Visit: eteacherhebrew.com In this lesson, we meet the Hebrew alphabet for the first time. We learn that the Hebrew alphabet has a very long history. In fact, the Western (Latin) alphabet and the Hebrew alphabet have the same origin. In our lessons, we talk about this development and show how it all started from a drawing of a picture that represented a word, which subsequently evolved into all Latin scripts. From here we learn our first 8 letters: ל/מ/נ/ר, and also the gutturals א/ה/ח/ר. Facebook: www.facebook.com

Learn Biblical Hebrew - lesson 6 - Nouns and Adjectives | by eTeacherBiblical.com
Visit: eteacherhebrew.com In hebrew, every noun and adjective has both number (singular or plural) and gender (masculine or feminine). The masculine singular form has no special ending, but every other form has a suffix that marks the word as feminine singular (accentedָה ), masculine plural (ִ ים ), or feminine plural (וֹת). In our lessons, we look for some nouns and adjectives in several verses. One of the most interesting examples we deal with, is the noun: Elohim (God), which takes on the form of a plural noun. Abraham then continued his journey through the region of Aram (Syria), into the land of Canaan; he stopped at Shechem, where God appeared unto Abraham, who consequently built an altar. Learn Biblical Hebrew - lesson 3 - Hebrew Vowels | by eTeacherBiblical.com
Visit: eteacherhebrew.com This lesson is a fascinating journey into the evolvement of the Hebrew vowels. We will learn that in King David's period (10th c. BCE), when Hebrew was first written, the writers only used the consonants. This created difficulties for readers in those days. The solution to the problem was the addition of vowel letters, a process which unfolded in several stages. The last stage took place in one of the most beautiful places in Israel, near the Sea of Galilee. We will also meet our first two vowels: A Facebook: www.facebook.com

The "El" of Ugarit and the Hebrew Bible
Brilliant Article by Damien F. Mackey The "Toledoths" of Genesis: www.specialtyinterests.net "As one discovers from reading Wiseman, tremendous instruction can be gained from studying the pattern of the Divine names used according to the context of each successive Toledoth history. " GOD OF THE UDDER: ANOTHER LOOK AT EL SHADDAI www.keithmassey.com The "breasted god" Stone suggests that Shaddai is derived from the similar word, shad, which the Bible translates, "breast." "Victor P. Hamilton connects the word shad to the blessing of fertility and progeny in this verse (Gen. 49:25).[39] Stone connects the name, Shaddai with shad, and suggests that "Shaddai signifies one who nourishes, supplies and satisfies." www.xenos.org The title "El" is a common name for god: "By the way, the connection of Jacob with El is sometimes asserted on the basis of Jacobís other name, ìIsrael,î where ìElî is the last part of the name. Again, ìElî is a title for god that is often used in other personal names in Israel (such as ìSamuelî) and in neighboring nations. So in the Ammonite collection of personal names more than 150 contain the name ìElî, but most would affirm that the chief god of Ammon was Milkom, and that ìElî was a title of Milkom. One must be very careful about drawing lots of conclusions from a word that can be a title for any god in the West Semitic world." www.reasonablefaith.org Canaanite religion was unlike the faith of the Israelites: "As the myths of ancient Ugarit indicate <b>...</b>

Folk Religion and the Hebrew Bible: Asherah and Deborah
Throughout the Old Testament, many examples of the Israelite's practice of folk religion are scattered throughout the texts. Here, Deborah, a Judge of Israel is reported to give counsel from under a palm tree. The writers of Judges tell us Deborah was also a prophetess. The parallels to the Canaanite deity Asherah are stark; not only is Deborah elevated to the status of prophetess but she is also linked to a tree which is a key component of worship in the cult of Asherah, represented by a wooden pole, the asherah. The blending of these traditions sheds light on the evolution of the Hebrew Bible as well as ancient Israel and the origins of the Judeo-Christian tradition.

A History of Hebrew Part 21: Ancient Translations
A History of Hebrew DVD available through Amazon.Com - www.amazon.com --------------------------- As the Jewish people began to spread out beyond Israel, they adopted the language of their new neighbors. This necessitated the need for translations of the Bible in their new languages in order for them to continue reading the Bible. While there have been many translations of the Hebrew Bible into many different languages, the three most widely used are the Latin, Aramaic and Greek. Of the many Aramaic translations of the Hebrew Bible, there are three principle ones. Targum Onkelos is an Aramaic translation of the first five books of the Bible. It was written in the 1st C CE by Onkelos, a Roman convert to Judaism. Targum Jonathon is an Aramaic translation of the Prophets. It was written in the 1st C BCE by Jonathon Ben Uziel, a student of Hillel the Elder, the famous Jewish teacher and religious leader. The Peshitta is an Aramaic translation of the entire Hebrew Bible that was written around the 2nd C. CE. The Peshitta also includes an Aramaic New Testament that was written around the 5th C. CE. The Septuagint is a Greek translation of the first five books of the Hebrew Bible, the Torah, written by Jewish scholars in the 3rd C. BCE. The remainder of the Hebrew Bible, the writings and the prophets were translated by unknown translators between the 2nd and 1st Centuries BCE. The Latin Vulgate, consisting of the Hebrew Bible as well as the New Testament, was written by Jerome <b>...</b>

A History of Hebrew Part 18: The Original Manuscripts
A History of Hebrew DVD available through Amazon.Com - www.amazon.com --------------------------- This is a segment of a much larger video production that I am working on and am looking for feedback (positive and negative) on the layout and content. ___________________ The original manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible, which would have been written on animals skins or papyrus, have long since deteriorated and what remains today are copies from these original autographs. In the digital age, electronic copies are perfect representations of the original. However, in ancient times, making a copy of a manuscript was much more tedious and not as precise and this allowed for human intervention or error. In a tomb at Ketef Hinnom in Israel, the oldest text of the Hebrew Bible was discovered. The text, inscribed on a silver scroll in the old Hebrew script dating to the 7th C. BCE., is the Aaronic blessing, which begins, "yeverekh'kha YHWH Vayishmarekha" (May YHWH bless you and keep you). Another very old fragment of the Hebrew Bible is the Nash Papyrus, discovered in Egypt in 1898. The fragment includes the Ten Commandments and the Sh'ma and is dated to the 2nd C. BCE. (I am YHWH your God...Exodus 20:2-17 and Hear O Israel...Deuteronomy 5:6-21) Very few ancient texts of the Hebrew Bible have been found and are very rare, that is until 1947 when the discovery of a depository of scrolls in the Dead Sea Caves provided us with a library of ancient manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible <b>...</b>

Some Muslims and Christians as well asked how could Muhammad fit in, in the book of songs giving the fact that this book is sexual in its nature My dear Muslim brothers and sisters and my respected Christian friends the songs of Solomon as is today is formed out of different poems and even different fragments of the same poem which represent a Jewish oral tradition of thousands of years, all put together in what is known today to be the book of songs, This was the viewpoint of many ancient Jewish rabbis, so it is not necessary for the verses describing the prophet Mohammad to be related to some of the text present today in the song of songs. Add to that, according to Islam we believe that every prophet of God sent to the children of Israel has given glad tidings of the prophet Muhammad some of them in details which makes the ancient Jewish oral tradition rich of prophet Muhammads description, we can clearly see <b>...</b>
