Councillors at the City of Perth have rejected a full merger with the City of Vincent at special meeting last night. Paul Murray spoke to City of Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi who said that the council voted 7 to 1 to embrace only parts of the City of Vincent.
Brady's Cazaly is back
It's the unofficial anthem of footy but unthinkably 'Up There Cazaly' was cast aside from pre game entertainment of the Grand Final because the AFL wanted to modernise the event. Well Mike Brady's anthem is back and he performed on 6PR's Breakfast show.
Swan River Trust axed
The axing of the Swan River Trust has angered conservationists and raised concerns over the future of the fragile Swan and Canning river systems. Paul Murray spoke to Environment Minister Albert Jacob about the move and questioned if it was just a cost cutting move.

Council busts drugged worker
The City of Bunbury has suspended 12 employees without pay after they failed a urine drug test this month as the council drug tests about 200 staff. Paul Murray spoke to Chief Executive at the City of Bunbury, Andrew Brien, about the testing which is now being looked at by other councils.

First home owners’ changes
From today the State Government’s changes to the first home owners grant will come into affect. Buyers who purchase a newly-constructed home will be eligible for a $10,000 grant, while established home buyers will receive $3000. Rod Tiley spoke with REIWA’s David Airey.

MLA Frank Alban has just learnt a very valuable lesson during a heated exchange at the Your Suburb, Your Voice meeting in Midland last night when he questioned Paul Murray on his memory of Mr Alban's promise of light rail for Ellenbrook. Paul was right and Frank was wrong.
Sport clean up
Newly appointed Sport Minister Peter Dutton has told Rod Tiley he wants to come down hard on athletes who cheat. Mr Dutton said while 99 per cent of athletes compete clean, the one per cent who don’t should be held accountable for their actions.

15000 teachers protest changes
Around 12,000 teaching professionals have packed Gloucester Park to protest proposed changes to the educational funding and standards. Lisa Barnes was at the rally and told Paul Murray the teachers were resolute in there opposition to the changes and more action was planned.

Warnbro Senior High School has become the text book example of how changes to the education funding model will cripple schools and ruin award winning teaching programs. Paul Murray spoke to Paul Papalia about the cuts as callers to 6PR voiced their support for planned teacher strikes.
54 schools closed by strike
The industrial action taken by teachers tomorrow will close around 54 school for at least half a day according to the education department. Paul Murray spoke to Director General of the Education Department Sharyn O'Neill. Check the current list of schools affected here.
