The Pleasance

The Pleasance is a street just outside the Old Town of Edinburgh, Scotland, a remnant of the town walls flanking the west side of the street between Drummond Street and the Cowgate. Historically, the street was one of the main routes into Edinburgh from the south, meeting St Mary's Wynd (now St Mary's Street) at St Mary's Wynd Port, one of the gateways of the town walls. The name derives from the Scots plesance, meaning a park or garden. It first appears in 1507 as the name of a nearby house and was later transferred to the street and then the suburb which was part of the regality of the Canongate. The derivation of the name from a nunnery of St Mary of Placentia, often mentioned in histories of Edinburgh, is an invention by William Maitland in his 1753 History of Edinburgh. The street is largely residential, although the University of Edinburgh owns property in the area.

The Pleasance contains a complex of university-owned buildings which, for nine months of the year, operate as one of the four Student Union venues that serve the Edinburgh University Students' Association. The Pleasance complex consists of two main bars: The Pleasance Bar and The Cabaret Bar; the Pleasance theatre (with a capacity of 320); and several rooms that can be booked out for society use. Two LCD tvs and a large projector also ensure that all major sporting events are shown in the main bar. The Pleasance is the only one of the four student unions to hold a public license which means anyone can gain access without having to be a university student or signed in by a member.

Red Dead Redemption Part 75- Water and Honesty
Part 75 of my playthrough of Red Dead Redemption. Stranger Mission #17- Water and Honesty John notices a campsite out on the trail and decides to ask the occupant for a short rest from his travels. He meets a man named Andrew McAllister, who welcomes John to his camp. After a small conversation, McAllister tells John about how he is searching for a rich source of water for drilling. McAllister then explains how he used a dowsing stick, and has found out that there is water underneath Pleasance House and wants to purchase the land. To get it, he needs the deed to the land and offers John a good reward if he goes out and retrieves it. But unfortunately for John, Clyde Evans, the owner of Pleasance House, is not about to just hand it over...

Loved everything about this minsu, despite being fairly far from the attractions in Cingjing. • Green green grassland The place was beaaaautiful!!! Every angle was perfect for a photo because of the abundance of greenery and mountain. The sheeps were adorable!!!! Just something calming about watching them nomming the grass wherever they wobble to. Hahaha we even got to feed them! The London comedy scene is booming with loads of great talent but of course it can be tricky to get tickets and to afford the more expensive ones. So the secret is that all comedians play smaller more intimate gigs which in turn are cheaper. Soho Theatre, Leicester Square Theatre & the Pleasance Theatre all regularly have top UK comedians trying out new material. The best way to hear about these secret comedy gigs is to join each theatres mailing list. Presenter Syrus Lowe also advises that you sign up to the comedians mailing list as well.

• Senlove Minsu
The view from our balcony was amazing! Loved everything about this minsu, despite being fairly far from the attractions in Cingjing.
• Green green grassland
The place was beaaaautiful!!! Every angle was perfect for a photo because of the abundance of greenery and mountain.
The sheeps were adorable!!!! Just something calming about watching them nomming the grass wherever they wobble to. Hahaha we even got to feed them! So fun!
• Carton King
Went to this place via the 487 steps trail which was more manageable than it sounds. The food was alright but the everything-carton theme was fascinating and a fresh idea!
• Little Swiss Garden
We got to feed ducks and gooses while watching them quack with each other hahahaha. The place was beautiful! Really vibrant and pretty with all of the different deco.
Cingjing was my favourite day in Taiwan. I loved everything about it! So peaceful and chill, experiencing a different side of Taiwan, relative to the bustling cities in Taipei. ^_^
