LAURA TOOSE AND JAMES JEFFRESON
ELKINGTON PARK, BALMAIN AND L’AQUA, COCKLE BAY, NSW

The meeting
James and Laura met when they were in high school and started dating when she was 14 and James 15. “We have been together since then, so over nine and a half years, and lived together since the day we finished high school,” says Laura. “We've shared the ups and downs of adolescent and adult life, travelled the world together and supported each other through each other's work and study,” she says. “We've seen each other every day for the past 7 years and have only had three nights apart in that time.”

The proposal
James managed to catch Laura by surprise by proposing on Valentine’s Day. “A few weeks earlier he had said ‘no one would ever propose on Valentine's Day because it's too cliche’,” says Laura. They had dinner reservations that evening but James couldn’t wait. “When I came home from work that day, James caught me by surprise right before we left to have dinner and proposed in our living room,” she says. They were so busying telling family and friends that they missed out on dinner altogether.

The wedding day
They made their vows in front of 110 people at Elkington Park in Balmain. There was no particular style, just a desire for it to be clean and elegant. “Definite highlights for me were the beautiful and wise readings during the ceremony...and getting to see James constantly grinning throughout the day,” says Laura. For James it was finally getting to see Laura in her dress (which he liked) as she had been joking about wearing a giant beaded/sequinned, pavlova style dress.

The dress
Laura wore a strapless, silk Bella georgette, A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline. It was the “Ashley” dress by Karen Willis Holmes with a few modifications to the bust.

The cake
It was a three-tiered, gluten-free, black velvet cake. It came from Sparkle Cupcakery in Surry Hills.

The photography
The photos were taken by T-One Image and by a friend, Sandie Jessamine.

The honeymoon
They went to Europe - Amsterdam, London, Edinburgh, Barcelona, Venice, Florence and Rome as well as Kuala Lumpur.
