NASA TV Capture of MSL Curiosity Rover Landing on Mars
This is a screen capture of the 6 minutes before and after the NASA MSL Curiosity rover landed on Mars. The entire mission control room bursts into cheers around time 5:30 upon confirmation of landing and the first images from Mars arrive around time 7:30. Alongside the NASA TV stream, I'm running the Eyes on the Solar System computer simulation (eyes.jpl.nasa.gov which was using live telemetry data from the spacecraft to show what was happening in near real-time. All of this was captured on my laptop in Australia using the ScreenFlow app, streaming the event over the 3G connection from my iPhone. See more updates and images from NASA's MSL homepage: www.nasa.gov In 1970, a NASA scientist wrote to a nun working with starving kids in Africa and defended costly space exploration. If you think spending money on space is a waste, read this: bit.ly If you see a derogatory comment below, please vote it down so that it gets removed.

The Curiosity Rover Landing
Landing will take place the night of August 5th, 1:30 AM eastern, 10:30 pm pacific, and 6:30 AM GMT (August 6th.) NASA will be streaming live here: www.nasa.gov And we'll be live-tweeting here: www.twitter.com The Mars Science Laboratory or Curiosity Rover is the largest payload ever delivered to the surface of a planet and it has a terrifyingly complicated descent and landing strategy. First, the atmosphere takes it from 13000 mph to 2000 mph. Then a parachute takes it down to 200 mph. The final, powered-descent stage lowers the craft to 21 feet above the surface, at which point it will be lowered by a tether and the rockets will detach and crash land elsewhere. If the Curiosity survives it's descent to Mars, it will be the most robust scientific tool to ever explore another planet. The size of a small car, the craft has a planned mission length of two years, during which time it could travel over 12 miles. Curiosity's goals are to study the geology and climate of Mars, to determine whether there was once life there, and to prepare for future human exploration of the Red Planet.

The Mast Brothers
The life of a mariner is one given over to wanderlust—the quest for adventure, crossing unseen horizons to secure precious goods—only to bring them back to their home port. This same love of adventure and curiosity defines the brotherhood of Rick and Michael Mast. They share a fiercely independent spirit, leaping into the unknown and trusting that they’ll find the answer through endurance and dedication to their craft.
They began their voyage in their apartment, using a homemade machine to process cacao beans. Over time they cultivated their creation, sourcing beans from family farms in Madagascar, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador. Each bar is handmade with incredible reverence for the process and history of chocolate. They are bound in ornamental papers and golden foil like a collection of rare books. Each bar offers its own story of flavors, and no two are exactly alike.
The Mast Brothers are now planning to navigate the mighty Atlantic, sailing to the Dominican Republic in search of beans and a deeper connection with the folks who grow them. Before they begin the next chapter, The Scout spent time with Rick and Michael documenting their story.

BIKES - Crashing into love
A metaphorical short film about bikes, movement, freedom and love. Every day mind tries to get the better of heart. Space and time have always existed and we can’t stop them. Throught the movement we discover ourself. Speed is like curiosity. A crash between two bodies. To remember us that we are not alone.
The video has been realised between Montréal and London. It combines 2d and 3d motion graphics and video footages.
Main tools: Adobe AI, PS, AE; Apple FCP; Maxon C4D; Sony Ex1-Cam.

Moviebox is a show from Megapix channel dedicated to movie news, which delivers interviews with stars and behind the scenes curiosities. For its new identity, playing with the handmade crafts graphic feel, we have simulated a small studio scenario where tiny narratives develop around good old movies clichés, representing a variety of film genres. The box always takes central place in the scenes, and besides being the channel’s symbol, works as a starting point for the construction of the Moviebox logo as well as the structure for the graphics inside the show. The final outcome is a strong identity that engages the audience in an amusing, playful way.

Mars Rover Curiosity Lands, and NASA Becomes Global Capital of High-Fives
Watch: youtube.com slatev.com Follow twitter.com facebook.com A graceful leap, calculated tumble, and, finally, sticking the landing: It all happened far away from the London Olympics, on Earth's red neighbor, Mars. NASA's Curiosity Rover survived its perilous seven-minute descent into the Gale Crater last night, allowing engineers to exhale explosively and give each other high-fives all around. The $2.5 billion, one-ton, six-wheeled nuclear-powered mobile science laboratory quickly beamed back three images from the Martian surface to the landing team at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory near Los Angeles soon after touching down. The team erupted into cheers after seeing the images, and President Obama hailed the landing as "an unprecedented feat of technology that will stand as a point of national pride far into the future." Curiosity, which is twice as large and five times heavier than twin rovers Spirit and Opportunity, will look for evidence that Mars may have once hosted the basic building blocks necessary for microbial life to evolve. But for now, we can just give her high scores for not blowing up.

Dare Mighty Things: Curiosity on Mars
The Mars Science Laboratory, Curiosity, sets down on Mars -- a collection of various NASA animation, telemetry data, onboard vehicle instrumentation, incident audio, and JPL footage, set to music and embellished with narration from those NASA/JPL leaders most responsible for transforming one of the most complex engineering feats the agency has ever attempted into one of its proudest, finest hours. I was at JPL on this night, and I was compelled to produce something that approximated my experiences. Closing narration includes NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, John Holdren, Senior Science Advisor to President Obama, Charles Elachi, Director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and Adam Steltzner, MSL Mechanical Systems Lead.
