P. Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up) - Parliament (1975)
P. Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up) - Parliament (1975)
"P. Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up)" is a funk song by Parliament. It is the first track on their 1975 album "Mothership Connection" and was the first single to be released from the album. It was also released as the B-side of the album's second single, "Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker)". It reached number 33 on the US R&B chart. "Mothership Connection" is the fourth album by American funk band Parliament, released in 1975. This concept album of P-Funk mythology is usually rated as one of Parliament's best. "Mothership Connection" was the first P-Funk album to feature Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley, who had left The JB's, James Brown's backing band. "Mothership Connection" became Parliament's first album to be certified gold and later platinum. In 2003 the TV network VH1 named "Mothership Connection" the 55th greatest album of all time. Parliament was a funk band most prominent during the 1970s. It and its sister act Funkadelic, both led by George Clinton, began the funk music culture of that decade. George Clinton (born July 22, 1941) is an American singer, songwriter, bandleader, and music producer and the principal architect of P-Funk. He was the mastermind of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic during the 1970s and early 1980s, and began his work as a solo artist in 1981. He has been called one of the most prominent innovators of funk music. Clinton became a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, after being inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of ...

Garry Shider RIP - A Tribute Memorial Video
This is a Genuine G-Shot celebrating the life of Garry Shider, guitarist for GeorgeClinton Funkadelic Parliment Band who died on June 16th at the age of 56. Garry Shider, guitarist with George Clinton's funk band, dies at 56 By Terence McArdle Washington Post Staff Writer Monday, June 21, 2010 Garry Shider, 56, a singer and guitarist whose work with the funk groups Parliament-Funkadelic and Bootsy's Rubber Band influenced later acts such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers and earned him a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, died June 16 at his home in Upper Marlboro. He had performed during a final tour in April after having brain and lung cancer diagnosed in March. Mr. Shider often took to the stage wearing only a loincloth -- an act for which his fans dubbed him the "diaperman." He frequently served as band director for Parliament-Funkadelic while sharing guitar duties with Eddie Hazel and also performed with Bootsy's Rubber Band, led by Funkadelic bassist Bootsy Collins. Critic Geoffrey Himes writing in The Washington Post once praised Mr. Shider's "restlessly inventive techno-funk." Parliament-Funkadelic, led by singer George Clinton, is perhaps the most popular act in the funk genre. P-funk, as it is informally known, combines gospel vocal harmonies, funk rhythms and psychedelic guitars with elaborate props, costumes and theater. The band's most ardent fans, funkateers, follow the band from city to city and often dress in costumes as elaborate as the band's ...

Aqua Boogie (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop) [Original 12" Version] - Parliament (1978)
"Aqua Boogie (A Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)" was a song by funk band Parliament. Released from their 1978 album, "Motor Booty Affair", it spent four weeks at number one on the R&B singles chart during the winter of 1979. However, it was not as successful on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, only peaking at number eighty-nine. The track features lead vocals by George Clinton, Garry Shider, Ray Davis, and newly recruited member Walter 'Junie' Morrison. It is one of the last P-Funk tracks written by Clinton, bassist Bootsy Collins, and keyboardist Bernie Worrell. "Motor Booty Affair" was an album released in late 1978. The album title refers to the music coming out of the 'Motor City' Detroit in the 70's. Motown Records was producing hit after hit and funk bands from Detroit (eg Parliament) were blooming. Artist Overton Loyd prepared the cover of "Motor Booty Affair". The main release consisted of a gatefold album cover featuring a pop-up rendition of the city of Atlantis, with Loyd's artwork on the front and back covers. His illustrations included cartoon portraits of some of the 'characters' mentioned in the songs on the album, including 'Mr. Wiggles'. It also included cardboard cutout figures featuring Loyd's cartoon illustrations of most of the 'characters' mentioned in the songs. There was also a limited-edition picture disc, with Loyd's illustration printed directly on the vinyl LP. "Motor Booty Affair" was Parliament's fifth consecutive gold album (500000 ...

FIP DiaperMan Garry Shider Of Parliament Funkadelic 7.24.53 -6.16.10 Funk In Peace By PiKaHsSo
www.zshare.net Garry Marshall Shider (July 24, 1953 -- June 16, 2010) was an American musician and guitarist. He was musical director of the P-Funk All-Stars for much of their history. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic. Shider was born in Plainfield, New Jersey. At the age of ten and under the guidance of his father Jesse, Garry and his brothers played and sang behind many gospel artists of the time including legends such as Shirley Caesar, The Five Blind Boys, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, and others. As a youth Shider was also a regular customer at the Plainfield barbershop owned by George Clinton, where the future members Parliament would sing doo-wop for customers and counsel local youngsters. Clinton made note of the young Shider's talents on guitar and his ability with gospel singing. By the time he was sixteen, Shider wished to escape the crime and dead-end prospects of Plainfield, so he and his friend Cordell "Boogie" Mosson left for Canada where they formed a funk/rock band called United Soul, or "US". George Clinton was living in Toronto, Ontario at the time and began hearing about United Soul from people in the local music business, and took the band under his wing upon learning that Shider was a member. In 1971, Clinton produced several tracks by United Soul with input from members of Funkadelic. The songs "I Miss My Baby" and "Baby I Owe You Something Good" were released as a one-off ...

Ahh... The Name Is Bootsy, Baby! - Bootsy's Rubber Band (1977)
"Ahh... The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!" is the lead track on the funk album of the same name by 'Bootsy' Collins, recording as Bootsy's Rubber Band, released in 1977. Collins's second album reached number one on Billboard magazine's Top R&B/Soul albums chart, the first P-Funk release to achieve this goal, and is widely considered his best. The album was produced by George Clinton and Collins and arranged by Bootsy and Casper (names Collins uses to refer to his various roles). William Earl 'Bootsy' Collins (born October 26, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American funk bassist, singer, and songwriter. First rising to prominence with James Brown in the late 1960s, and with Parliament-Funkadelic in the '70s, Collins's driving bass guitar and humorous vocals established him as one of the leading names in funk. Collins is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic.
