Stuart Cosgrove (born 12 November 1952) is a Scottish journalist, broadcaster and television executive. As a journalist Cosgrove served on the NME (Media Editor) and The Face during the 1980s, before joining Channel 4 in April 1994, serving for eight years as Controller of Arts and Entertainment and currently as Head of Programmes (Nations and Regions).

Cosgrove graduated in Drama and English from the University of Hull and has studied at George Mason University, Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and Wharton Business School. He has a Ph.D. in Media (the thesis published as part of the book ''Theatres of the Left, 1880-1935'') and a Doctorate in English and American Studies and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Arts by the University of Abertay Dundee and honorary professorships by the University of Stirling and Liverpool John Moores University.

In Scotland, Cosgrove is probably best known as the co-host of BBC Radio Scotland's popular comedy football phone-in Off The Ball which he presents twice a week with Tam Cowan, and as the co-host of BBC Scotland's Saturday football results show Sportscene Results. Born and brought up in Perth, he is an avid fan of the town's football club St Johnstone. He also wrote a book, ''Hampden Babylon'', revealing the seedier side of the Scottish football scene.

In 2007 and 2008 he presented "Stuart Cosgrove's Floorfillers" on BBC Radio Scotland, dedicated to Northern and Rare Soul music, of which he is a fan.

His "''Haha, Fantastic, ye cannae beat it''" quote is used by satirist and impressionist Jonathan Watson.

Jonathan Watson is a Scottish comedian and impressionist best known for his comedy sketch show Only an Excuse?, which parodies people and events from the world of Scottish football. Watson also regularly appeared on Tam Cowan's Offside television programme on BBC One Scotland where he performed a scaled-down version of ''Only an Excuse?'' called "Only a Wee Excuse". Watson trained at a drama school in Glasgow.

Watson has also turned his hand to political satire with his Watson's Wind Up show which was recorded on Fridays at the Glasgow Film Theatre and broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland; the popularity of this led to Watson performing satires of Scottish politicians such as Cathy Jamieson, George Galloway and Charles Kennedy on Offside.

Watson also does occasional work as an actor. He was a cast member of all 5 Naked Video series and also appeared in BBC Scotland sitcom ''City Lights. Other credits include 'Jonathan' in the film Local Hero, an episode of BBC1's Casualty in 2001 as 'Billy Shears' and also an episode of ITV1's The Bill'' in 2005 as 'Rev. Lewis'.

Hugh Dallas MBE (born 26 October 1957 in Allanton, near Shotts) is a Scottish former football referee. He officiated at two FIFA World Cup tournaments, in 1998 and 2002; he was appointed fourth official for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Final. Dallas also officiated at the 1996 Olympic Games, the 1999 UEFA Cup Final and several UEFA Champions League matches.

From June 2009 until November 2010, Dallas was the SFA's Referee Development Officer.

Refereeing career

Early career

Dallas refereed his first amateur match in 1982 between Motherwell Bridgeworks and Victoria AFC. His first foreign engagement came in 1988 when he was a linesman at a Cup Winners' Cup tie between Sampdoria and Carl Zeiss Jena. While running the line at the 1993 Toulon Tournament, Dallas stopped a match between Czechoslovakia and Portugal after spotting a serious injury to Czech player Martin Svedik. Dallas was credited with saving the player's life and thanked by Ivan Kopecky, the coach of the Czech team, for his intervention.

Early in his career, Dallas took the advice of Brian McGinlay and began to referee international matches in a different way to those in Scotland. Dallas contends that foreign players dive more than their Scottish counterparts and that the diving of foreign players who enter Scottish football is reduced by Scottish match officials.

1996 Summer Olympics

Dallas was one of 12 referees selected to officiate at the 1996 summer olympics in the USA. During the tournament Dallas was the referee at three group matches.

1998 FIFA World Cup

In June 1997, Dallas refereed an important 1998 FIFA World Cup qualification match between Spain and the Czech Republic. Early in the second half, Alfonso Pérez fell over in the Czech penalty area at least two metres away from Czech goalkeeper Pavel Srníček, but Dallas awarded a penalty kick to Spain. In 2003, Dallas rated the mistake as the worst of his career. Dallas admitted to embarrassment and guilt after the match, as the penalty kick proved decisive in giving a 1–0 win to Spain. Their defeat cost the Czech Republic any chance of qualifying for the 1998 FIFA World Cup.

