Monumental - National Monument to the Forefathers
In his movie "Monumental," Kirk Cameron walked around this National Monument to the Forefathers with Dr. Marshall Foster of World History Institute and discussed the Christ-centered, Bible-based heritage of our pilgrim forefathers, who settled in Plymouth and established one nation under God. Returning to right relationship with God through Jesus Christ is the only hope for the people of the United States and for the world. Marcus, Maria, Josh, and Stephen visited the monument on March 31, 2012. Calf Creek Falls with the folding Firebox stove in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument
foldingfirebox.com Here we use the Folding Firebox camp stove while camping at the Lower Calf Creek Falls campground in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. What a beautiful place to spend time with friends and family. The creek runs past most of the sites and has a stone bottom making it perfect for the kids to play in providing hours of entertainment as well as a cool retreat from the heat. The stream is also full of trout giving the anglers in your group some great fishing action. If your up to a three mile hike you can experience the water fall, WOW, very worth the effort. I used the folding Firebox to cook all of our meals using both gathered fuels as well as wood pellets as fuel. We also enjoyed the warmth of the Firebox as a portable campfire during the evenings hours and the cool mornings while we waited for the sun to reach us in the canyon bottom. Thank you for watching!

Kirk Cameron of Monumental and Marshall Foster explain National Monument Part 1 of 5
Kirk Cameron, director and star of Monumental, the Movie, happened to be at the actual monument which was featured in his film, together with Marshall Foster, the historian and writer behind the movie. Kirk gave us a personal tour of the entire monument, and together with Marshall, they explain the basic tenants upon which this country was founded and the "formula" that will preserve our liberty and freedom from tyranny for years to come. These tenants are found within this monument that was erected by the Pilgrim Society. This is the largest National Monument - but I will bet most of you have never heard of it or seen it. Our country's leadership might rather you had never seen this. But I encourage you to see and hear the truth about how this country came about and the principles upon which it is founded. We ten encourage you to make this country stronger by going on a short term missions experience in America through Epic Missions. www.epicmissions.org

Muir Woods National Monument Tour
A 2-minute highlight from our trip to Muir Woods National Monument. Muir Woods is part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area on California's rugged Northern Coast within an hour of San Francisco. Home to California's coastal redwoods, the tallest trees on the planet, this sanctuary of old growth redwoods was set aside by President Theodore Roosevelt 100 years ago. "This is the best tree-lovers monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world," declared conservationist John Muir when describing the majestic coast redwoods of Muir Woods. Muir Woods is also home to Banana Slugs, North Americas largest land mollusk. Muir Woods is explored in Finley-Holiday Films' "California Parks & Monuments DVD" as is available on location at Muir Woods National Monument and from www.finleyholiday.com.

Travel Guide New Mexico Bandelier National Monument Los Alamos New Mexico
Bandelier's human history extends back for over 10000 years when nomadic hunter-gatherers followed migrating wildlife across the mesas and canyons. By 1150 CE Ancestral Pueblo people began to build more permanent settlements. Reminders of these past times are still evident in the park as are the strong ties of the modern Pueblo people. By 1550 the Ancestral Pueblo people had moved from their homes here to pueblos along the Rio Grande (Cochiti, San Felipe, San Ildefonso, Santa Clara, Santo Domingo). In the mid-1700's Spanish settlers with Spanish land grants made their homes in Frijoles Canyon. In 1880 Jose Montoya of Cochiti Pueblo brought Adolph FA Bandelier to Frijoles Canyon. Montoya offered to show Bandelier his people's ancestral homelands. In 1916 legislation to create Bandelier National Monument was signed by President Woodrow Wilson. In 1925 Evelyn Frey and her husband, George, arrived to take over the Ranch of the 10 Elders that had been built by Judge Abbott in 1907. Between 1934 and 1941 workers from the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) worked from a camp constructed in Frijoles Canyon. Among their accomplishments is the road into Frijoles Canyon, the current visitor center, a new lodge, and miles of trails. For several years during World War II the park was closed to the public and the Bandelier lodge was used to house Manhattan Project scientists and military personnel.

African Burial Ground National Monument Virtual Tour
As profiled in Ken Burnss new PBS documentary, THE NATIONAL PARKS: AMERICAS BEST IDEA, the threats facing Americas national parks decades ago are many of the same threats they face today, including chronic funding shortfalls, air and water pollution, demands for inappropriate uses of parkland and the trade-offs between increased access and damage to the natural or cultural treasures they preserve. During National Parks Week NYC, National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) and its supporters aim to raise awareness of the challenges to our national parks -- and the opportunity for each of us to help protect them for our children and grandchildren. Carmichael Photography (www.bobcarmichael.com) generously produced this virtual tour of four of the national park sites throughout New York City, which we've dubbed "Hidden Treasures." The videos highlight the individuals who help protect these sites, some of the challenges to these parks, and most importantly -- the history and compelling stories of each of them. We hope you'll be inspired to visit and enjoy. For more on NPCA visit http For more on National Parks Week NYC visit www.feelfree.org

Super Cali - Part One: San Francisco & Muir Woods!
twitter.com facebook.com twitter.com I recently got the chance to spend a couple days in the San Francisco/Napa Valley area of California with a few friends of mine. This video chronicles part one of our trip where my friend Whitney and I drive over the Golden Gate Bridge and make our way to the Muir Woods National Monument where we take a hike to the top of the Ocean View trail! Pretty spectacular stuff, if you ask me! Enjoy! Comment Questions: Have you read the Hunger Games? And is Whitney "granola-y"??
