WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
WordPress.com is a hosting platform that makes it easy for anyone to publish online. You don’t have to download software, pay for hosting, or manage a web server. WordPress.com has hundreds of themes, and includes the functionality of many plugins, but you can’t upload your own plugins or themes.
WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database.

Everyone has been so good to me at WP--very patient, considerate, attentive. Recently I had a personal crisis, and wanted to cancel the blog I'd purchased the domain/registered--and the guys were really nice about it. Then, almost immediately, I was ready to start over again--got a new blog, and wanted the domain name, etc. Rachel was the Star support person, after that--as I tried the Custom upgrade, and I'm too much of a dweeb to understand CSS. So I cancelled that and she asked if there was something she could do to help. I took her up on the offer, said I just wanted my colored text back--and she told me it was there, so helpful, kind and friendly! As I told her, I will always be a WP person--once I find something I like, I'm true-blue. Thanks for the Outstanding Customer Service--I appreciate you so much.— Jael S.
