Merstham /ˈmɜːrstəm/ is a largely residential dispersed village in four sections in the borough of Reigate and Banstead in Surrey, England. It is north of Redhill and is contiguous to it. On the opposite side is the intersection of the M25 and M23 motorways, on the edge of the North Downs. Part of the North Downs Way runs along the northern boundary of the village. Merstham has community associations, an early medieval church, a football club and an art gallery.
Old Merstham occupies the north and north-west of the village. There is a small day school by the train station, the Rt Art Gallery, a large pub, a few restaurants and a small number of shops.
The art gallery collection currently (2014) includes original works by Joan Miro and Henry Moore.
To the north-west is Quality Street, some of whose buildings date back several centuries (see the History section below).
The FA Cup is an annual knockout cup competition in English football; first held in 1871–72, it is the oldest association football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after the Football Association, its official name being The Football Association Challenge Cup. For sponsorship reasons, from 2015 through to 2018 it is also known as The Emirates FA Cup. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, known as the FA Women's Cup.
The competition is open to any eligible club down to Level 10 of the English football league system, i.e. all 92 professional clubs (the Premier League and the three levels of the The Football League), as well as several hundred "non-league" teams in Steps 1 to 6 of the National League System. A record 763 clubs competed in 2011–12. The tournament is unseeded, although a system of byes based on league level ensures most competitors enter at progressively later stages. Played over 12 randomly drawn rounds followed by the semi-finals and final, the first six rounds are the Qualifying Competition, followed by six rounds of the Competition Proper, where 32 qualifiers meet professional sides for the first time.
The Isthmian League is a regional men's football league covering London, East and South East England featuring mostly semi-professional clubs. It is sponsored by Ryman, and therefore officially known as the Ryman League. It was founded in 1905 by amateur clubs in the London area. It now consists of 72 teams in three divisions; the Premier Division above its two feeder divisions, Division One North and Division One South. Together with the Southern League and the Northern Premier League, it forms the seventh and eighth levels of the English football league system. It has various regional feeder leagues and the league as a whole is a feeder league mainly to the National League South.

With public sector cuts across Britain, less money is making it into the communities that need it most. Merstham, a commuter village in Surrey is currenley recognised as one of the poorest housing estates in the borough, with a high number of youths not in employment, education or training. But how will the residents react when faced with these facts, and what is being done by council officials to move the area off of the poverty index?
Dorking Wanderers hosted Merstham FC in the semi-final of the Surrey Senior Cup 2017 on Tuesday 21st March. A place in the Final against Woking FC awaited the winner of the match.
Highlights of Dulwich's 4-1 win against Merstham in the Ryman League Premier Division. Having beaten the Moatsiders 5-0 a month ago, it would ultimately prove to be another comfortable night for the Hamlet. As they did in the return fixture Dulwich took an early lead, as Gavin Tomlin swept home a Dumebi Dumaka centre at the back post after 11 minutes. The visitors created all the chances in the opening 45 minutes, as Yannick Makiese produced a fine save to deny Michael Chambers, whilst Dumaka saw a header cleared off the line. However, for the fourth time in five matches, the Hamlet conceded within the first five minutes of the restart, Reece Hall finishing off a fine move by the hosts. Dulwich retook the lead on the hour mark, as a long ball wasn't delat with by Mitchal Gough, allowing To...

Highlights of Dulwich's 5-0 victory over Merstham in the Ryman League Premier Division. The hosts responded to their midweek exit from the FA Trophy with a dominant display against the Moatsiders. Having had a couple of early sighters, Dulwich went ahead after ten minutes, Nathan Green starting and finishing a move for his first goal of 2017. 24 minutes gone and the lead was doubled as Gavin Tomlin was in the right place to poke home from a yard out. Tomlin added a third before the interval, curling a free-kick over the wall and giving the hosts a commanding lead at half-time. Tomlin was bizarrely denied a hat-trick by teammate Dipo Akinyemi's intervention on his goalbound shot, but soon turned provider for Akinyemi to head in his seventh goal in his last four games. The goal of the game w...
The Hamlet saved their goal of the day until the end, with substitute Panutche Camara producing a moment of magic on his league debut. Receiving the ball from Ibra Sekajja, he played it to his left to captain Kenny Beaney, who instinctively released Nathan Green with his first touch. Green played in Camara at the edge of the penalty area, who produced an exquisite turn around his marker and placed his shot into the far corner. Dulwich Hamlet 5-0 Merstham.

The River Wandle is a river in south-east England. The names of the river and of Wandsworth are thought to have derived from the Old English "Wendlesworth" meaning "Wendle's Settlement". The river runs through southwest London and is about 9 miles (14 km) long. It passes through the London Boroughs of Croydon, Sutton, Merton, and Wandsworth to join the River Thames on the Tideway at Wandsworth. Much of the River is accessible using the Wandle Trail. Rain falls on the North Downs, filters through the chalk and emerges on the spring line. At the top of the catchment the river is mostly culverted. The river is first visible at Wandle Park in Croydon where it flows in an open channel before returning to a culverted section between the New South Quarter development and Waddon Ponds beside Mill ...
