Roy Linwood Clark (born April 15, 1933) is an American country music musician and performer. He is best known for hosting Hee Haw, a nationally televised country variety show, from 1969 to 1992. Roy Clark has been an important and influential figure in country music, both as a performer and helping to popularize the genre.
During the 1970s, Clark frequently guest-hosted for Johnny Carson on The Tonight Show and enjoyed a 30-million viewership for Hee Haw. Clark is highly regarded and renowned as a guitarist and banjo player, and is also skilled in classical guitar and several other instruments. Although he has had hit songs as a pop vocalist (e.g., "Yesterday, When I Was Young" and "Thank God and Greyhound"), his instrumental skill has had an enormous effect on generations of bluegrass and country musicians. He is a member of the Grand Ole Opry, since 1987 and The Country Music Hall of Fame.
Clark is an English language surname, ultimately derived from the Latin clericus meaning "scribe", "secretary" or a scholar within a religious order, referring to someone who was educated. Clark evolved from "clerk". First records of the name are found in 12th century England. The name has many variants.
Clark is the twenty-seventh most common surname in the United Kingdom, including placing fourteenth in Scotland. Clark is also an occasional given name, as in the case of Clark Gable.
According to the 1990 United States Census, Clark was the twenty-first most frequently encountered surname, accounting for 0.23% of the population. Notable people with the surname include:
"Twelfth Street Rag" was published by Euday L. Bowman in 1914. Years earlier, a friend of Bowman's known only as "Raggedy Ed" declared his intention to open a pawn shop on 12th Street while the two were walking along it. Bowman is rumored to have said "If you get rich on those three balls, I'll write a piece on three notes to make myself rich." The result was "The 12th Street Rag," one of the most famous and best-selling rags of the ragtime era.
It was more than 15 years after Bowman composed the song before he actually wrote the music down in manuscript form. He returned to Texas briefly and tried to sell the piece to a company in Dallas; but he only had an offer of ten dollars for it and was told it really wasn't worth publishing. Returning to Kansas City, he sold it to Jenkins Music Company in 1913. The Jenkins company felt Bowman's arrangement was too difficult, however, and hired C. E. Wheeler to simplify it. With a big advertising push, "12th Street Rag" began to sell better. In 1919, James S. Sumner added lyrics. The song was popular with early Kansas City bands and became a huge hit after Bennie Moten recorded it for RCA Victor in 1927, the same year that Louis Armstrong and His Hot Seven recorded it. It has since become an enduring jazz standard.
Roosevelt Road (originally named 12th Street) is a major east-west thoroughfare in the city of Chicago, Illinois, and its western suburbs. It is 1200 South in the city's street numbering system, but only 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Madison Street. It runs under this name from Columbus Drive to the western city limits, then continues through the western suburbs until it reaches Geneva, where it is known as State Street. 12th Street was renamed to Roosevelt Road on May 25, 1919, in recognition of President Theodore Roosevelt, who had died the previous January. In 1928 the new U.S. Route 330 (US 330), a different alignment of US 30, went down Roosevelt Road to Geneva, in 1942 it was redesignated as US 30 Alternate. In 1972, after the route had been discontinued, Roosevelt Road outside Chicago became Illinois Route 38.
In Grant Park (for which it serves as the southern boundary west of Lake Shore Drive), it is named Roosevelt Drive. The road begins at Lake Shore Drive and heads west, forming the southern boundary of the Chicago Loop. The area between Clark Street (100 W) and Jefferson Street (600 W) is a fast-growing commercial district, mostly home to large chain stores, including Best Buy, The Home Depot, Staples, Whole Foods Market and Target. This area used to be and remains to a lesser extent, a major fabric retail area. The famous Maxwell Street Market can be found just south of Roosevelt at Canal Street (500 W). Continuing west, it passes the University of Illinois at Chicago's two campuses and St. Ignatius College Preparatory School between Halsted Street and Damen Avenue. It also passes Douglas Park at California Avenue. Once past Mannheim Road it becomes Illinois Route 38. Between Austin Blvd and Harlem Ave, a major streetscape renovation project is underway by the Town of Cicero, Village of Oak Park, and City of Berwyn.

Sit right back and sit a spell as Cousin Roy Halsey (a pre Hee Haw Roy Clark) visits the Clampett clan from his home in the Ozarks. Jethro is determined to make it big in the entertainment industry, annoying everyone possible in the process! This is the original night of broadcast episode, sans commercials. This is exactly how CBS would have aired it in early 1969. What you see on cable/satellite these days (and for the last few decades sadly) are edited down to around 22 minutes to make room for more commercials. There is absolutely not one iota of copyright infringement intended. Constantly Being Stalled (CBS) seems to be in absolutely no hurry to get the rest of this series to DVD, finally after a two year hiatus going back and picking up season 1. If they refuse to make it available...

Well, when we realized no one had ever gathered all the members of the TV show “Hee Haw” into one room and film it, we decided to do it! What we got out of that taping is incredible, once-in-a-lifetime stuff that we’re calling Country’s Family Reunion: Salute to the Kornfield! This series features all of the Hee Haw cast we could gather telling stories about one of the most popular TV shows of all time, plus sharing wonderful songs and laughter. And, it wouldn’t be a Country’s Family Reunion without some of your favorite country stars, many of whom played on Hee Haw when it was on TV.

We’re not as young - as we used to be
But baby - I don’t mind
'Cause growing with you - is gonna be
Full of life and good times.
And if I had it to do all over again I’d do it with you
I wouldn't want to miss a thing that we’ve been through
Baby nothing can compare to the good love that we’ve
shared
And if I had to do it all over again I’d do it with you.
Looking back on life - I can’t complain
It ain’t been easy - but don’t you know
We still had sunshine - even when it rained
And we’ve shared a love - that few have known.
And if I had it to do all over again I’d do it with you
I wouldn't want to miss a thing that we’ve been through
Baby nothing can compare with the good love that we’ve
shared
And if I had to do it all over again I’d do it with you.
^repeat Chorus
And if I had to do it all over again I’d do it with
