Sattam

Sattam is a 1983 Tamil-language Indian feature film directed by K. Vijayan and produced by Anandavalli Balaji, starring Kamal Haasan and Sarath Babu in lead roles while Madhavi played the heroine. The film was a remake of Hindi film Dostana (1980). The film was dubbed to Malayalam as Snehabandham.

Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan (born 7 November 1954) is an Indian film actor, screenwriter, director, producer, playback singer, choreographer, lyricist, philanthropist and dancer who works primarily in the Tamil film industry. Haasan has won several Indian film awards including four National Film Awards and 19 Filmfare Awards. With seven submissions, Kamal Haasan has starred in the highest number of films submitted by India for the Academy Award Best Foreign Language Film. Haasan's production company, Rajkamal International, has produced several of his films. Kamal Haasan received the Kalaimamani Award in 1979, the Padma Shri Award in 1990 and the Padma Bhushan Award in 2014.

After several projects as a child, Haasan's breakthrough as a lead actor came in the 1975 drama Apoorva Raagangal, in which he played a rebellious youth in love with an older woman. He won his first National Film Award for his portrayal of a guileless schoolteacher who cares for a childlike amnesiac in Moondram Pirai (1983). Haasan was noted for his performances in Mani Ratnam's crime film Nayagan (1987), rated by Time magazine as one of the best films in cinema history as well as Shankar's vigilante film Indian (1996) which saw him playing dual roles of a father and a son. Since then he has appeared in a number of films including Hey Ram (2000), Virumaandi (2004), Vishwaroopam (2013) which were his own productions and Dasavathaaram (2008) in which he played ten different roles.

Sarath Babu

Sarath Babu (Telugu: శరత్ బాబు) (born Sathyam Babu Dixithulu) is an Indian film actor, known for his works in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi films. He has been in the industry for nearly 37 years and has acted in more than 200 films, most of them in a supporting role. He has acted in 80 films each in Telugu and Tamil, 20 in Kannada, a few in Malayalam and Hindi He entered the film industry in 1973 through a Telugu film and later became popular through the Tamil film Nizhal Nijamagiradhu directed by K Balachander. He has received eight state Nandi Awards.

My first break was in Tamil directed by Balachander. The same was remade in Telugu as Idhi Katha Kadu with me, Kamal Haasan and Chiranjeevi and the film was a hit.

Sarath Babu was married twice. His first marriage was with actress Rama Prabha in 1981 and they got divorced in 1988.

Sarath Babu has received numerous awards, including eight Nandi awards as the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for his roles in Telugu movies.. In an interview, he said that he came close to winning the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Nenjathai Killadhe in 1980.
