Nearly 300 anti-fascists were arrested on Saturday following attempts to prevent the far-right English Defence League (EDL) from marching in the London borough of Tower Hamlets.
The English Defence League have announced plans to march to Altab Ali Park* for a rally on 7th September. This is clearly an arrogant and incendiary declaration even by their own (sub) standards. Aleksey “Raskhod” Raskhodchikov, anarchist, antifascist and musician was beaten and arrested by police on the night of 23 July in Murmansk city centre. In the main square, policemen surrounded a group of punk-rockers and without any reason asked for IDs. Raskhod tried to ask for the police officers' documents, but he was beaten and arrested.
