Central African Republic: Thousands forced to flee, health facilities looted
AUDIO SLIDE SHOW: Thousands of people in several areas of western Central African Republic have been forced to flee into the bush, taking with them only what they can carry on their backs. Health-care structures have been looted and health staff have fled, leaving no functioning facilities outside of the capital Bangui, except for those provided by humanitarian organizations. Just back from the field, Romaric Bekourou, a field officer at our delegation in Bangui, describes the situation on the ground and what we're doing to help.- published: 31 Oct 2013

Central African Republic Abandoned; MSF Provides Health Care
Abandoned by the international community, Central African Republic (CAR) is in the grips of violence perpetrated by armed groups. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) opened a pediatric program in the district hospital of Bria in August; every day some 200 children under 15 arrive. It's the rainy season and 75 percent of them have malaria. Others suffer from respiratory tract infections, diarrhea and malnutrition. Most health facilities no longer function here.- published: 18 Sep 2013

Our Month in Focus videos give you a chance to visit some of MSF's projects around the world.
This month our teams treated war wounded in Libya as fierce fighting continued in Sirte. In Somalia, millions of people need healthcare and MSF has been working with displaced people in Mogadishu.
Over in Haiti, MSF is working to control a cholera epidemic. And teams in the Central African Republic are tackling many health problems.

Shoot for Good - Contrast Exhibition 2011
SHOOT for GOOD is a Belgian non-profit organisation, based in Brussels. It was founded in 2009 by 4 friends with a shared passion for photography. The objectives of the organisation are two-fold:
• To support and promote the work of photographers.
• To financially support projects for social re-insertion through the Arts.
SHOOT for GOOD organizes photo exhibitions on a yearly basis, gathering pictures from amateurs, aficionados, and professionals alike around a common theme. The photographs exposed during the exhibitions are then sold as limited editions in order to raise funds for a specific charity.
The previous exhibitions were:
“6 milliards d’hommes” held at the SMART Showroom in Overijse
“Oh my God” held at Impressions du Centre, close to the Rue Dansaert, and
“Movements” in Tour & Taxis.
Through the success of these exhibitions the organization has raised over 30.000 €, donated in turn to the following NGO’s:
• Thirumalai Charity Trust, India, involved in rural development (women’s rights, health, agriculture, etc).
• Espace Masolo, Democratic Republic of Congo, fostering and enabling the re- insertion of child soldiers through the arts.
• Article 27, Belgium, giving greater access to cultural events and activities to people living in difficult social or economic conditions.
Whilst the initial exhibitions counted mainly amateur photographers amongst its participants, the success of the first editions has brought with it the participation of professional photographers from around the globe.
SHOOT for GOOD’s motto is “donate a picture”, encouraging professionals to contribute to the action by donating a picture of their own collection and authorizing us to sell it in their name.
As a result, SHOOT for GOOD is proud to count 17 professional photographers amongst the 31 participants for this year’s “Contrasts” exhibition.

Republic Day special: Story of achievements in health sector in six decades
- published: 26 Jan 2014
