Vinay Katiyar was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh to Devi Charan Katiyar and Shyam Kali on November 22, 1954. He is presently National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was the founder-President of the Hindu group Bajrang Dal. He held this post when the 15th century built Babri Masjid was brought down by the Bajrang Dal and other organizations on December 6, 1992 to build a Ram Janmabhoomi Temple.

Vinay Katiyar was elected to Lok Sabha from Faizabad (Ayodhya) to the 10th, 11th and 13th Lok Sabha in 1991, 1996 and 1999 and was the President of the Uttar Pradesh State Unit of the BJP from 2002 to July 18, 2004. He is presently a member of Rajya sabha from Uttar Pradesh.

Katiyars are dominant in Districts of Farrukhabad, Kannauj and Kanpur. Katiyars belong to Kurmi Kshatriya caste of Hinduism. Vinay Katiyar, founder of Bajrang Dal is a prominent leader of the community. Katiyars claim descent from Lord Rama of the Suryavanshi Kshatriya clan.

Feroze Varun Gandhi (born 13 March 1980, Delhi, India) is an Indian politician, he is a member of Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament of India, representing the Pilibhit constituency. He is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party National Executive and the youngest National Secretary in the history of the party.

Varun Gandhi was born in Delhi on 13 March 1980 to Sanjay Gandhi and Maneka Gandhi, he is the grandson of the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi and the great-grandson of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. His father died in a plane crash when he was three months old. His grandmother was assassinated when Varun was four-years-old. Indira Gandhi is said to have been very fond of Varun and was greatly distressed when his mother left the household.

He attended Rishi Valley School and completed his A levels from the British School, New Delhi, where he was elected secretary of the student council. According to a press statement released by Sumantra Bose, Professor of International and Comparative Politics at London School of Economics, Varun completed his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics via the University of London External System in the year 2002. He also completed his Master of Science in Public Policy from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, in 2004 also through correspondence.

On April 7, 2011, he was forced to resign after being implicated in the murder of two Chief Medical officers BP Singh and VK Arya. Both were shot dead by two assassins on motorcycles, in central Lucknow, in broad daylight. The same gun had been used in both cases. It was alleged that their honesty was coming in the way of a political mafia who were skimming off large sums from the Health services.
