Santa Paula is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. Situated amidst the orchards of the fertile Santa Clara River Valley, the city advertises itself to tourists as the "Citrus Capital of the World." Santa Paula was one of the early centers of California's petroleum industry. The Union Oil Company Building, the founding headquarters of the Union Oil Company of California in 1890, now houses the California Oil Museum. The population was 29,321 at the 2010 census, up from 28,598 at the 2000 census.
The area of what today is Santa Paula was originally inhabited by the Chumash, a Native American people. In 1769, the Spanish Portola expedition, first Europeans to see inland areas of California, came down the Santa Clara River Valley from the previous night's encampment near Fillmore and camped in the vicinity of Santa Paula on August 12, near one of the creeks coming into the valley from the north (probably Santa Paula Creek). Fray Juan Crespi, a Franciscan missionary travelling with the expedition, had previously named the valley Cañada de Santa Clara. He noted that the party traveled about 9 to 10 miles (14 to 16 km) that day and camped near a large native village, which he named San Pedro Amoliano. The site of the expedition's arrival has been designated California Historical Landmark No. 727.
Paula or PAULA may refer to:
Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Santy, or simply Santa is a mythical figure with historical origins who, in many Western cultures, brings gifts to the homes of well-behaved, "good" children on Christmas Eve (24 December) and the early morning hours of Christmas Day (25 December). The modern Santa Claus is derived from the British figure of Father Christmas, the Dutch figure of Sinterklaas, and Saint Nicholas, the historical Greek bishop and gift-giver of Myra. During the Christianization of Germanic Europe, this figure may also have absorbed elements of the god Odin, who was associated with the Germanic pagan midwinter event of Yule and led the Wild Hunt, a ghostly procession through the sky.
Santa Claus is generally depicted as a portly, joyous, white-bearded man—sometimes with spectacles—wearing a red coat with white collar and cuffs, white-cuffed red trousers, and black leather belt and boots and who carries a bag full of gifts for children. Images of him rarely have a beard with no moustache. This image became popular in the United States and Canada in the 19th century due to the significant influence of the 1823 poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas" and of caricaturist and political cartoonist Thomas Nast. This image has been maintained and reinforced through song, radio, television, children's books and films.

Join us on our surveillance hunt of room 307 at the Glen Tavern Inn in Santa Paula , CA and you will get to see that infamous "haunted" closet door that everyone has tried, but failed to capture, open on it's own. Moderate activity still exists at this hotel although the manager claims that it died down considerably after Ghost Adventures did an on site spiritual cleaning during one of their investigations. The activity in room 307 is still present but occurs mostly when the human element is not present.

We spent some time back in 2004 looking for the California Condors. Our trip this time was unsuccessful. They were released into the wild of Santa Paula Creek just north of Ventura. This beautiful area is full of rocky cliffs and clear creeks. We haven't been back since and we would love to check it out again. http://www.internationaltravel.ws http://twitter.com/itravelws

Saturday sweet
Or was it Sunday Blue?
We scattered seeds
And the day grew
Throwing caution to the wind
And danger dances on the land's end
Tripping over air
No one ever really goes there
Dancing on the breeze
No one ever really sees me
Saturday slow
And then Sunday flew
Another night without you
You walked away
And the world shut down
It's hard to dance
When you're not around
Tripping over air
No one ever really goes there
Dancing on the breeze
No one ever really sees me
I wonder if I walked with you
You'd take a few steps too
Or would you walk away from me?
We always disagree
Saturday sweet or was it Sunday Blue
We scattered seeds and the day grew
Throwing caution to the wind
And danger dances on the land's end
Tripping over air
No one ever really goes there
Dancing on the breeze
No one ever really sees me
I wonder if I walked with you
You'd take a few steps too
Or would you walk away from me
We always disagree
The days go by
And I dream of a time
when the poems rhymed
And the night's are so long
