Kelden Edward Fraser and Cameron John Graham escaped from a security van at Geraldton Airport.

Kelden Edward Fraser and Cameron John Graham escaped from a security van at Geraldton Airport on Friday.

An aerial police search has led to the recapture of two violent prison inmates who escaped from a security van at Geraldton Airport in Mid West WA.

Cameron John Graham, 22, and Kelden Edward Fraser, 23, were captured after police used a plane to find their bush camp in the Mullewa area, near Geraldton.

Officers were deployed to the camp where they arrested Graham and Fraser just after 1am on Sunday.

The pair were taken to Greenough Regional Prison.

They had been on the run since escaping while being transferred from Geraldton Prison to Perth at 1pm on Friday.

They allegedly stole a car that was chased by police on the Great Northern Highway.

Graham was last year jailed for 11 years after breaking into a woman's home in Perth, threatening to murder her sleeping children and then raping her. He then forced her to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash.
