Marlin 1895 STP "Trapper" .45-70
The shortest little .45-70 you might ever put your hands on! The barrel is just a little over 16" in length, and it has a full length magazine. Pretty cool! I mistakenly mention in the video that the barrel is 18". I was thinking of legal shotgun barrel length, I suppose, if I was "thinking" at all. :-) The legal length for a rifle barrel is 16".

Mark Hollis | A life (1895-1915)
Mark Hollis Track 5 Uniform Dream cites freedom Avow Relent Such suffering Few certain And here I lay (my lord) ------------------------------------- One source cited for this song is Vera Brittain's "Testament of Youth", the first installment in her autobiography, covering 1913-1925. Said Hollis in a 1998 interview, "That was someone born before the turn of the century and dying within one year of the First World War at a young age. It was based on Vera Brittain's boyfriend. It's the expectation that must have been in existence at the turn of the century, the patriotism that must've existed at the start of the war and the disillusionment that must've come immediately afterwards. It's the very severe mood swings that fascinated me."

Paul Dukas - Symphony in C Major (1895)
Paul Dukas - Symphony in C Major (1895)
Symphony by Paul Dukas. Conducted by Yan Pascal Tortelier with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. I. Allegro Non Troppo Vivace - Ma Con Fuoco - 00:00 II. Andante Espressivo E Sostenuto - 14:47 III. Allegro Spiritoso - 29:44 Paul Abraham Dukas (1 October 1865 -- 17 May 1935) was a French composer, critic, scholar and teacher. A studious man, of retiring personality, he was intensely self-critical, and he abandoned and destroyed many of his compositions. His best known work is the orchestral piece, L'apprenti sorcier (The Sorcerer's Apprentice), the fame of which has eclipsed that of his other surviving works. Among these are an opera Ariane et Barbe-bleue (Ariadne and Bluebeard), a symphony, two substantial works for solo piano, and a ballet, La Péri. The Symphony in C major was composed in 1895--96, when Dukas was in his early 30s. It is dedicated to Paul Vidal, and had its first performance in January 1896, under the direction of the dedicatee. In a study of Dukas published towards the end of the composer's life, Irving Schwerké wrote, "The work ... is an opulent expression of modernism in classical form. Its ideational luxuriance, nobility of utterance and architectural solidity mark it as one of the most conspicuous achievements of contemporaneous writing, and magnificently refute the generally prevalent notion that no French composer has ever produced a great symphony." Like Franck's only symphony, Dukas's is in three movements rather than the conventional four. Schwerké ...

The Execution of Mary Stuart (1895 film)
The Execution of Mary Stuart (1895 film)
The Execution of Mary Stuart is a short film produced in 1895. The film depicts the execution of Mary, Queen of Scots. The film was produced by Thomas Edison and may have been the first film in history to used trained actors, as well as one of the first to use editing for the purposes of special effects. The film shows an uncredited, blindfolded actress (playing Mary) being led to the execution block. The executioner raises his axe and an edit occurs during which the actress is replaced by a mannequin. The mannequin's head is chopped off and the executioner holds it in the air as the film ends.
