Finally I was able to film another Crosswind video at Düsseldorf. Almost two years after I made the last crosswind video the wind conditions were perfect for lots of crosswind action again. Check out the amazing skills of the pilots. Some of them realy had a hard time trying to land during these stormy conditions. We had wind speeds up to 55kts. I spend 7 hours at the airport and I was able to see 15 go arounds. Not all of them are shown in this video cause most of them already made a go around far before reaching the runway.

Landing
Landing is the last part of a flight, where a flying animal, aircraft, or spacecraft returns to the ground. When the flying object returns to water, the process is called alighting, although it is commonly called "landing," "touchdown" or "splashdown" as well. A normal aircraft flight would include several parts of flight including taxi, takeoff, climb, cruise, descent and landing.
Aircraft
Aircraft usually land at an airport on a firm runway or helicopter landing pad, generally constructed of asphalt concrete, concrete, gravel or grass. Aircraft equipped with pontoons (floatplane) or with a boat hull-shaped fuselage (a flying boat) are able to land on water. Aircraft also sometimes use skis to land on snow or ice.
To land, the airspeed and the rate of descent are reduced such that the object descends at a low enough rate to allow for a gentle touch down. Landing is accomplished by slowing down and descending to the runway. This speed reduction is accomplished by reducing thrust and/or inducing a greater amount of drag using flaps, landing gear or speed brakes. When a fixed-wing aircraft approaches the ground, the pilot will move the control column back to execute a flare or round-out. This increases the angle of attack. Progressive movement of the control column back will allow the aircraft to settle onto the runway at minimum speed, landing on its main wheels first in the case of a tricycle gear aircraft or on all three wheels simultaneously in the case of a conventional landing gear-equipped aircraft, commonly referred to as a "taildragger". This is known as flaring.

Finally I was able to film another Crosswind video at Düsseldorf. Almost two years after I made the last crosswind video the wind conditions were perfect for lots of crosswind action again. Check out the amazing skills of the pilots. Some of them realy had a hard time trying to land during these stormy conditions. We had wind speeds up to 55kts. I spend 7 hours at the airport and I was able to see 15 go arounds. Not all of them are shown in this video cause most of them already made a go around far before reaching the runway.

In the video, the plane can been seen descending and preparing for a landing. During the aircraft's descent, the plane rocked from side to side. As the plane attempted to land, the pilot was forced to pull up quickly because of the large gusts of wind that caused it to sway violently back and forth.

India has accused Pakistan of being behind Sunday’s attack on an army base that killed 18 soldiers in the Indian occupied Kashmir and said it had the right to respond. Pakistan has rejected the allegation and accused India of apportioning blame before the incident had been investigated properly.
On Thursday, traffic on the motorway between Islamabad and Lahore was diverted to an older mountain road during the two-day air force exercise, dubbed High Mark. “They landed on the road in this, yes. That is something they have been doing for years,” PAF spokesperson Commodore Javed Mohammad Ali said. The drill was needed “in case your runways get damaged or they are not available for you,” he added.
The exercise was not ordered in response to recent tensions with India and the timing was a coincidence, he said. “This exercise, High Mark, is not done overnight just like that,” he said, describing it as “a routine training matter”.
“High alert”
Another security official, however, said the military was on high alert in case India decided to retaliate for the Uri attack with cross-border military force.
So far, India’s military response to the Uri attack has been limited to skirmishes near the Line of Control (LoC) separating the countries in Kashmir. The Indian army said on Thursday it had foiled two attempts by militants to infiltrate into Indian held Kashmir on Wednesday night.
India has long accused Pakistan of playing a role in the 27-year-long insurgency against its rule in occupied Kashmir, its only Muslim-majority state. I tried to edit it down as much as possible but it still ended up pretty long, mainly due to including Grasshopper and F9R flights (I didn't feel I could use the word "every" if I didn't). I tried to edit it down as much as possible but it still ended up pretty long, mainly due to including Grasshopper and F9R flights (I didn't feel I could use the word "every" if I didn't). Bilanz: Zweimal Kamera fortgeflogen, aber nichts passiert. Allerdings ist ein Stativ danach unbrauchbar geworden.
