Douglas Anderson "Doug" Supernaw (born September 26, 1960) is an American country music artist. After several years performing as a local musician throughout the state of Texas, he signed with BNA Records in 1993, releasing his debut album that year.
Supernaw has released four studio albums: Red and Rio Grande (1993), Deep Thoughts from a Shallow Mind (1994), You Still Got Me (1995), and Fadin' Renegade (1999), as well as a compilation album, 1997's The Encore Collection. Between 1993 and 1996, he charted eleven singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now Hot Country Songs) charts, including "I Don't Call Him Daddy", a Number One single in late 1993.
Doug Supernaw was born on September 26, 1960, in Bryan, Texas. He grew up in Inwood Forest, and was an avid golfer and member of his high school golf team. His mother, a fan of country music, exposed him to acts such as George Jones and Gene Watson, by whose works he would later be influenced. Supernaw later attended college on a golfing scholarship. After dropping out of college in 1979, he briefly worked on an oil rig before serving as a musician in local bands. Doug moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1987, where he found work as a session songwriter. After four years in Nashville, he moved back to Texas, where he founded a band called Texas Steel. Supernaw is also the father of NFL tight end Phillip Supernaw, who currently plays for the Tennessee Titans.
Doug is a hypocorism (shorter form) of the given name Douglas.

Red and Rio Grande is the first studio album from country music artist Doug Supernaw. It was released on Apr 27, 1993. and it produced four singles for Supernaw on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. The first one, "Honky Tonkin' Fool", peaked at #50, while "I Don't Call Him Daddy" (previously a single for Kenny Rogers in 1988 from his I Prefer the Moonlight album) reached Number One. "Reno" was a #4 hit on the country charts, and finally "Red and Rio Grande" was a #23.
Michael McCall of Allmusic rated the album four-and-a-half stars out of five, citing "I Don't Call Him Daddy" as an "anthem" for divorced fathers.
The Rio Grande (/ˈriːoʊ ˈɡrænd/ or /ˈriːoʊ ˈɡrɑːndeɪ/; Spanish: Río Bravo del Norte, pronounced: [ˈri.o ˈβɾaβo ðel ˈnorte] or simply Río Bravo) is one of the principal rivers in the southwest United States and northern Mexico (the other being the Colorado River). The Rio Grande rises from south-central Colorado in the United States and flows to the Gulf of Mexico. Along the way, it forms part of the Mexico–United States border. According to the International Boundary and Water Commission, its total length was 1,896 miles (3,051 km) in the late 1980s, though course shifts occasionally result in length changes. Depending on how it is measured, the Rio Grande is the fourth- or fifth-longest river system in North America.
The river serves as part of the natural border between the U.S. state of Texas and the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas. A very short stretch of the river serves as the boundary between the U.S. states of Texas and New Mexico. Since the mid–20th century, heavy water consumption of farms and cities along with many large diversion dams on the river has left only 20% of its natural discharge to flow to the Gulf. Near the river's mouth, the heavily irrigated Rio Grande Valley is an important agricultural region. The Rio Grande is one of 19 Great Waters recognized by America's Great Waters Coalition.

Doug Supernaw Sings "RENO" in loving memory of Joe Deleon at the CMA of Texas awards dhow at Mo's Place in Katy, Texas 10-26-2016
Doug Supernaw hasn't been on the country charts too recently, but in his early days he made some good music. This song, which I got off the Encore Collection album, is an ode to Texas, the lone star state. Texans seem to have a higher sense of pride about their state (e.g. "Don't Mess With Texas") than other places I've traveled to. I've actually never been to Texas, and I'm sure it has plenty of downsides, but these pictures and music attempt to highlight the good things about Texas.

Ron Oates' name is a familiar one to anyone who has ever perused a CD insert or read the back of an album cover. The list of friends and artists with whom he's recorded reads like pages from a dreamscape... unreal. A 43-year veteran of the Nashville music industry, Ron's contributions as a session pianist/keyboardist, arranger, producer, and writer/composer, are often referred to as "impeccable" by his peers. He has worked with such greats as Gladys Knight, Olivia Newton-John, Anita Pointer, Dolly Parton, The Oak Ridge Boys, Eddy Arnold, Lefty Frizzell, Lynn Anderson, Vern Gosdin, The Judds, Keith Whitley, Marty Robbins, Bobby Goldsboro, Dottie West, Billy Joe Royal, Linda Davis, Earl Thomas Conley, and the list goes on. Featuring Koolwater Karaoke Recorded Live At Studio On 4th In Reno Nevada October 22 2013
Couldn't roll me a seven
If you gave me loaded dice
I couldn't draw a hand
If I sat here all night
Scared money bad whiskey
There ain't no way to win
This ain't the first time
It's the way it's always been
Chorus
You know the Lady's a lot like Reno
She ain't got a heart
And she don't care when your down
Just like the lights of a casino
She'll pull you in
And play with you awhile
But there ain't no way to win
I know, she's a lot like Reno
They're both out to break you
Take everything you got
When you finally win the hand
There ain't nothing in the pot
A gamble that I'm taking
But either one I choose
Lady or Reno either way I lose
2ND Chorus
You know the lady's a lot like Reno
She ain't got a heart
And she don't care when you're down
Just like the lights of a casino
She'll pull you in
And play with you awhile
But there ain't no way to win
And I know, she's a lot like Reno
You know the lady's a lot like Reno
She ain't got a heart
She don't care when you're down
Just like the lights of a casino
She'll pull you in
And play with you awhile
But there ain't no way to win
I know, she's a lot like Reno
Couldn't roll me a seven
