BSkyB: "Zeebox allows us to bring a lot of the content we are making to more users"
Partnering with social TV app Zeebox has enabled UK broadcaster to BSkyB to deliver more content to more users, and allows viewers to participate in a main broadcast in real-time, according to Aidan Conway, Head of Digital Entertainment at BSkyB. "For shows like Got to Dance, Shiny Floor Show, X Factor for Dance, we have built a social wall by aggregating all of the social streams into Zeebox and then displaying those in the live show," he told us at the recent IP&TV; World Forum 2012 event in London. "So within 30 seconds of your tweet on a particular act hitting the Zeebox interface, it could appear on a huge wall behind Davina McCall, so that a million people can see that."

Murdoch BSKYB bid dropped under mounting pressure
www.nma.tv Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has dropped his bid to take full control of BSKYB after coming under mounting pressure over the hacking of cell phone voicemails. UK tabloid journalism is a cesspool. Page 3 girls and checkbook journalism are an integral part of business, especially at Rupert Murdoch's papers. So was phone hacking. Nobody cared when it was the royal family and celebrities. Until news emerged that Murdoch tabloid NOTW had hacked the voicemails of a murdered child and Iraq war widows. Previously, NOTW had been able to keep things quiet by subverting police investigations and paying off victims, who are now thought to number at least 4000. But the new revelations caused advertisers to flee. To contain the meltdown, Murdoch killed NOTW. The fallout is spreading, implicating others in Murdoch's empire and weakening his hold over British politicians. Just as he was poised to complete his dominance of UK media by taking over its largest pay-TV broadcaster. A plan that has now been shelved indefinitely.

FMQs - Johann Lamont makes mischief over Murdoch - in denial over BSkyB jobs
The First Minister spoke of fears that thousands of Scottish jobs would be lost because of BSkyB's consolidation of contractors from nine down to two. BSKyB: One of Scotland's largest employers with 6400 jobs at three sites. BSkyB call-centre contractor HEROtsc provides 900 jobs in Scotland. Johann Lamont and Scottish Labour have consistently failed to welcome all announcements of new jobs for Scotland week after week, month after month, year after year, whilst railing weekly at FMQs against unemployment. They have no realistic, positive programmes or policies for tackling unemployment in Scotland. UK Labour are in major part responsible for their mismanagement of the economy when in power. They are mired in bitter negativism while the First Minister acts decisively to protect Scottish jobs.

Cable Speaks To the BBC on Murdoch's BskyB Withdrawal - NOTW Phone Hacking *NEW*
Business Secretary Vince Cable: "I don't want to personalise this...But I'm pleased I was able to refer it" Click the link below to SUBSCRIBE to the 'News of the World Phone Hacking' YouTube channel @ www.youtube.com For upto date news on the hacking scandal, follow me on Twitter @ twitter.com As News Corporation confirmed it was withdrawing its bid for BSkyB following the phone hacking scandal, Business Secretary Vince Cable said it would be "very difficult" to imagine the BSkyB bid being resurrected at a later date. Mr Cable, who was secretly recorded last year saying he had "declared war" on Rupert Murdoch, had been in charge of overseeing the bid, but was replaced by Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt. Personally, I am thrilled for Vince Cable today after his full on character assassination some months ago after letting it slip he that he had "declared war on Mr Murdoch." Mr Cable understood the dangers Rupert Murdoch posed & I'm sure, Mr Cable will be one relieved cookie tonight after seeing the deal collapse. Thank you BBC. Wednesday 13th July 2011

The Commons was sitting for an extra day after the Prime Minister delayed MPs' summer recess so the fallout of the phone hacking controversy could be discussed, but time after time, Cameron refused to answer or dodged answering the questions that put to him. * These BSkyB meeting is something people are going to hear a lot more about in the coming days. Jeremy Hunt Will Not Rush Decision on BSkyB Takeover - NOTW Phone Hacking
Conservative peer Baroness Rawlings has said Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt will not 'rush' his decision on the BSkyB takeover. Click the link below to SUBSCRIBE to the 'News of the World Phone Hacking' YouTube channel @ www.youtube.com For upto date news on the hacking scandal, follow me on Twitter @ twitter.com But the government refused to 'bow to pressure' to suspend consideration of a bid by the News of the World's parent company to take over broadcaster BSkyB. Asking an urgent question in the Lords, shadow Lords leader Baroness Royal warned that refusing to do so would be seen as "incomprehensible both by the public and by News Corporation's advertisers and investors". But Baroness Rawlings, speaking on behalf of the government, said Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt was confined to considering issues of media plurality when making his decision.
