Removing and replacing a defective rear calliper for a citroen xsara that features rear disks. Here the brake pads do the work of both the normal braking but also a cable operated lever operates the mechanism which clamps the pads to provide the handbrake.
I bought a new replacement calliper from ebay for £50, it seems like its a refurbished calliper that has sat in a warehouse for some time but it works very well. Its a fairly easy calliper to change, although its something of a nuisance that the centre console must be removed to access the nut which tensions the handbrake cable.
Its been a few years since i did the same job on a 306 but this is almost identical to the setup on the 306.

Desculpas mais uma vez pela baixa qualidade das imagem, não sei o que aconteceu, ao passar no editor a qualidade ficou ruim, E também por alguns erros de fala no vídeo. O veículo avaliado da semana é um Xsara picasso 2.0 Automático, com um belo motor de 140Cv deixa a desejar no consumo urbano, mais recompensa bastande na rodovia com 11km/L garantido, oferecendo uma bela segurança com 4 Air Bags, Freios ABS, sinto de 3 pontos para todos os ocupantes. Completo já de série ele oferece alguns mimos a mais.

Citroën Xsara Kit Car Rally Full Attack Rally & INSANE (Pure Sound) HD
The Xsara World Rally Car, based on the road-going Xsara hatchback but ultimately having very little resemblance to it under the skin, was one of the most successful cars ever to compete in the World Rally Championship. In 1999, the WRCs predecessor, the two-wheel-drive naturally aspirated Xsara Kit Car, won overall in Rallye Catalunya and Tour de Course. This car was considered the best car in the class. the late Philippe Bugalski placed seventh overall and won the Kit Car F2 class. In 2001, Kit Cars category disappeared and was replaced by Super 1600 and Super 2000. Citroen Xsara competed on category World Rally Car. In 2002, French driver Sébastien Loeb was going to win the Monte Carlo Rally but he was given a penalty because of an illegal tyre change. He took a win later on the Deutschland Rally. In 2003, the Citroen Xsara has been more competitive. In Wales GB, the leader Richard Burns suffered a blackout and withdrew from the rally. Sébastien Loeb made a lot of mistakes on last round and unfortunately, he lost the last round and lost the championship by just one point. However, the Citroën got the manufacturers' title and in 2004 Sébastien loeb won the championship. The car took Sébastien Loeb to 28 rally wins, three consecutive Driver's Championship titles from 2004 to 2006, and Citroën to three consecutive Manufacturer's Championship titles in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Although it is the Frenchman who has proved the archetype Xsara WRC pilot virtually since its 2001 conception, Jesús Puras, Carlos Sainz and François Duval are the other drivers to have won.
2003 world champion Petter Solberg drove a 2006-spec Xsara for the majority of the 2009 season, which was entered by his own Petter Solberg World Rally Team.[7]

Citroën Xsara
The Citroën Xsara is a small family car produced by French automaker Citroën from 1997 to 2006.
The Xsara was a development of the Citroën ZX and Peugeot 306, which shared a platform and running gear.
It came in three and five-door hatchback and five-door estate body styles; the estate was marketed as the Break and the three-door as the Coupé. The styling shared cues with the larger Bertone designed Xantia, but was regarded as bland by the motoring press. The straight-4 engine range includes 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0-litre petrol engines as well as 1.6, 1.9 and 2.0-litre turbodiesels, and in some countries, a 1.5-litre TUD diesel engine.
The Xsara was 1998 Semperit Irish Car of the Year in Ireland.
Chassis design
The familiar range of PSA powertrains drove the front wheels of a seemingly conventionally designed chassis. At the front was a standard MacPherson strut layout with anti-roll bar, while the rear used the PSA Peugeot-Citroën fully independent trailing arm/torsion bar set up that was first introduced on the Peugeot 305 estate. However, PSA's chassis engineers employed some unusual features, including passive rear wheel steering, though less than on the ZX, (by means of specially designed compliance bushes in the rear suspension), and in-house developed and constructed shock absorbers. At high mileages this is prone to wear of the axle mounting bushes which is easily fixed. It is also prone to wear in the rear axle trailing arm bearings, which then wear the trailing arm axle tubes, requiring an expensive rebuild or a replacement axle assembly. The diesel and larger capacity petrol engines are canted as far back as possible in the engine bay, in an effort to put as much weight as possible behind the front axle line, also reducing the centre of gravity, while improving weight distribution and minimising understeer.

