Everybody is excited that Kate Moss' half-sister Lottie was signed to Stom Model Management - the agency that discovered Kate when she was a scrappy 14 year-old in JFK airport - on her sweet sixteenth birthday.

Lottie Moss was first noticed when she was a fresh faced, proper English Rose bridesmaid at big sister Kate's 2011 wedding to Jamie Hince. The model scouts were sniffing, but Lottie's mother told the UK paper the Evening Standard, "She's too young [to model professionally]. When she is old enough it will be her decision."

The time is now, it seems, with Lottie tweeting some of her portfolio with the caption 'wot you sayin'.

What people are saying is that Lottie is an awful lot like her extremely famous big sister, arguably the world's most successful model, and one not afraid of sexy photoshoots.

Lottie is tiny, model wise, just 5'5" in height, Kate is also considered small at 5'8, and Lottie has the same high cheek bones and cool Brittania vibe. But when do the comparisons between the two move into faintly unsettling territory?

For Hayley Hoover at The Gloss, it's when the comparisons of Lottie and Kate become less like sisters, and more like Oh Lottie is a mini version of Kate. As Hoover writes,

"The general response to Lottie’s emergence as a model has been a lot less of “look at this pretty, talented teenager” and a lot more of “look at this tiny, innocent version of Kate that we can stare at.”

Hoover points to the Daily Mail juxtaposing photos of Lottie with photos of a topless Kate Moss as evidence of creepy undertones to reporting on Lottie's debut. Remember, Lottie is 16, and also she is not a mini-version of her sister. She's actually her own person, surprising I know.

The comparisons are inevitable of course. But they make it difficult for Lottie to forge her own path, when everybody has already coloured in the lines for her.

Being Kate Moss' little sister is already a large enough shadow to emerge from without the media projecting their thoughts and feelings about Kate Moss onto her 16 year-old sibling.

It sounds like Lottie has entered the modelling world with her eyes wide open, but here's to hoping that the rest of world is going to follow suit.
