trailer]::Young Steve Saint: Are we going to run?
Nate Saint: Do you know how far away the sun is?::Young Steve Saint: 93 million miles.::Nate Saint: Do you know that that's just a fraction of how much I love you?
Mincayani: You look like Dayumae. But you don't fool me. You're a spirit.::Dayumae: You look like a man. But you don't fool me. You're Mincayani.
Waodani Chaperone: [In Waodani] I think you are a tall woman. With a voice like a beautiful canary.::Roger Youderian: [Stares blankly at her]::Nate Saint: She just proposed to you, Roger.
Mincayani: Do it! I killed your father! Do it!::Steve Saint: No one took my fathers life. He gave it.
Nate Saint: [after being speared; speaking in the Waodani language] I am your friend.
Young Steve Saint: If the Waodani attack, will you defend yourself? Will you use your guns?::Nate Saint: Son, we can't shoot the Waodani. They're not ready for heaven... we are.
[first lines]::Steve Saint: Some people say we live in a world of irreconcilable differences. Others say that true peace, lasting peace, can't be obtained because we haven't found a way yet to change the human heart.
[last lines]::Steve Saint: It's true my dad and his four friends were not given the privilege of watching their children and grandchildren grow up. But Mincayani is a grandfather. It's the first time in Waodani history they've ever had so many grandfathers. He's not only a grandfather to his own children, he's a grandfather to mine. My dad would have liked that. Through the years people could always identify with our loss. But they could never imagine the way we would experience gain.
The leopard ( /ˈlɛpərd/), Panthera pardus, is a member of the Felidae family and the smallest of the four "big cats" in the genus Panthera, the other three being the tiger, lion, and jaguar. The leopard was once distributed across eastern and southern Asia and Africa, from Siberia to South Africa, but its range of distribution has decreased radically because of hunting and loss of habitat. It is now chiefly found in sub-Saharan Africa; there are also fragmented populations in the Indian subcontinent, Sri Lanka, Indochina, Malaysia, Indonesia, and China. Because of its declining range and population, it is listed as a "Near Threatened" species on the IUCN Red List.
Compared to other members of the Felidae family, the leopard has relatively short legs and a long body with a large skull. It is similar in appearance to the jaguar, but is smaller and more slightly built. Its fur is marked with rosettes similar to those of the jaguar, but the leopard's rosettes are smaller and more densely packed, and do not usually have central spots as the jaguars do. Both leopards and jaguars that are melanistic are known as black panthers.