The first match at the 1998 FIFA World Cup for Dallas was a 2–2 draw between Mexico and Belgium. He sent off Pavel Pardo and Gert Verheyen during the match, decisions which divided opinion. Martin O'Neill and Alan Hansen criticised Dallas, but Trevor Steven thought he performed well. Dallas was also the referee for the quarter final match between Italy and France. More than a decade later, Dallas admitted to surprise and disappointment at being overlooked for the later stages of the competition.

Celtic v Rangers, May 1999

In May 1999, Dallas presided over an important Old Firm fixture. Celtic needed to beat Rangers in this match to prevent their rivals winning the Scottish Premier League championship at Celtic Park. The match was given a Sunday evening kick-off for reasons of live Sky Sports television coverage.

It began in a frenzied atmosphere, with Dallas penalising two fouls within the first minute. There were several flashpoints both during and after the game. This included an incident in which Dallas was hit on the head by a coin thrown by a Celtic supporter. The match was stopped for several minutes while Dallas received treatment for a resulting head wound. Dallas sent off three players (two Celtic, one Rangers) and awarded a penalty kick to Rangers. Over the course of the match at least four Celtic fans invaded the field of play to confront Dallas, while a Celtic fan fell from an upper section of terracing and was taken to hospital. Rangers won the match 3-0 and therefore won the league championship.

Later that evening, a brick was thrown through a window in Dallas' home. A behavioural psychologist was hired by Celtic to investigate his behaviour during the match. Celtic chief executive Allan MacDonald claimed the report criticised Dallas for making friendly gestures towards Rangers players. However the report largely supported Dallas' performance in the match, and blamed the behaviour of players instead. Since the events of that day, Old Firm league matches have normally been played in the early afternoon and the possibility of an Old Firm title decider has been deliberately avoided.

UEFA Euro 2000

UEFA offered Dallas police protection after he awarded Italy a controversial late penalty in their 2–1 win over Turkey at Euro 2000. Turkey coach Mustafa Denizli called the decision "unforgivable" while furious Turkish fans jeered and pelted Dallas with missiles. The ''Sabah'' newspaper termed Dallas "the ref of nightmares" the following day and Clive Thomas suggested Dallas' performance was marked by a lack of courage and an inability to keep up with play. Dallas' former colleague Brian McGinlay agreed that the penalty decision was wrong, but nevertheless claimed Dallas was "the best referee in Britain."

After refereeing another group game in which he was criticised, Dallas was reduced to a fourth official role in the semi–final match between France and Portugal. UEFA's decision to overlook Dallas for the final stages was met with disappointment in the Scottish newspaper media, since they had hoped that he would be in charge of at least one of the semi-final matches. Dallas in response to this said; �?I wouldn't say that I was disappointed because I never imagined that the final was a possibility.’ In spite of events at the tournament, Dallas' stated "There have been 28 games so far and very little controversy with regards the decisions that have been made".

During the routine review of matches, which highlights correct decisions as well as errors, Dallas' performance in the early matches was given the equivalent of a gold star by UEFA committee member Ken Ridden. The committee were also impressed by his man management skills.

AC Milan v Deportivo de La Coruña March 2001

Dallas presided over AC Milan's exit from the 2000–01 UEFA Champions League, in a 1–1 draw at the San Siro which ''The New York Times'' described as "a game of two dubious penalties." A sequence of controversial decisions saw the crowd pelt Dallas with missiles including coins, fruit, bottles and cigarette lighters as he left the field under police protection.

2002 FIFA World Cup

During the 2002 FIFA World Cup tournament, Portugal objected to Dallas' selection for their group-stage game with Poland, referring to their experience with Dallas during UEFA Euro 2000. Portugal went on to win the match 4-0.

Dallas refereed the quarter–final between the USA and Germany. Early in the second half, he declined to award a penalty kick to the USA after a shot by Gregg Berhalter was blocked on the goalline by the outstretched arm of defender Torsten Frings. After what was described as the "refereeing oversight," German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn admitted "we were lucky." Dallas defended his decision on the grounds that Frings did not intend to handle the ball, commenting "If it's not intentional it's not a foul, no matter where it is." In the same match Dallas cautioned Oliver Neuville for a foul committed by his teammate Jens Jeremies, having mistaken their identities. Although Dallas attested to the backing of his refereeing inspector over the incidents, FIFA remarked upon their "concern [at] one or two major mistakes." Pele described the general standard of refereeing at the tournament as "very, very poor."

