The Making of Anglo-Saxon England
This lecture presentation illustrates a pattern of the Christianizing efforts between religious authorities and Germanic rulers after the fall of the Roman Empire. It highlights the literary heritage published by monks such as Nennius, the Venerable Bebe or the cleric who penned Beowulf. Additionally, it connects Celtic heroism to the Saxon invasions to legends that would become popular from the time of Homeric Greek tales to the Old English poem Beowulf. In Anglo-Saxon English this tradition continued with the legend of King Arthur (9C AD) and Merlin (11C). In the nineteenth century British writers left us with contemporary stories of talking animals and fantasic places. What comes to mind as this tradition widens reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe along with the stories from Beatrix Potter featuring Benjamin Bunny and his friends. By the twentieth century, authors have contributed to this tradition. Ancient Albion was known as a place of wizards, monsters, trolls, and dragons. Contemporary writers have kept us interested--thankfully--for decades. Two stand out: Dr. Tolkien's epic tales of Middle Earth and the Harry Potter stories by JK Rowling. Our fascination with the battle between good and evil is timeless. While this college presentation spends time on literary traditions and tales, it also teaches the pattern of English unification after the arrival of the Vikings and concludes with a biographical snippet of Alfred the Great.

Angus I - The First Warrior
This is Angus MacLachlan, the first warrior and founder of the MacLachlan clan who takes, from the moments of total emotional and physical exhaustion, true lessons on how to learn and to live, to survive and to fight. His personality, however, is shaped not only through adversity and suffering, but also through directions from grand masters, like Nennius, a significant character that completely alters Angus' vision of the world. Born in 849 AD, child of a Celtic mother with Pictish blood and a Viking father, Angus was surrounded by two cultural, religious and moral formations, one of which overshadows the other due to one noble ideal: to preserve Christianity in Great Britain, before it is completely annihilated by Nordic commanders led by the cruel Ivar, the Boneless, his father's assassin. Seawulf Ice-Blood, Angus's father, was a true warrior who fought with justice and set an example of bravery. Later on the saga, he will play a crucial part in mankind's destiny along with other allies. Buy the Book: www.lulu.com

A Song of Taliesin - The Picts
Part of "Song of Taliesin" soundtrack - the Pictish culture. The Song of Taliesin is historical modification for game Mount & Blade set in 580 AD. This mod seeks to replicate the brutality, danger, and general atmosphere of the Dark Ages, an early period of Medieval. We are trying to make as historicaly accurate, as we can, to make an excellent springboard from many mods, which are not always accurate. Note that a lot of stuff in this period is strongly hypothetical - text sources tend to be very scant for these times. However archeology give us a lot of information, so it's our main source telling us, what happened after Romans withdrew from Britain. You can observe progress here: forums.taleworlds.net

COMET DYNAMICS AND DANGERS by Alan Hassell
In the past Comets have collided with Earth and have caused a great deal of damage including causing extinction of Dinosaurs. Imagine a mobile unstoppable atomic blast travelling at high speed across the Atlanic Ocean. Imagine the devastation and destruction it would cause once it met land again. The Ancients were trying to tell us something look what has just happened in Japan. History repeats itself.

Lord of the Rings is based in Scotland
Ironic but true, Dryden tower is built in a place that was called Paradise in the 18th century just above where the cloning laboratory at Rosslyn now sits. From the apocryphal Book of Enoch, the Enochian fable goes that Atlantis a powerful and magical hitek Empire of which Scotland was a geographical part was once a paradise but pursued fallen arts such as cloning dark hybrids and chimeras then fell into desolation and was then punished by Gods anger. Atlantis became a dry and desolate den of beasts practising fallen arts. Ironically enough the Cloning research labs of mankind are situated also in or near a place that was historically known as 'Paradise'. The only obvious evidence of the old name of Paradise at Rosslyn is that the old placename is preserved in 'paradykes avenue' adjacent to the tower at Loanhead. .. check out the Tolkeinesque Dark tower architectural folly or monument just above the cloning labs. By co-incidence or irony or some dark humour that seems to suggest that our earth was once a paradise and now a dry and barren den with a dark tower - sounds like Lord of the Rings to me !! :) What is JRR Tolkein saying about central Scotland ? In the Lord of the Rings - Aragorn from the Dunedain = name for Edinburgh, Orcs were a Pictish tribe from Fife, Stone of Destiny stone of Erek= black stone of Erec at the paths of the dead, real King Loth of the Lothians = Lothlorien, goblin halls are in Gifford - stewards of gondor = Stewarts/stewards of Scotland. is ...
