Immigration law refers to national government policies which control the phenomenon of immigration to their country.

Immigraton law, regarding foreign citizens, is related to nationality law, which governs the legal status of people, in matters such as citizenship. Immigration laws vary from country to country, as well as according to the political climate of the times, as sentiments may sway from the widely inclusive to the deeply exclusive of new immigrants.

Immigration law regarding the citizens of a country is regulated by international law. The United Nations International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights mandates that all countries allow entry to its own citizens.

Certain countries may maintain rather strict laws which regulate both the right of entry and internal rights, such as the duration of stay and the right to participate in government. Most countries have laws which designate a process for naturalization, by which immigrants may become citizens.

The immigration laws in the United States have experienced uneven progress. During colonial times independent colonies created their immigration laws. The first attempt to naturalize foreigners was through the Naturalization Act of 1790. However many years later the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed to stop the immigration of Chinese people. The Immigration Act of 1924 put a quota on how many immigrants are permitted, based on nationality. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 led to the creation of the Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Scott Cameron Pelley (born July 28, 1957) is an American television journalist who is currently anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News and a correspondent for the CBS news magazine 60 Minutes. Prior to his 60 Minutes position, Pelley was a correspondent for the 60 Minutes II program and served as CBS News's chief White House correspondent.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, Pelley grew up in Lubbock, where he graduated from Coronado High School and obtained his first job in journalism at the age of fifteen as a copyboy for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. Staying close to home, he majored in journalism at Texas Tech University, in Lubbock.

Pelley is married to the former Jane Boone and has two children, daughter Blair and son Reece. They reside in Darien, Connecticut.

Pelley began his career as a broadcast journalist at Lubbock's KSEL-TV in 1975. He moved on to KXAS-TV in Fort Worth in 1978, then jumped to WFAA-TV in Dallas in 1982, remaining there for seven years. In 1985, Pelley's reporting on Guatemalan refugees living in remote jungles of Mexico caught the attention of executives at CBS News, but it would be another four years before Pelley would move to the CBS network.

Harjap Singh Bhangal LLB (born Essex), is an English Sikh lawyer, who specialises in Immigration and Nationality Law. He studied at Kingston University and then at The College of Law.

Bhangal is the founder of London Immigration Advice & Appeal Services Ltd, which has offices in Southall, West Bromwich, Leicester and Jalandhar. He also releases a monthly, bilingual, immigration magazine called Immigration Today, which discourages illegal immigration and promotes the correct ways to migrate abroad.

Bhangal has received the Bhārat Gaurav Sammān (Glory of India Award) from the India International Friendship Society, as well as being awarded a gold medal in the presence of Michael Anthony Arthur (former British High Commissioner to India).^{[citation needed]}

Harjap is regularly on TV and radio in the UK. His first TV show was called Law & U on Vectone Punjab, he currently appears in an MATV show called Legal Solutions. He has also appeared on Al Jazeera English, Radio XL, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live,BBC News,BBC One Wales and on Nihal's BBC Asian Network show.
