1949年，中華人民共和國成立。
多少人以為：這是百多年來愛國志士的犧牲換來的成果，
中華民族從此走上民主、自由、繁榮、富強的康莊大道。
有誰料到，從那時起，政治鬥爭運動連綿不絕，
接二連三經濟錯失，人禍橫流，赤地千里。
中華民族的苦難，更為深重。
人民經歷三反五反、鎮反肅反、鳴放、反右運動、
大饑荒、文化大革命、四五天安門事件，
及後毛澤東逝世，四人幫垮台，文革結束，
民間出現《北京之春》民刊運動。
其後鄧小平復出，提出改革開放政策。
豈料，中共只是在經濟上實行改革開放，
政治上卻仍舊堅持獨裁專制。
開放改革帶來貪污腐敗、
道德墮落、貧富懸殊、民怨沸騰，
終於爆發「八六學潮」以及八九年由胡耀邦逝世引發的愛國民主運動，
提出反腐敗、反官倒的要求，
但最後演變成人民被屠殺的「六四」悲劇。
「六四」屠殺後，江澤民上台，
經濟改革停頓，
直至鄧小平92年南巡，重新推動經濟改革。
但只是發展經濟，
沒有開放黨禁及推行體制的民主改革，
加劇了貪污腐敗、貧富懸殊等社會問題。
過去二十年，民間聲音此伏彼起，
又隨著社會問題愈來愈嚴重，
出現血煤、非法徵地、太石村事件、《南方都市報》案、
《冰點》事件、食品安全、四川豆腐渣工程和《零八憲章》等，
維權運動如雨後春筍的蓬勃發展。
但維護人民權益的人士和律師，屢遭打壓。
就讓我們回顧中共建政至今，
中國人民的血淚史和民間抗爭情況。

The second (and earliest surviving) cinematic adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel. Though it suffers from some heavy handed morality, It is worth seeing for the performances and the nice (if sometimes historically inaccurate) production design.

Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011)
Christopher Eric Hitchens was an English author and journalist whose books, essays, and journalistic career spanned more than four decades. He was a columnist and literary critic at The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, Slate, World Affairs, The Nation, Free Inquiry, and became a media fellow at the Hoover Institution in September 2008. He was a staple of talk shows and lecture circuits and in 2005 was voted the world's fifth top public intellectual in a Prospect/Foreign Policy poll. He was a champion for atheism, skepticism, science, history and common sense. He will be sorely missed.
