They will briefly describe their past year's amazing FIRST LEGO League (FLL) season, the rules and scoring of an FLL robotics match, their robot design with an exploded CAD model, the software environment in which they program their robot, and attempt to achieve a perfect score live in front of the audience in less than the 2 minute and 30 second time limit. Google Tech Talk (more info below) September 13, 2011 Presented by FIRST Team Antipodes from Terra Nova High School in Pacifica, CA: Violet Replicon, Emma Filar, Kjersti Chippindale, Elizabeth Bowler. ABSTRACT The Return of Team Antipodes: Team Antipodes met with Google Engineering last year to showcase their experiences within FIRST Lego League (FLL) afterschool robotics. www.youtube.com Since then, they've spent a semester abroad, winning the Tasmanian Championships in FLL and World Championships in Robocup Dance Theatre. They returned to try out the next level of FIRST robotics, FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), winning the Colorado State Championships, and competing in the FTC World Championships in St. Louis. They're here to show you the opportunities they've experienced, their ideas for the future, see how well YOU drive their robot, show off their new teammate here on exchange from Tasmania, urge you to get involved mentoring other kids if you can, and demonstrate their perfected version of that pesky maglev train model.

Google Tech Talk November 30, 2012 Presented by Kjersti Chippindale and Violet Replicon from the FIRST Team Antipodes ABSTRACT Antipodes, a Bay-Area all-girl robotics team, will speak about their experiences designing, building and driving robots in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and how it's transformed their middle and high school experiences. This year their presentation will include an overview of their robot design process, which they have documented and now share with their fellow competitors. After their presentation, the girls will have 3 years of championship robots on display, answer any questions you might have, and let you try your hand at manning the controls. This is Team Antipodes' third Google Tech Talk. Instead of entering the competition this year, they are devoting their time to scale their impact by teaching and mentoring new competitors and recruiting new adult mentors to the program. Somewhere Only We Know (Short Film)
Two women fall in love in 1940s New Zealand and despite the impossibility that governs their lives they make a 'what-the-hell' decision that reconfigures their world.
Starring Camille Keenan, Yvette Reid, Matthew Minto.
This is a film inspired by my grandparents and the story of two women who fall in love. Truly for me, the film has nothing to do with sexuality. It is about a benign encounter, a misunderstanding, a shy revelation that can reconfigure a person’s world. It doesn’t necessarily arrive with any great fanfare. I believe it takes pain to remind us that, somehow, we all belong somewhere.