Dallas was selected as fourth official for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Final between Brazil and Germany. According to Dallas, the Brazilian players insisted he join them following their celebratory team huddle dance around the World Cup trophy.

Writing in 2010, Graham Poll paid tribute to Dallas, describing him as "a superb referee who was respected throughout the world of football".

Head of Referee Development

Dallas retired as a match referee at the end of the 2004–05 Scottish football season, a year earlier than the mandatory retirement age. He then acted as a referee observer for the Scottish Premier League and was appointed to the UEFA Referees' Committee. Dallas was also appointed to a new Referee Certification Panel, one of two panels introduced in connection with UEFA's Referee Convention, while he continued his role as a UEFA referee observer.

Dallas was appointed Head of Referee Development by the Scottish Football Association in 2009. He was soon involved in a public dispute with Motherwell manager Jim Gannon over refereeing decisions. In February 2010, Dallas expressed disappointment at refereeing standards in the SPL, after several high-profile refereeing errors were made in a short space of time.

In November 2010, assistant referee Steven Craven accused Dallas of exerting pressure on him to support referee Dougie McDonald, who had lied about a disallowed penalty incident in a match at Tannadice Park. Dallas himself had publicly repeated McDonald's false version of events but denied allegations of "bullying and harrassment". Dallas was supported personally by the SFA, though the body promised an overhaul of referee discipline.

Later in November 2010, Dallas faced an inquiry after it emerged that he had allegedly sent what has been described as a sectarian and offensive email referring to the Pope from his SFA email account. The SFA issued a statement on 10 November stating that an investigation would be carried out. On 24 November, the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland wrote to the SFA demanding that they remove Dallas from his position if the allegation was proved. Dallas was sacked by the SFA on 26 November, after chief executive Stewart Regan had concluded the investigation into the allegations. Four other SFA employees were also sacked; three of whom were later reinstated. Dallas planned to sue the SFA for unfair dismissal, but the case was settled before it reached court.

After Dallas was sacked there was concern from referees in Scotland that standards of officiating could drop. Fifa listed Scottish referee Craig Thomson said, "I see him as a world-class individual within Scottish football, There is a lot of work behind the scenes that I'm hoping won't be lost." Referee John McKendrick said, "It's certainly a major blow for Scottish refereeing, At the peak of his game, there are very few figures in Scottish football who have been at the level Hugh Dallas was at."

Outside football

Dallas was the managing director of his own window and construction company, until it went into receivership in 2002. In December 2002, Dallas was awarded an MBE for his services to football.

As discovered by TV show ''Fantasy Football League'', Dallas was once a contestant on ''Family Fortunes''. Dallas has also worked as an after-dinner speaker.

His son Andrew is also a referee.

Dallas replaced Pierluigi Collina at Soccer Aid 2008, after Collina was injured.

Miranda Taylor Cosgrove (born May 14, 1993) is an American film and television actress and pop recording artist. Cosgrove played the roles of Megan Parker in ''Drake & Josh'' and title character in ''iCarly''. Her career started at the age of three, participating in television commercials. Cosgrove's film debut was in 2003, as Summer Hathaway in ''School of Rock''. After years of small television appearances, Cosgrove was cast into the hit show ''Drake & Josh'' and later in ''iCarly''. As of May 2010, Cosgrove earned US$180,000 per episode of ''iCarly'', making her the second highest paid child star on television.

Following the success of ''iCarly'', a soundtrack album was released in June 2008, in which she performed four songs. Cosgrove's debut album ''Sparks Fly'' was released on April 27, 2010.

Biography

Early life

Cosgrove was born in Los Angeles, to Tom, who owns a dry cleaning business, and Chris (née Casey), a stay-at-home mother. At the age of three, she was discovered by a talent agent while singing and dancing at the Los Angeles restaurant Taste of L.A. Cosgrove stated that when the agent walked up to her and her mom for modeling, she had "never really thought of being an [actress]" and "was lucky". After choosing to take the offer, she appeared in television commercials for McDonald's and Mello Yello, and also modeled. At the age of seven, Cosgrove decided that "[she] loved doing it" and auditioned for theater and television roles.

