El rol histórico de la Universidad de Chile en la educación superior del país, en tanto principal “universidad pública” se ve reflejado también en la importancia que tiene la Federación de Estudiantes de la Universidad de Chile (FECH) dentro del movimiento estudiantil.

En este sentido las pasadas elecciones marcan un hito en cuanto al despliegue de la Izquierda de Intención Revolucionaria (IIR) ya que a través de la Plataforma Luchar se posicionan como una alternativa ante la apuesta del autonomismo y las juventudes comunistas. En este sentido es importante analizar que implica desde una perspectiva de clase, la emergencia de este tipo de alternativas que van a contramano de los análisis y proyecciones realizados por los medios de comunicación tradicional.

Le système capitaliste est en crise. La crise sociale actuelle n'est pas le fruit d'un «complot», ou de la dérive d'un mauvais «capitalisme financier» qui s'opposerait au vertueux « capitalisme industriel ». Ce n'est pas le fruit de la seule «spéculation» qui n'est qu'un des aspects du fonctionnement du capitalisme.

C'est le résultat des contradictions du système capitaliste lui-même, le résultat logique de l'organisation capitaliste de l'économie. Une organisation qui – même dans des conditions de fonctionnement « normales » - institue l'inégalité sociale, rendant inaccessible à l'immense majorité de la population la satisfaction de ses besoins de base, tout en lui rendant la vie insupportable.

In September 2012, shortly after the end of the largest unlimited general student strike in the history of Quebec, several class-struggle anarchist organisations in Canada along with a few local chapters of the IWW put together a cross-country tour to bring the history and experiences of the Quebec student movement to students and activists outside the province. Stopping in over a dozen cities from Toronto, Ontario to Victoria, BC, the tour brought a participant in the 2012 student strike to audiences in colleges and universities as well as union halls and various cooperatives. Depuis le week end dernier l’armée israélienne a amorcé une nouvelle attaque meurtrière contre la bande de Gaza, suite à l’attaque d’une Jeep de l’armée israélienne par des groupes de résistance armée palestiniens. Sous prétexte de s’en prendre à des «terroristes», les bombardements touchent en réalité pour l’essentiel des civil-es, y compris des enfants.

C’est bien à l’Etat d’Israël que revient la responsabilité de ce nouveau carnage. C’est lui qui par sa persistance à refuser aux Palestinien-nes la satisfaction de leurs droits les plus élémentaires, à les empêcher de vivre dignement, à maintenir un véritable état d’apartheid et à réprimer dans le sang la résistance que ces injustices occasionnent, maintient la Palestine dans un état de guerre perpétuelle...

There are some stories that are hard to cover - the death of Savita Halappanavar, a pregnant women, from septicemia whose life might have been saved if an abortion was not delayed is a hard as they come. According to the Irish Times Praveen Halappanavar, the husband of Savita said she had asked for a termination several times over a three day period only to be told "this is a catholic country."

All the ruling parties – Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, the Greens and the Labour party - have prevaricated, delayed, avoided and ignored the issue. This has led to two further court cases where girls in care had to go to the courts in order to be allowed to travel to another country. It has led to court cases over ownership of eggs used in IVF. It has, no doubt, led to the forced pregnancies of immigrant women who cannot travel. It has led to women ordering abortion drugs over the Internet. It has forced women to travel under stressful conditions at great expense to other countries, including women who are carrying foetuses who will not survive birth. And now the delay in carrying out a termination has led to the death of a women. Whether it’s due to cowardice or callousness, all the ruling parties have shown little concern for the misery they inflict on women's lives.
