Phosphate Additives in Chicken
Phosphate Additives in Chicken
Subscribe for free to Dr. Greger's videos at: http://bit.ly/nutritionfactsupdates DESCRIPTION: The phosphorus preservatives injected into poultry may not just be an arterial toxin. They also appear to dramatically increase the growth of food poisoning Campylobacter bacteria. Why does the meat industry inject phosphate additives? See my last video, Phosphate Additives in Meat Purge and Cola (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/phosphate-additives-in-meat-purge-and-cola). Other concerning additives used by the meat industry include asthma-type drugs (Ractopamine in Pork, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/ractopamine-in-pork/), bacteria-eating viruses (Viral Meat Spray, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/viral-meat-spray/), larvae (Maggot Meat Spray, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/maggot-meat-spray/), Arsenic in Chicken (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/arsenic-in-chicken/), nitrosamines (Prevention Is Better Than Cured Meat, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/prevention-is-better-than-cured-meat/), and antibiotics (Drug Residues in Meat, http://nutritionfacts.org/video/drug-residues-in-meat/). What does Campylobacter do? See Poultry and Paralysis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/poultry-and-paralysis/). How is it legal to sell meat contaminated with food poisoning bacteria? See Unsafe at Any Feed (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/unsafe-at-any-feed/) and Salmonella in Chicken & Turkey: Deadly But Not Illegal (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/salmonella-in-chicken-turkey-deadly-but-not-illegal/). Since phosphate additives don't have to be listed on the nutrition label, how do you avoid them? I'm glad you asked—all in my next video, How to Avoid Phosphate Additives (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-to-avoid-phosphate-additives). Have a question for Dr. Greger about this video? Leave it in the comment section at http://nutritionfacts.org/video/phosphate-additives-in-chicken/ and he'll try to answer it!- published: 13 Nov 2013

Pentose Phosphate Pathway
Pentose Phosphate Pathway
Welcome to Moof University! My name is Mahfoud, and I recently graduated from UC Riverside. I've made these videos to help students with introductory biochemistry. The videos are loosely structured around what I learned from the elementary biochemistry course I took on campus (BCH 100) at UC Riverside. I hope, however, that any and all individuals who want to learn basic biochemistry find these videos helpful. In addition, if you are a student at UC Riverside taking BCH 100 (or a student at a school near UC Riverside), and you find these videos helpful, but still want more help, please feel free to email me at MoofUniversity@gmail.com if you are interested in my tutoring services. Happy learning, folks!- published: 28 Oct 2013

Swimming Pool Phosphate Remover..Myths & Facts Revealed
Swimming Pool Phosphate Remover..Myths & Facts Revealed
For more information you can visit - http://www.clean-pool-and-spa.com/high-phosphates-over-1000-cloudy-water.html http://www.clean-pool-and-spa.com/high-phosphate-levels-and-low-chlorine-issue.html Do I need a pool phosphate remover? What do they do? They're expensive but I may need it? Phosphates are food for algae, along with nitrates. You want to keep your pool chemical readings at these levels: Chlorine 1.5 - 3.5ppm CC 0.0 pH 7.4 - 7.8 TA 80 - 100ppm CH 150 - 250ppm CYA 30 - 50ppm The swimming pool chlorine kills the organic matter in the pool. This consists of sweat, spit, urine, grass, leaves, bugs, oils, lotions, etc... and also ALGAE. Phosphates are food for algae. Phosphates don not thrive off of chlorine, no matter what you may have heard. Chlorine is the sanitizer for the pool and the chlorine kills the algae. Pools should between 1.5 - 3.5ppm chlorine. If you keep the chlorine level between 1.5 - 3.5ppm, that's good enough to kill the algae and bacteria in the pool. There's no algae and bacteria in the pool. All of it is gone. Phosphates, even a slightly elevated level, are safe to swim in. By keeping the chlorine level between 1.5 - 3.5ppm, and there's no algae because the chlorine kills it, and even though you may have a slightly elevated, BUT SAFE, phosphate level, and my water is crystal clear, then why do I need to phosphate remover? There's your answer. You don't need a phosphate remover for weekly routine pool water maintenance. Perhaps for extreme circumstances- published: 03 Feb 2014
