Valerie Vili recieves Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit
Their age and experiences are far apart, but Olympic and world shotput champion Valerie Vili and Major Hone Waititi, the only surviving company commander of the 28th Maori Battalion, have one thing in common - both brought honour to their country. Yesterday, their country honoured them as they joined business, sport, medical, arts and community leaders at an investiture ceremony in Auckland. Some of the country's top business, sports, medical, arts and community leaders have been honoured at a ceremony in Auckland. The first batch of up to 77 people to receive the country's top honours were recognised at an investiture ceremony at Government House yesterday. Among them were top businessman Tony Gibbs and actress Mabel Wharekawa-Burt. Vili, made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to athletics, said the day had been one of reflection. "When I first got asked [to accept the award], I was just thinking about doing this in the last 10 years - it's been a massive ride." Being honoured alongside some of the country's top people was another reason to celebrate. "It's pretty amazing to be sitting right next to them. I'm very happy, very honoured. It goes to show how much your country appreciates you." Family and friends joined the 18 people honoured at yesterday's ceremony. Governor-General Sir Anand Satyanand paid tribute to each of them, calling for New Zealanders to use their success as an inspiration to do the same. "If we, other New Zealanders, can ...

Hedy Fry: Jean Chrétien and the Order of Merit, October 21, 2009
Dr Hedy Fry Member of Parliament for Vancouver Centre Statement in the House of Commons October 21, 2009 Mr. Speaker, yesterday, at Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II awarded former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien the rare and prestigious Order of Merit, one of Great Britain's highest honours. He is only the fourth Canadian in history accorded this distinction. Other recipients are former Liberal Prime Ministers Mackenzie King and Lester Pearson, Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa. This award is about merit and Jean Chrétien has given outstanding service to the people of Canada, especially to the women of Canada. As Trudeau's justice minister, he gave Canadians the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, enshrining within it gender equality. As a prime minister, he doubled the number of women in his caucus and cabinet; appointed a 50% female Senate; and named the first female chief justice, the first female deputy prime minister and the first female visible minority governor general. He listened to his women's caucus and did not go to Iraq; increased aid to the poorest continent, Africa; negotiated the UN landmines treaty; and fought for gender equality at every international forum

Puskás Hungary (teljes film)
Puskás Hungary (teljes film)
Puskás sztorija önmagában hollywoodi történet: a városszéli nyomortanyáról indulva, a szomszéd kisfiúval együtt a világ tetejére jutva, a polgári kispesti belvárosból menyasszonyt találva őrjöngve rajongott világsztár lesz, aki táviratok százait kapja minden szállodában, ahol csak pár éjszakára megszáll bárhol a világon... Olyan világsztár, aki egész életében - politikától, háborútól, társadalmi konvencióktól függetlenül - mindig csak azt csinálja, amit szeret, s amit a legjobban tud a világon: focizik. Igazi öntörvényű művész, szikrázóan szellemes mókamester, szeretnivaló népi hős, akire ugyanakkor folyamatosan ránehezedik családjának, népének, tragikus sorsa, amelyet a maga módján cipelnie kell. Footballs Greatest - Franz Beckenbauer [Bayern Munich & Germany]
Footballs Greatest - Franz Beckenbauer [Bayern Munich & Germany]
Franz Anton Beckenbauer (born 11 September 1945 in Munich) is a German football coach, manager, and former player, nicknamed Der Kaiser ("The Emperor") because of his elegant style, his leadership, his first name "Franz" (reminiscent of the Austrian emperors), and his dominance on the football pitch. He is generally regarded as the greatest German footballer of all time and one of the greatest and most decorated footballers in the history of the game. Beckenbauer was a versatile player who started out as a midfielder but made his name as a defender. He is often credited as having invented the role of the modern sweeper or libero. Twice selected the European Footballer of the Year, he appeared 103 times for West Germany and played in three World Cups. He lifted the World Cup trophy as captain in 1974, and repeated the feat as a manager in 1990. With the club Bayern Munich, he won three consecutive European Cups from 1974 to 1976, and the Cup Winners' Cup in 1967. Beckenbauer is one of two players (along with Carles Puyol) to captain three European Cup winning sides. He went on to become coach and president of the institution. He is also a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. In 1999, he was voted second place, behind Johan Cruyff, in the European player of the Century election held by the IFFHS and he was voted third, behind Pelé and Cruyff, in the IFFHS' "World Player of the Century" election. Art of Photography - Bruno Barbey
Bruno Barbey is a Frenchman born in Morocco. He studied photography and graphic arts at the École des Arts et Métiers in Vevey, Switzerland. Between 1961 and 1964 he photographed the Italians, treating them as protagonists of a small 'theatrical world', with the aim of capturing the spirit of a nation. During the 1960s, he was commissioned by Éditions Rencontre in Lausanne to report from European and African countries. He also contributed regularly to Vogue. Barbey began his relationship with Magnum Photos in 1964, becoming an associate member in 1966, and a full member in 1968, the year he documented the political unrest and student riots in Paris. A decade later, between 1979 and 1981, he photographed Poland at a turning point in its history, publishing his work in the widely acclaimed book Poland. Over four decades Barbey has journeyed across five continents and into numerous military conflicts. Although he rejects the label of 'war photographer', he has covered civil wars in Nigeria, Vietnam, the Middle East, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Kuwait. His work has appeared in most of the world's major magazines. Barbey is known particularly for his free and harmonious use of colour. He has frequently worked in Morocco, the country of his childhood. In 1999 the Petit Palais, Paris, organized a large exhibition of photographs that Barbey had taken in Morocco during the previous three decades. He has received many awards for his work, including the French ...

Indian Railways sight and sound spectacular
Indian Railways sight and sound spectacular
This video is a compilation of short pieces taken (with permission ) from the channels of four Indian Railway videographers. I find the Indian Railways fascinating to watch and enjoy the videos coming out of the country. It was that which prompted me to put this piece together for others to enjoy and perhaps share the amazing scenes that one sees there. There's not too many places in the railway world that you can still hear the steady chug of an ALCO , a modern EMD or the whine of a big electric all in the same place. India has got the lot. The work is compiled in no particular order of merit or favourites but simply as it was taken down from Youtube. It has been "bordered" because it was a mix of standard definition at 480p and high definition at 720p. It was edited to fit together neatly and to retain as much quality as possible for rendering at HD 720p. Some small amounts of tweaking were done to enhance contrast and exposure but it is basically as shot. Considerable tweaking was done to provide stereo sound effects. The work comes from the following Youtube channels :- www.youtube.com www.youtube.com www.youtube.com www.youtube.com I thank the guys for letting me use their work to put this together.

!!WOW!! Army National Guard Ranger Recruiting Video !!AWESOME!! HD
For questions, call me at 562 900-0575 or visit www.iguardcalifornia.com or my blog at http This video was produced by the 75th Ranger regiment for the purpose of garnering interest from current soldiers. There is a shortage of Ranger qualified soldiers and the recruiting emphasis is focused on E4's and E5's. This does not mean if you don't hold those ranks you do not qualify, but you should enlist in an infantry unit in order to have the highest order of merit. Getting to Ranger school is not easy but it is achieveable, score high on your PT test, be motivated, display leadership qualities and have a firm foundation in infantry skills and tactics. The California Army National Guard does send individuals to Ranger school and is looking for soldiers with the qualities mentioned above. If this is you, contact me and we can discuss enlistment opportunities.
