North Carolina (i/ˌnɔːrθ kærəˈlaɪnə/) is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. The state borders South Carolina and Georgia to the south, Tennessee to the west, Virginia to the north, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. North Carolina is the 28th most extensive and the 9th most populous of the 50 United States. North Carolina is known as the Tar Heel State and the Old North State.
North Carolina is composed of 100 counties. Its two largest metropolitan areas are among the top ten fastest-growing in the country: its capital, Raleigh, and its largest city, Charlotte. In the past five decades, North Carolina's economy has undergone a transition from reliance upon tobacco, textiles, and furniture-making to a more diversified economy with engineering, energy, biotechnology, and finance sectors.
North Carolina has a wide range of elevations, from sea level on the coast to 6,684 feet (2,037 m) at Mount Mitchell, the highest point in North America east of the Mississippi River. The climate of the coastal plains is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the state falls in the humid subtropical climate zone. More than 300 miles (500 km) from the coast, the western, mountainous part of the state has a subtropical highland climate.
The University of North Carolina is a multi-campus public university system composed of all 16 of North Carolina's public universities, as well as the NC School of Science and Mathematics, the nation's first public residential high school for gifted students. Commonly referred to as the University of North Carolina system or the UNC system to differentiate it from the original campus in Chapel Hill, the university has a total enrollment of over 183,000 students and confers over 75% of all baccalaureate degrees in North Carolina in 2008. UNC campuses conferred 43,686 degrees for 2008–2009, the bulk of which were Bachelor's level with 31,055 degrees awarded.
Founded in 1789, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the oldest public university in the United States. In 1877, the State of North Carolina began sponsoring additional higher education institutions. Over time the state added a women's college (now known as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro), a land-grant university (North Carolina State University), five historically black institutions (North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University, Winston-Salem State University, Fayetteville State University, and Elizabeth City State University) and one to educate American Indians (the University of North Carolina at Pembroke). Others were created to prepare teachers for public education and to instruct performing artists.
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, also known as UNC Charlotte, UNCC, or Charlotte, is a public research university located in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. UNC Charlotte offers 21 doctoral, 64 master's, and 90 bachelor's degree programs through nine colleges: the College of Arts + Architecture, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the Belk College of Business, the College of Computing and Informatics, the College of Education, the William States Lee College of Engineering, the College of Health and Human Services, the Honors College, and the University College.
UNC Charlotte has three campuses: Charlotte Research Institute Campus, Center City Campus, and the main campus, located in University City. The main campus sits on 1,000 wooded acres with approximately 85 buildings about 8 miles (13 km) from Uptown Charlotte.
The university is the largest institution of higher education in the Charlotte region, which is the second largest banking center in the United States.
Richard Dorian "Dickie" Goodman (April 19, 1934 – November 6, 1989) was an American music and record producer born in Brooklyn, New York. He is best known for inventing and using the technique of the "break-in", an early precursor to sampling, that used brief clips of popular records and songs to "answer" comedic questions posed by voice actors on his novelty records. He also wrote and produced some original material, most often heard on the B-side of his break-in records.
In June 1956, Goodman created his first record, "The Flying Saucer Parts 1 & II", which he co-wrote with his partner Bill Buchanan, and featured a four-minute rewriting of Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds radio show. This recording was the subject of a copyright infringement case against Goodman. The court eventually ruled his sampled mix was considered a parody, and was an entirely new work. "The Flying Saucer" was officially released under the artist name "Buchanan and Goodman" and was Goodman's highest-charting single on Billboard, peaking at #3. Buchanan and Goodman followed up with four other records: "Buchanan and Goodman on Trial" (#80 in 1956), "Flying Saucer The 2nd" (#18 in 1957), "The Creature (From A Science Fiction Movie)" (as by Buchanan and Ancell) (#85 in 1957), and "Santa and the Satellite (Parts I & II)" (#32 in 1957).
From its noble roots in service to returning veterans of World War II, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has grown exponentially, driven by a Big Idea. . .to provide access to opportunity and the intellectual capital that have helped to build one of America’s most vibrant regions.

