BJP to decide on Gadkari, not us: RSS - NewsX
The three-day RSS national council meet concluded here on Sunday with the Sangh maintaining its distance from the controversy surrounding BJP president Nitin Gadkari. The RSS said it was "up to the BJP to decide" if he would continue as the party chief. RSS general secretary Suresh Joshi parried queries on the Sangh influencing the BJP decision on continuance of Gadkari as the party president. "We are just swayamsevaks. Himachal Pradesh to seal Congress, BJP's fate today - NewsX
Himachal Pradesh goes to polls today. The Assembly elections this time are once again a direct and close contest between the Congress and the BJP. Both parties have had their big leaders campaigning for them. The elections will decide the fate of the current Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and veteran Congressman Virbhadra Singh. If the BJP manages to beat the anti-incumbency factor, it would retain power in the state, a feat that has not been repeated by any government since 1977. For more log on to www.newsx.com

Many BJP leaders regretted Modi's comment against my wife, says Shashi Tharoor
Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor claims that many Bharatiya Janata Party leaders had reached out to him to regret the comment made by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi against his wife Sunanda Pushkar. "A very very large number of BJP people, including some former ministers, reached out to me saying they regretted the deplorable conduct of one of their own," the newly-elected minister told Karan Thapar on Devil's Advocate. Taking potshots at Tharoor and his wife, the BJP leader had on Monday called the latter "a Rs 50 crore girlfriend". "There was a Congress leader who was a minister in Parliament. He was accused of amassing wealth from cricket. He had said in Parliament that he is not connected to the Rs 50 crore that are in the lady's name...Have you ever heard of Rs 50 crore girlfriend?" he had asked addressing a rally.

RSS distances from BJP Pres?
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sanghs (RSS) Executive Council is meeting in Chennai at a time when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari's Purti Group is facing several charges of irregularities and the Income Tax Department has intensified its probe into the funding pattern of Purti Group. The RSS seems to have distanced itself from Gadkari once again. Days after RSS leader Bhaiyaji Joshi said that Gadkari should himself clarify on the charges and if allegations are proven, then law should take its own case.

NDTV Mid-Term Poll 2012: BJP, Vasundhara Raje to make a comeback in Rajasthan?
The Congress seems to be ceding ground - respondents have found Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his governance poor. And though many believe infighting has hurt the BJP, Vasundhara Raje seems set for a comeback. Picked by the BJP and not the RSS. [Fieldwork by Ipsos] Watch full show: www.ndtv.com

BJP has many PM candidates, Modi one of them: Gadkari
Unfazed by the Congress attack over the letter row involving him, BJP President Nitin Gadkari said he will quit politics if there is any proof of his business links with Ajay Sancheti in the irrigation scam. He said he had asked the Centre to release funds for the Gosikhurd project to help the farmers and not for the benefit of any contractor close to him. Gadkari also said that Ajay Sancheti did not get a single contract during his tenure as the Public Works Department (PWD) minister of Maharashtra. "If you have got any evidence about my relations with Ajay Sancheti, business relations or with Sharad Pawar...I am going to challenge Congress party and Digvijaya Singh...let's prove it, I am ready... I will leave the politics," the BJP president said while speaking to CNN-IBN Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai.

At BJP meet, Narendra Modi's advice is go big on campaign against FDI in retail
At a meeting of 300 top BJP leaders, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi intervened in a debate on foreign direct investment in retail today to suggest that the party take the issue to the village level and offered a systematic plan to negate the Congress' "reforms are back" campaign. He suggested that the party hold more than 5000 public meetings across the country to highlight the BJP's objections, 10 in each Lok Sabha constituency. The Gujarat CM also suggested the BJP emphasise to traders and farmers that the Centre's decision to allow big foreign chains like Walmart to set up shop would affect them adversely.

BJP trashes allegations against Gadkari, says IAC has scored 'self goal'
The BJP on Wednesday trashed the allegations of corruption against party president Nitin Gadkari and termed the IAC's accusations as an "attempt to make a mountain of what is not even a molehill". BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said the IAC had tried to dig for proof against Gadkari but found nothing. BJP leader Arun Jaitley said the party "dismisses" the allegations and hit out against the IAC's attempts to "bring a moral equivalence between the Congress and BJP".
