Dynamic drainage basins
Landscape evolution model simulation of drainage basins developing under the combined influence of fluvial channel incision and soil creep. The model eventually reaches a static steady-state, but the approach to that steady-state is surprisingly dynamic.

CREE INDIANS OF THE MOOSE DRAINAGE BASIN, NE ONTARIO CANADA CIRCA 1900 -
Cultural Optimality, A Study of the Rise and Decline of the Cree Culture of North Eastern Ontario .A Thesis Submitted to the Department of Canadian Studies of Carleton University In Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements For the Degree of Master of Arts By Donald E . Pugh .May, 1972 . ABSTRACT Although contact between a western civilization and a primitive culture often leads to the disintegration of the latter, the culture of the Swampy Cree of the Moose River drainage basin appears to have reached its optimal period or cultural climax during the fur trade from their contact with European technology . A complementary perception of the resources of the region permitted a symbiotic division of labour by each culture which strengthened and materially benefited the other without a loss in cultural identity . Cultural disintegration for the. Cree only occurred in the twentieth century when the European culture altered its goals and relationship to the land and introduced a cultural clash through encroachment on Cree hunting grounds, the imposition of European laws, and the suppression of native Cree customs and practices

Nickel Plate Mine Discharge McDonald, Pa
On January 25, 2005, DEP and federal Office of Surface Mining officials responded to a breakout of mine water from the former Pittsburgh Coal Company's Nickel Plate Company mine in McDonald, Washington County. More than 10,000 gallons per minute (GPM) of mine drainage was flowing from a point along Liberty Avenue. Borough contractors, searching for a water leak, uncovered the breakout site about 1:30 pm.
DEP staff met with McDonald Borough, Washington County Emergency Management, and federal Office of Surface Mining officials to develop an emergency action plan to handle the rapid flow of water and its potential threat to homes and businesses near the breakout site. At the time of the breakout, a business and a church were taking on water, and one house had been evacuated. DEP Emergency Response, along with members of the McDonald Borough Fire Department and the Washington County Hazardous Materials Team, constructed sand banks along Liberty and North McDonald Streets to channel the mine drainage into a catch basin, which then drained into Robinson Run, a tributary to Chartiers Creek. Two days later, the federal Office of Surface Mining replaced the banks with two diesel pumps and piping to remove the mine water flow from the streets.

3D bird flight from North to South over the Agno drainage basin
Here is presented the 25 mt Digital Elevation Model of the entire Agno Valley located in Vicenza-Veneto-Italy. The DEM is elaborated with an elevation color scale (each step is 60 meters high). The stream network is presented with different light blue and blue lines (with light blue Strahler order #1, with blue Strahler order #6) .The illumination conditions do not change during the birdflight. The highest peak is 1970 meters high above sea level, while the lowest point is at 70 meters above sea level. The birdflight begins from the North area of the Agno drainage basin directed to the South lands.

Holland's Barrier's to the Sea
Holland's Barriers to the Sea- Most of Holland is below sea level, the nation a drainage basin for three major rivers. Its people have fought back against floods since the Middle Ages. But now, they have massive, computer-controlled sea barriers and dams doing the trick.

Amazing Underwater World... Checto River
We take a look at the amazing underwater world on the Checto River in Southern Oregon. The Chetco River is a 56-mile-long (90 km) stream located in the southwestern portion of Oregon. It drains approximately 352 square miles (912 km2) of Curry County. Flowing through a rugged and isolated coastal region, Supporting a large population of salmon and trout, the Chetco's water is of very high quality. The watershed is home to many other species, including several that are endemic to the Siskiyou Mountains area. The northernmost grove of Redwoods—the tallest trees on Earth—grow in the southern region of the Chetco's drainage basin. In total, the river is home to over 200 species of animals, and 97 percent of the watershed is forested.