http://www.gobeyondthebrochure.com/5-Things-to-Avoid-at-UNC-Charlotte/ - No matter where you are in the world, you can always find something that you don’t necessarily enjoy. Colleges and universities are no exception. They lure you in with talks of great knowledge and beautiful facilities, but what they don’t tell you are those things you should worry about. There are many great things that come with UNCC, but with that you will have some things to avoid. Charlotte is known to many people as the melting pot of the south and UNCC is guilty by association. A great portion of students commute to campus and this makes for heavy traffic when classes are over, especially around 5 o’clock.
http://www.gobeyondthebrochure.com/UNC-Charlotte-What-To-Know/ - College is the beginning of a lot of young adult lives. When deciding which college you’re going to, don’t be afraid to ask any question that you want to know. Think about it; you’re going to be here for the next four years. You wouldn’t buy a house before you knew everything you wanted, right? There will be no surprises to you if you treat your campus visit to UNC Charlotte the same way. That in mind, I’m going to give you a list of five things to look for on your next visit. During your campus tour, it would be a good idea to figure out the building where you will stay and how far it is from classes. You can tour the entire campus. There are some dorms that are closer to the classrooms on campus and some are a fifteen-minut...

http://www.gobeyondthebrochure.com/UNC-Charlotte-Desirables-5-Things-You-Must-Do-at-Campus/ - In 2012, UNC Charlotte was on the top 40 list of “On the Rise Universities.” I have seen many changes since I first arrived in 2008. The school is constantly building and there are twice as many things to do now than seven years ago. There are some things you just can’t miss out on if you ever attend or visit the campus. Playing intramural sports at UNC Charlotte was one of the most fun things I did at the School. There are intramural seasons for most sports people enjoy, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, flag football and many more.

Re-Membering Our Prodigals Rev. Mike Lamson May 6, 2012 Thank you. Wow, what a warm welcome. It’s an amazing feeling to be up here and see this. When I was asked to give the sermon by our senior pastor, I realized as I thought about it that this will be the fifth sermon I’ve ever given in my life. Can you imagine? I’ve always been the kind of person who looks for the talents that people have, and I want to support other people in bringing out those talents. So it was quite a shock for me when I realized I’m going to be the one up at this podium this time. Good morning and welcome to Lovin’Life Ministries at the beautiful Manhattan Center in New York City. I must say that things look a lot different from up here. I think all of you should try this sometime. I want to thank everyone from...

"Ask any two sailors what they like most about traveling the Intracoastal Waterway and you’re unlikely to get much, if any, agreement. We can all gripe agreeably about the downsides of the Ditch—long turns at the wheel, shoaling, brutal currents, inconsiderate boaters—but rarely, if ever, do you hear the upsides of one of the most fascinating water routes in America.... im a mile and a half off of the tracks
in Raleigh, North Carolina
with my
foot all jammed up from driving
14 hours
and my body cant sit upright
hanging around watching the t.v. on mute
listening to all of my money making peers
yeah and its
hard not to go to that
place in my head
thatll stop me from ever leaving this room
yeah and its all so confusing
because im all worked up
because all my thoughts are tangled into one
panicked line of white noise
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness yeah that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
is just going to
disappear
because ever since I left you
ive got no one to call
ive got nothing to do but sit around and think about
how I could have not hurt you
I am so sick of feeling so sorry for myself you know I
go from I go from insanely happy
to no I dont want to be around anybody else
im not sure if you know exactly how you feel about me
let me tell you how you
feel about me
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness yeah that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
is just going
disappear
so I pretend im connected
I pretend I can feel
I pretend I care about what you think
cause intensity
its never really
been a problem for me
so im sorry if I scared you
I just want to be loved...
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