2001–2007: Rise to fame

Cosgrove's first television appearance was in 2001 as a 5-year old Lana Lang in the pilot of ''Smallville''. Cosgrove then made her film debut with the 2003 film ''School of Rock''. In the movie, she played Summer Hathaway, a young girl with great ambition and discipline who finds herself adjusting to the free-spirited nature of the new teacher by becoming band manager of classroom's rock band. ''School of Rock'' was both a box office hit, grossing over $131,282,949 worldwide, and critical success, receiving a 91 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes. Cosgrove's acting on the film was praised with David Ansen of ''Newsweek'' describing it as "spot on". She said of the experience of working with Jack Black: "The first week it was like, 'Oh, my God, that's Jack Black,' but two weeks later it was fine. He's really funny. Sometimes the director would say, 'Jack you can't make them laugh so much.'" She cited the scene as trying to sing wrong as very difficult. Cosgrove stated that "I got a 45-minute lesson from Jim O'Rourke of Sonic Youth on how to sing badly. I've been taking singing lessons for about five years, so getting to sing badly was new. The director kept saying, 'Try to sing even worse, Miranda,' so it was weird." She is grateful she was in ''School of Rock'', as it exposed her to classic rock songs she was unfamiliar with. "After the movie," said Cosgrove, "I discovered Led Zeppelin and I've taken up the electric guitar".

2004 saw Cosgrove breaking out into the television network. She guest starred in a special episode of the animated series ''What's New, Scooby-Doo?'', as well as guest starring in a season five episode of ''Grounded For Life'', portraying the character of Jessica. Cosgrove also got her first major role in a television series, when she was awarded a main role in the Nickelodeon series, ''Drake & Josh'', alongside Drake Bell and Josh Peck. In the series, she portrayed the mischievous sister of the title character, Megan Parker. The show made its debut on January 11, 2004 and drew positive responses in ratings. Cosgrove said this about show: "It's like a big family. We know each other so well, nothing is embarrassing anymore....It's really comfortable, and it's really fun." While on the show, she was able to develop a partnership with Dan Schneider, known for producing various Nickelodeon shows, such as ''Zoey 101'', ''The Amanda Show'', ''Kenan & Kel'', and ''All That''.

In 2005, Miranda was awarded the role of 'Munch' in the Disney channel film ''Here Comes Peter Cottontail: The Movie''. In the film, Miranda portrays a female mouse who is rescued from a hawk by Junior and Flutter, and subsequently comes along for the adventure that the characters must take. Cosgrove also guest-starred on two episodes of the animated comedy, ''Lilo & Stitch: The Series''. The television series, which aired on Disney, is a spin-off of the original film, ''Lilo & Stitch''. Cosgrove was also rewarded her second major role in a theatrical film, when she cast alongside ''Drake & Josh'' co-star Drake Bell in the comedy film ''Yours, Mine and Ours'', in which she portrayed the character Joni. The film was a minor success at the box office. ''Yours, Mine and Ours'' opened at number three, with an opening weekend of $17,461,108 in the US. Cosgrove later starred in her third theatrical release, ''Keeping Up with the Steins'', which was released to generally negative reviews from critics. The film was also a failure at the box office. She also earned a role in the straight to DVD film ''The Wild Stallion''.

2007–present: ''iCarly'' and music career

Cosgrove kicked off 2007 by appearing in several Nickelodeon television series. The first of these appearances was in ''Zoey 101'', which starred Jamie Lynn Spears and Victoria Justice. Cosgrove later guest starred on an episode of ''Unfabulous'', which starred Emma Roberts. In the episode, Cosgrove guest starred as a sweet girl named Cosmina. 2007 saw the end of ''Drake & Josh'', with the final episode airing on September 16, 2007. However, Cosgrove was already in the works of starring in her own series, titled ''iCarly''.

Schneider tailored ''iCarly'' around the interest young people have in the internet. A unique part of this show is the fact that viewers may submit their own videos and also be included in the show. Cosgrove said of the audience participation aspect, "When I first heard about the idea, I thought it was so cool. If I were home and watching TV, I'd want to send in a video." By the summer of 2008, the show was the third highest rated in the 9–14 demographic. The "iCarly Saves TV" special extended episode, became the most-viewed entertainment show on cable TV in June 2008.

