Last issued record on the Mar-V-Lus imprint of One-derful! Records of Chicago. This is the type of record that late nite DJ's in Pittsburgh just loved. It's got that slow soulful, but doo-woppy feel to it. This wasn't heard much in the burgh, but i discovered this one years after it was issued. The A side of this record has made some noise with the Northern Soul fans, 'Would I Do It Over' is a big fave. Strangely, the title is spelled 'With Out You", but i suppose that's just the printers error. Pookie likes flipping them over, and I just love this gem. Don't know too much about this group except that this was their only release on Mar-V-Lus, and it's a winner. Enjoy more from Pookie's Chicago Soul box.

Walter Smith likes brothers. First he sang co-lead for the Admirations with the 3 Childs brothers on One-derful Records, then hooked up with these guys, the Donaldsons. First they recorded as Walter & the Admirations, then had to switch names for obvious legal reasons. The Admirations were still out there. Andre Williams gave them their name and produced these sides for Uni, and i might add the tracks he did with the Green Berets were some of the sweetest Soul sounds he produced. From 1970. this record followed '(Lord) Send Me Somebody', a good sized hit from the year before. Pookie loves this record, and it's no surprise it was written by Billy Butler. Quality stuff here. Enjoy Walter, Cliff Frazier, and the Donaldsons, Keith, David, and Brad. They are BAD!!! A Universal Music Group Recording.
