Dr Whiting on Stress, Cortisol, and Natural Anti-Depressants
phoenixnutritionals.com (CLICK HERE) Stress has become so commonplace that most of us don't even think about it on a day-to-day basis. Our society encourages more and more stress for greater and greater success but the ravages of prolonged excess stress can change the body chemistry in many ways such as over-producing a hormone called cortisol. Excess cortisol causes many complications in the body over time, one of which is excessive weight gain. Cortisol and weight gain as well as difficulties with weight loss are directly related to excess stress. Stress management can be accomplished in many ways. Meditation, prayer, and other forms of relaxation are often helpful in stress management. The effects of excess stress on the body can be wide ranging. Most existing health challenges are made worse by excess stress. Nutrition can also come to the rescue in helping to physically manage stress. Stress management with nutrition would include the B complex vitamins, especially pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid directly supports the adrenal glands, helping to prevent their exhaustion. Herbal extracts are also helpful and should be including in any stress supplement formula. Here at The Institute, we have developed a stress supplement that has proven to be of great help to many thousands of people. This formula helps control cortisol levels, aiding in weight loss, this formula has also helped many people reduce or eliminate their dependency on various drugs. The effects of stress ...

Stress hormone cortisol can make you fatter
Article: vitatalks.com Stress results in raised levels of the hormone cortisol. This stress hormone helps us during times of emergency, but can cause weight gain when levels are chronically raised. Belly fat cells are many times more responsive to the fat promoting effects of cortisol. So getting stressed can expand your waistline. Elevated cortisol levels interfere with the proper functioning of the blood sugar control hormone insulin. High insulin levels are linked to weight gain, and obesity. Insulin also promotes weight gain around the middle. Cortisol results in appetite changes. Particularly cravings for sweet things and carbohydrates. This further increases weight gain Relaxation and meditation techniques help lower cortisol. Dietary changes that help lower cortisol levels: Blood sugar balance is the single most important factor, disturbed blood sugar causes excess insulin to be pumped out. Removing sugar and refined carbohydrates is a key component of blood sugar balance. Supplements that help reduce cortisol: the blood sugar balance minerals chromium and magnesium. Fish oil also helps balance blood sugar, and can directly reduce cortisol output. Phosphatidylserine directly reduces cortisol output. Ashwagandha increases tolerance to stress, lowers anxiety levels and directly reduces cortisol output.

Cortisol and Weight Gain
Recent studies have revealed that cutting calories to lose weight raises cortisol, a hormone known to interfere with thyroid hormones and insulin, cause leptin resistance, and more. High-protein, low-carbohydrate diets are also thought to consistently raise cortisol levels as well. All of this contributes to weight gain long-term, regardless of short-term apparent success. Diets make you fat.

Oxytocin the Love Hormone vs Cortisol the Stress Hormone
www.cosmic-joy.com 1) Reversing Damage - Years of stressful living caused damage to your body. To help reverse this, Cosmic Joy releases hundreds of phytonutrients that act at the molecular level to soothe your nervous system, restore proper brain function, and prevent mental deterioration. 2) Getting Healthy Sleep - Lack of sleep results in feelings of irritability and body weakening. This is in proportion to how much you allowed your body to rest and heal itself overnight. Sleep deprivation raises risks of inability to concentrate and memory problems. Your sleep quantity and quality has direct relation to changes in the balance of major neurotransmitters in the brain, such as serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, melatonin and others. Relearning good sleep habits accompanied by relaxation techniques comprise a good therapy for depression. Start by going to bed and getting up the same time each day. People who enjoy 7 or more hours of sleep per night are more likely to experience excellent mood the next day. 7 1/2 to 8 1/2 hours of sleep per night is recommended for both children and adults. 3) Increasing Omega-3 Fatty Acids Intake - Omega-3 fatty acids help to facilitate growth and maintenance of your brain cells, especially cell membranes. The human brain is 60 percent fat and its neurotransmitters move more easily through fat membranes composed of Omega-3 fats. Higher omega-3 content ensures optimal neurotransmitter communication. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish also ...

Stress Causes Gray Hair | Essential Oils Negate Cortisol Which Accelerates Aging and Gray Hair
www.tiffanyrowan.com Cortisol is a stress hormone produced by your stress organs the adrenals. When cortisol is in excess, it raises blood sugar levels, increases weight gain, increase depression, decreases bone formation, suppresses the immune system, and speeds the aging process. I have been comforted in my times of stress lately with Young Living products containing Valarian essential oil which keeps cortisol levels from being in excess. I can either take Valarian by capsule, or use it in the RutaVaLa roll on, or Sleep Essence capsules. I have decided to take two Sleep Essence capsules for now on. If it is making my gray hair turn brown again, then I can imagine how helpful it is to my internal organs too. Just googling more about Valarian and Cortisol, I have learned that Valarian helps with toning the skin and in weight loss. What is cortisol? Cortisol is a hormone produced by your adrenal glands. It falls into a category of hormones known as "glucocorticoids", referring to their ability to increase blood glucose levels. Cortisol is the primary glucocorticoid. What does cortisol do? Cortisol is part of the fight or flight response. Faced with a "life or death" situation, cortisol increases the flow of glucose (as well as protein and fat) out of your tissues and into the bloodstream in order to increase energy and physical readiness to handle the stressful situation or threat.