Cosgrove's debut as a recording artist began with the ''iCarly'' theme song "Leave It All to Me". The song features her former ''Drake & Josh'' castmate Drake Bell and is written by Michael Corcoran, one of Bell's band members. It was released as a single in December 2007 through digital distribution and eventually peaked at number 100 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The album debuted at number one on the ''Billboard'' Kid Albums chart. In June 2008, Columbia Records released the ''iCarly'' soundtrack, which featured four songs performed by Cosgrove ("Leave It All to Me", "Stay My Baby", "About You Now", and "Headphones On"). Critical reception for her performance was positive. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of Allmusic stated that Cosgrove proved "herself to be an appealingly spunky singer" and the "good tunes" she performed "[made] the most of her girlish talents". However, Erlewine noted that the "focus [was] not on her" because of other artists, she but rather "[blended] in the mix". The following promotional single "Stay My Baby" failed to reach the charts, but "About You Now" reached number 47 on the Hot 100 in January 2009, becoming her most successful single to date.

Cosgrove became one of MTV's Female Pop Rookies of 2009. In December 2008, a cover of the holiday song "Christmas Wrapping" was released to promote the hour-long special ''Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh''. On February 3, 2009, Cosgrove released her first solo recording, the extended play ''About You Now'', exclusively on the iTunes Store. The extended play featured the title track, a remix of it, and a remix of "Stay My Baby", as well as two new songs, "F.Y.I." and "Party Girl". To promote the 2009 animated film ''Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs'', Columbia Records released a single entitled "Raining Sunshine" with an accompanying music video in August 2009.

Since July 2008, plans for a debut album have been active. In an interview with MTV News, Cosgrove discussed the forthcoming album. Cosgrove reported to be "co-writing and getting really into" the album, as oppose to the ''iCarly'' soundtrack in which she "just picked songs that meant a lot to [her], that [she] really liked." She also described the album as "still pop rock fun" in comparison to her previous work on the ''iCarly'' soundtrack, though "a little more mature". Themes for the album are "love songs and just fun songs about hanging out with your girlfriends". When releasing ''About You Now'', Cosgrove further elaborated on the album's concepts. She described working with producers and songwriters The Matrix and Dr. Luke as "definitely different". Cosgrove also worked with songwriters Leah Haywood and Daniel James, and said that "most of the songs are fun, pop, rock-girl empowerment". She noted that "there's one ballad that's kind of sad" and that "it's called 'What Are You Waiting For?' It's about a girl who likes a guy [but he doesn't feel the same way]". She added it's something she's experienced in her own life: "I definitely have guys that I'm friends with that I have a crush on, and you don't want to ruin the friendship". The album was released in April 2010, and the first single from her album, "Kissin' U", was premiered on Ryan Seacrest's radio show on March 12, 2010, and released to iTunes on March 23, 2010. The album, titled ''Sparks Fly'', debuted and peaked at number 8 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart.

She signed with skin care and cosmetics company Neutrogena on February 12, 2010, as an ambassador. On March 17, 2010, it was reported that Cosgrove had signed a deal, reportedly in the "low- to mid-seven-figure range" to do 26 additional episodes of ''iCarly''. Cosgrove voiced a character in Universal Studios' 3-D computer animated feature ''Despicable Me'', released in July 2010. In January 2011, Cosgrove revealed that her new EP would be titled ''High Maintenance'', and also released the first single from the same. The song, titled "Dancing Crazy", was written by Max Martin, Shellback, and Avril Lavigne, and produced by Martin and Shellback. With three weeks of airplay, the song debuted at number 40 on the US ''Billboard'' Adult Pop Songs.

Dancing Crazy Tour

The Dancing Crazy Tour was the debut solo tour by American entertainer, Miranda Cosgrove. visiting North America, the trek will support her first studio album, ''Sparks Fly''. The tour began in Missouri and travel throughout the United States and ended in Ohio. Cosgrove continued the tour into the summer to promote her second EP, ''High Maintenance''. Dubbed the Dancing Crazy Summer Tour, the singer will travel the United States and Canada, performing at music festivals and state fairs. In November, Cosgrove will headline six concerts in Brazil, giving the singer in first performances in South America.

On August 11, 2011, Cosgrove broke her ankle in a tour bus accident in Illinois forcing the postponement of her U.S. tour dates. The remainder of the tour has since been canceled.

