Asia vs. the West
For two centuries Asians have largely been bystanders in world history, reacting to surges of Western commerce, thought, and power. Now former United Nations Ambassador Kishore Mahbubani -- whom Foreign Policy magazine ranked as one of the top 100 public intellectuals in the world -- declares that era is over and the West must embrace rather than resist this structural shift.

8/8/2012 -- Earthquake Overview - USA - West Pacific - EU - Asia - South America
It is prudent to ALWAYS have an earthquake plan ready (and practiced) --- just in case a sizable earthquake strikes your area. We are seeing a slight increase over the past few weeks.. after several months of a relative 'quieting off' .. this past weeks multiple 6.0M+ earthquake around the ring of fire, plus the activity on the west coast USA --- also the movement seems to be picking up in north Asia (Ryuku north to Kuril Islands).. Multiple 4.0M and 5.0M along the plate edge north of Australia (New Guinea to Sumatra).. watch for larger movement. South America (chile/argentina near the coast) be aware of the possibility of a larger earthquake in the near term (next 2 weeks).. at least a 6.0M or greater most likely. Europe, be alert of 5.0M activity to the north.. and 6.0M activity to the south over the next two weeks. United States / Canada -- watch the west coast especially.. and the south edge of the north American Craton (colorado, new mexico, texas, oklahoma, arkansas, missouri). East coast -- slight risk for a greater than 4.0M in the next two weeks... watch virginia to south carolina. 2004 Asian Tsunami Hitting Sri Lanka's West Coast
The impatient may skip to 3:22 or 5:14. This was captured by my Dad in Pitipana on the west coast of Sri Lanka (north of the capital Colombo) at his house (at the time). The clip starts with the coast on a normal day (shot later, for reference), shows the 2nd wave arriving at the end of the garden overlooking the beach, and finishes with the damage aftermath in the local harbor. The panicked man at 5:49 is the caretaker, Alosius! Shot by my Dad on a Sony MicroMV cam and hastily chopped by me using the accompanying edit software, with some initial commentary by Dad in Sinhala.

Benjamin Fulford January 21 2013 - Are Western powers trying to start war in Asia
It is hard for many of us aware folks to realize that many people still believe Zionist newspaper accounts that label "Al CIAda" as an Islamic movement. These days though, even the brain-washed slaves getting their information from so-called newspapers like the Jew York Times must be suffering from cognitive dissonance as they read the West is supporting Al CIAda in Syria and Libya but fighting against them in Mali and Algeria.

Iran - Asian Volleyball Champion |تیم ملی والیبال ایران قهرمان آسیا شد
www.facebook.com Iran volleyball team crowned Asian men's champions TEHRAN, Sept. 29 (MNA) -- Iran claimed the Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship title following an outstanding come-from-behind victory 3-1 (22-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-16) against China on Thursday. Iran has never won the gold medal since the west Asian team made its debut in 1979 while China has won three titles out of their 15 appearances -- in 1979, 1997 and 1999. Iran booked a ticket to the Men's World Cup, which will be held in Japan from November 20 to December 4, with the top three teams earning berths for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The Iranian team defeated Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Japan, South Korea and China respectively in the competition. Arash Kamalvand from Iran was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the competition. Over the years, only six teams -- Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, Kazakhstan and Iran -- have won the Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship. TURKEY - ISTANBUL,TAKSIM SQUARE
Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye), known officially as the Republic of Turkey ( Türkiye Cumhuriyeti (help·info)), is a Eurasian country that stretches across the Anatolian peninsula in western Asia and Thrace (Rumelia) in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest; Greece to the west; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, Azerbaijan (the exclave of Nakhichevan) and Iran to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. To its southwest lie the Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus; to the west, the Aegean Sea and Archipelago; and to the north, the Black Sea. Separating Anatolia and Thrace are the Sea of Marmara and the Turkish Straits (the Bosporus and the Dardanelles). In Western tradition, these bodies of water taken together have been considered the border between Europe and Asia, thereby making Turkey transcontinental. Due to its location astride two continents, Turkey's culture blends Eastern and Western elements. Geopolitically, it has been a dominant regional power for over seven centuries. Today's Turkey is the successor to the Ottoman Empire. Turkey is a democratic, secular, unitary, constitutional republic whose political system was established in 1923 under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, following the fall of the Ottoman Empire in the aftermath of World War I. Since then, Turkey has become increasingly integrated with the West through membership in organizations such as the Council of Europe, NATO, OECD ...

Zaid Hamid:BrassTacks-Yeh Ghazi Episode12;Alp Arslan+Yusuf Ibn Tashfin Part1
BrassTacks program Yeh Ghazi on Timeline of the Muslim History. In this episode Zaid Hamid discusses two contemprary champions of Islam, Alp Arslan in West Asia/SouthWest Asia & Yusuf Ibn Tashfeen in North Africa. Alp Arslan spread the message of Islam in Georgia, Armenia & Asia Minor. His victory in Battle of Manzikert opened Asia Minor to Turkmen conquest. His admininstrator Nizam-ul-Mulk scripted his name in history through his great skills & helped Alp Arslan's son Malik Shah establishing a powerful setup. Yusuf Ibn Tashfeen established himself in North Africa by conquering Morocco & Algeria. Spain, which just at this time was under attack from the Christian powers of northern Spain led by Alfonso VI of León and Castile. Weakened and divided among themselves, the party kings of Spain were unable to defend themselves from the Christian advance and after the fall of Toledo in 1085 invited Ibn Tashufin to bring the Almoravid armies to their aid. Thus at the end of the 11th century Ibn Tashufin had succeeded in uniting Morocco and Moslem Spain under Berber rule. AMU Tarana Video
Modelled on the University of Cambridge, AMU was among the first institutions of higher learning set up during the British Raj. Originally it was Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College, which was founded by a great Muslim social reformer Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. The University has a campus spread over 467.6 hectares of land. Aligarh Muslim University is a residential academic institution offering more than 280 Courses in traditional and modern branches of Education. Currently the University has almost thirty thousand students, and over two thousand faculty members with over eighty departments of study. It continues to function as a premiere educational institution in India, and draws students from a number of countries, especially countries in Africa, West Asia and South East Asia. Majaz Lakhnawi was a romantic revolutionary poet of who composed the famous anthem (tarana) of Aligarh Muslim University. When Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru visited Aligarh Muslim University, he enquired the students and authorities about their college song or something like it. Having got no concrete answer, he expressed his surprise by saying, "It is very strange that a prestigious university as AMU doesn't have its own college song. " These remarks put a student to unrest and he spent a restless night on this idea. The very next morning, he was ready with a masterpiece which went on to be reckoned as AMU Tarana after being sung at the Strachey Hall for the first time. What a tribute from a disciple to his ...

Kishore Mahbubani: Human Rights in Asia
There was a time when the West could lecture the rest of the world about human rights, but everything changed after Guantanamo, says Mahbubani. The West still remains the gold standard for democracy and human rights, but unless it is honest about torture, it has no right to lecture the rest of the world. This is an excerpt from a Carnegie Council talk on February 28, 2008. For the full video, audio, and transcript, go to www.carnegiecouncil.org