Citroën Xsara Picasso
The Citroën Xsara Picasso was a 5-door compact MPV produced by Citroën from 1999 to 2010. The model was facelifted in 2004 with modifications to the front and rear design, changing from black bumpers to colour-matched paint with bright-inserts and painted sidestrips, known as Picasso 2. From 2007 a new shape was introduced, known as C4 Picasso.
At the time of its release, two trim levels were available, LX and SX, with a choice of three four-cylinder engines; a 1.6 and 1.8 litre petrols, and a 2.0 Litre HDI diesel engine, all shared with the smaller Citroën Xsara. A new 1.6 HDI diesel version with improved fuel efficiency was launched as part of the revised range in 2004.
Later designations were 'Desire', 'VTR', and the range-topping 'Exclusive' trim level, some with electric glass sunroof, was introduced to the UK market in late 2000. On all models, the front seat-backs have fold-down tables, and the rear seats can be removed to create extensive internal space for transportation of bulky items similar to a small van.

World Rally Championship
The World Rally Championship (WRC) is a rallying series organised by the FIA, culminating with a champion driver and manufacturer. The driver's world championship and manufacturer's world championship are separate championships, but based on the same point system. The series currently consists of 13 three-day events driven on surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice. Each rally is split into 15–25 special stages which are run against the clock on closed roads.
The WRC was formed from well-known and popular international rallies, most of which had previously been part of the European Rally Championship and/or the International Championship for Manufacturers, and the series was first contested in 1973. The World Rally Car is the current car specification in the series. It evolved from Group A cars which replaced the banned Group B supercars. World Rally Cars are built on production 1.6-litre four-cylinder cars, but feature turbochargers, anti-lag systems, four-wheel-drive, sequential gearboxes, aerodynamic parts and other enhancements bringing the price of a WRC car to around US$1 million (€700,000 / £500,000).

Removing and replacing a defective rear calliper for a citroen xsara that features rear disks. Here the brake pads do the work of both the normal braking but also a cable operated lever operates the mechanism which clamps the pads to provide the handbrake.
I bought a new replacement calliper from ebay for £50, it seems like its a refurbished calliper that has sat in a warehouse for some time but it works very well. Its a fairly easy calliper to change, although its something of a nuisance that the centre console must be removed to access the nut which tensions the handbrake cable.
Its been a few years since i did the same job on a 306 but this is almost identical to the setup on the 306.

Citroën Xsara Kit Car Rally Full Attack Rally & INSANE (Pure Sound) HD
The Xsara World Rally Car, based on the road-going Xsara hatchback but ultimately having very little resemblance to it under the skin, was one of the most successful cars ever to compete in the World Rally Championship. In 1999, the WRCs predecessor, the two-wheel-drive naturally aspirated Xsara Kit Car, won overall in Rallye Catalunya and Tour de Course. This car was considered the best car in the class. the late Philippe Bugalski placed seventh overall and won the Kit Car F2 class. In 2001, Kit Cars category disappeared and was replaced by Super 1600 and Super 2000. Citroen Xsara competed on category World Rally Car. In 2002, French driver Sébastien Loeb was going to win the Monte Carlo Rally but he was given a penalty because of an illegal tyre change. He took a win later on the Deutschland Rally. In 2003, the Citroen Xsara has been more competitive. In Wales GB, the leader Richard Burns suffered a blackout and withdrew from the rally. Sébastien Loeb made a lot of mistakes on last round and unfortunately, he lost the last round and lost the championship by just one point. However, the Citroën got the manufacturers' title and in 2004 Sébastien loeb won the championship. The car took Sébastien Loeb to 28 rally wins, three consecutive Driver's Championship titles from 2004 to 2006, and Citroën to three consecutive Manufacturer's Championship titles in 2003, 2004, and 2005. Although it is the Frenchman who has proved the archetype Xsara WRC pilot virtually since its 2001 conception, Jesús Puras, Carlos Sainz and François Duval are the other drivers to have won.
2003 world champion Petter Solberg drove a 2006-spec Xsara for the majority of the 2009 season, which was entered by his own Petter Solberg World Rally Team.[7]