Johnnie Lucille Collier, better known as Ann Miller (April 12, 1923 – January 22, 2004) was an American singer, dancer and actress.

Early life

Miller was born in Chireno, Texas to Clara Emma (née Birdwell) and John Alfred Collier, a criminal lawyer who represented the Barrow Gang, Machine Gun Kelly, and Baby Face Nelson, among others. Miller's maternal grandmother was Cherokee. Miller's father insisted on the name Johnnie because he had wanted a boy, but she was often called Annie. She took up dancing to exercise her legs to help her rickets. She was considered a child dance prodigy. In an interview featured in a "behind the scenes" documentary on the making of the compilation film ''That's Entertainment III'', she said that Eleanor Powell was an early inspiration.

Career

At the age of 13 Miller had been hired as a dancer in the "Black Cat Club" in San Francisco (she reportedly told them she was 18). It was there she was discovered by Lucille Ball and talent scout/comic Benny Rubin. This led Miller to be given a contract with RKO in 1936 at the age of 13 (she had also told them she was 18) and she remained there until 1940. The following year, Miller was offered a contract at Columbia Pictures. She finally hit her mark (starting in the late 1940s and Early 1950s ) in her roles in MGM musicals such as ''Kiss Me Kate'', ''Easter Parade'', and ''On the Town''.

Miller popularized pantyhose in the 1940s as a solution to the problem of continual torn stockings during the filming of dance production numbers. The common practice had been to sew hosiery to briefs worn by Miller. If torn, the entire garment had to be removed and resewn with a new pair. At Miller's request, hosiery was manufactured for her as a single pantyhose.

Miller was famed for her speed in tap dancing. Studio publicists concocted press releases claiming she could tap 500 times per minute, but in truth, the sound of ultra-fast "500" taps was looped in later. Because the stage floors were slick and slippery, she actually danced in shoes with rubber soles. Later she would loop the sound of the taps while watching the film and actually dancing on a "tap board" to match her steps in the film.

In 1970, satirist Stan Freberg, father of the funny commercial, used Miller and her tap-dancing skills in a television commercial for "Great American Soups." Miller initially plays a housewife asked by her "husband" (Dave Willock) what she's prepared for dinner. She throws off her house frock to reveal a sequined dance outfit, and the kitchen set splits open to reveal a huge Hollywood stage, showcasing a giant can of soup, atop which Miller sings and dances, accompanied by a double chorus line. At the end of the commercial, she returns to the kitchen set, where the husband character exclaims, ''"Why do you have to make such a big 'production' out of everything?"'' According to Freberg, the commercial cost so much to produce that little money was left in the advertising budget to purchase airtime for it. The commercial can be seen on the video accompanying Freberg's boxed set release, "The Tip of the Freberg".

She was known, especially later in her career, for her distinctive appearance, which reflected a studio-era ideal of glamor: massive black bouffant hair, heavy makeup with a slash of crimson lipstick, and fashions that emphasized her lithe figure and long dancer's legs. Her film career effectively ended in 1956 as the studio system lost steam to television, but she remained active in the theatre and on television. She starred on Broadway in the musical "Mame" in 1969, in which she wowed the audience in a tap number created just for her. In 1979 she astounded audiences in the Broadway show ''Sugar Babies'' with fellow MGM veteran Mickey Rooney, which toured the United States extensively after its Broadway run. In 1983, she won the Sarah Siddons Award for her work in Chicago theatre.

She appeared in a special 1982 episode of ''The Love Boat'', joined by fellow showbiz legends Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Della Reese, Van Johnson, and Cab Calloway in a storyline that cast them as older relatives of the show's regular characters. In 2001 she took her last role, playing Coco in auteur director David Lynch's critically acclaimed ''Mulholland Drive''. Her last stage performance was a 1998 production of Stephen Sondheim's ''Follies'', in which she played the hardboiled survivor Carlotta Campion and received rave reviews for her rendition of the song, "I'm Still Here".

Miller also appeared as a dance instructor to Tim and Jill on the 1993 ''Home Improvement'' episode entitled ''Dances with Tools''. For her contribution to the motion picture industry, Ann Miller has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6914 Hollywood Blvd.

Between 1995 and 2001, Molly Shannon parodied Miller several times on Saturday Night Live in a sketch entitled ''Leg-Up!''

She died, aged 80, from cancer, which had metastasized to her lungs, and was interred in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
