A mixed language is a language that arises through the fusion of two source languages, normally in situations of thorough bilingualism, so that it is not possible to classify the resulting language as belonging to either of the language families that were its source. Although the concept is frequently encountered in historical linguistics from the early twentieth century, attested cases of language mixture, as opposed to code-switching, substrata, or lexical borrowing, are quite rare. A mixed language may mark the appearance of a new ethnic or cultural group, such as the Métis. The fusion of more than two languages is not attested.

Definitions[link]

According to linguist Ghil'ad Zuckerman, "Every language is mixed to some extent,"^[1] but few languages are "mixed languages" in the specific sense here.

A mixed language differs from a pidgin in that the speakers developing the language are fluent, even native, speakers of both languages, whereas a pidgin develops when groups of people with little knowledge of each other's languages come into contact and have need of a basic communication system, as for trade, but do not have enough contact to learn each other's language.

In a mixed language, both source languages are clearly identifiable. This differs from a creole language, which generally has one identifiable parent, in addition to diverse input which cannot be traced to any particular language. While creoles tend to have drastically simplified morphologies, mixed languages often retain the inflectional complexities of both parent languages.

Finally, a mixed language differs from code-switching, such as Spanglish or Portuñol, in that, once it has developed, the fusion of the source languages is fixed in the grammar and vocabulary, and speakers do not need to know the source languages in order to speak it. But, linguists believe that mixed languages evolve from persistent code-switching, with younger generations picking up the code-switching, but not necessarily the source languages that generated it.

Most portmanteau language names, such as Franglais and Anglo-Romani, are not mixed languages, or even examples of code-switching, but registers of a language (here French and English), characterized by large numbers of loanwords from a second language (here English and Romani). English developed from such a situation, incorporating many Norman borrowings into Anglo-Saxon, but it is not considered a mixed language.

Genuine mixed languages include:

• Michif, a mixture of French and Cree, where the nouns and adjectives tend to be French (including agreement), and the polysynthetic verbs are entirely Cree. There are two simultaneous gender systems, French masculine/feminine as well as Cree animate/inanimate, and the Cree obviative (fourth person).
• Mednyj Aleut, a mixture of Russian and Aleut, which retains Aleut verbs but has replaced most of the inflectional endings with their Russian equivalents.
• Cappadocian Greek, comprising mostly Greek root words, but with many Turkish grammatical endings and Turkish vowel harmony, and no gender.
• Mbugu or Ma’a, an inherited East Cushitic vocabulary with a borrowed Bantu morphology in one of two registers, the other register being Bantu.
• Media Lengua, an inherited Quechua grammar and phonology with a borrowed Spanish lexicon (see relexification).
• Light Warlpiri, with Kriol verbs and verbal morphology and Warlpiri nouns and nominal morphology, in addition to numerous English loan words.
• Gurindji Kriol, which emerged from code-switching between Australian Kriol and Gurindji. This mixed language is structurally similar to Light Warlpiri.
• Erromintxela, which derives most of its lexicon from Kalderash Romani but uses Basque grammar and syntax.
• Bonin Mixed Language, of the Bonin Islands, a mixture of American English and Japanese with additional Polynesian and Melanesian influences^[2].

The histories of these languages differ. Michif and Mednyj Aleut appear to have risen through the mixture and intermarriage of two bilingual peoples, French with Cree and Russian with Aleut. Cappadocian Greek and Media Lengua, on the other hand, appear to have arisen as minority languages (Greek and Quechua) shifted under the influence of the surrounding majority language (Turkish and Spanish). While the Greek and Quechua were bilingual in Turkish and Spanish, the reverse was not true. The history of Mbugu is not known.

Possible examples include:

• Surzhyk, a mixture of Ukrainian and Russian spoken in Ukraine, especially the Central area.
• Wutunhua (a mixture of Chinese and Tibetan).
• Revived Cornish, which often uses Breton and Welsh as sources of vocabulary and guides to pronunciation and grammar.
• Chiac, a mixture of Acadian French language and English language
• Yeniche (a mixture of German, Yiddish, and Romani).
• Jopará, mixture of Guaraní and Spanish, Spanish verbs are changed to match Guaraní phonology and conjugated following Guaraní patterns.

Mike Foyle (born 3 October 1985) is a British producer, composer and DJ of progressive electronic dance music.^[1]

Mike Foyle was born in Southampton, England in October 1985. His Father is a session musician and band member playing cello, piano, bass guitar and acoustic guitar. At the age of 8, Mike began learning to play the violin. By the age of 15 and after already leading the Southampton Youth Sinfonietta Orchestra, Mike was appointed Concertmaster and first violinist for the Southampton Youth Concert Sinfonia Orchestra.^[2] Mike devoted his higher education years to studying Music and graduated from De Montfort University in Leicester with a degree in Music Technology and Innovation in 2009. Preceding this he also gained a Higher National Diploma in Music Technology at Leicester College in 2006. During his final year at University, Mike explored audio based brainwave entrainment and biofeedback combining musical textures with isochronic tones, monaural beats and binaural beats to create audio sessions which help induce sleep, gain physical motivation or aid creative inspiration.^[3]

Mike's professional career as a producer and DJ began in 2005 with the release of his debut single, "Space Guitar" on "Electronic Elements", a sub-label of Armada Music.^[4] Later in 2005, Mike released "Love Theme Dusk", a collaboration featuring the trance duo "Signalrunners". The track received regular support on BBC Radio 1 and from Armin van Buuren, who adopted the track as one of his signature playlist features, supporting it at most of his gigs over the following 6 months. "Love Theme Dusk" is considered a "Classic" amongst electronic dance music fans today. Mike began performing in clubs in 2006 after winning a DJ contest held by the promoters of Vaccine, an event brand based in London, UK. He was invited to play at Turnmills nightclub (which has since been closed) in Farringdon for his first official DJ gig. Since then Mike has toured around the world to play at festivals, clubs and private events. Mike continues to release music to this day, mainly on Armada Music, based in Amsterdam.^[5]

David Bisbal Ferré (born in Almería, Spain on June 5, 1979) is a Grammy-winning Spanish pop singer. He gained his initial fame as a runner up on the interactive reality television show Operación Triunfo.

He has since released four studio albums, all of which topped the Spanish Albums Chart, in addition to recording a number of live albums. He's toured throughout Europe and Latin America and is now considered to be a crossover international artist.

Until 2012, David Bisbal has sold more than 5 million records in Spain and America, getting 35 Platinum albums, 17 gold and 2 diamond. 'Corazón Latino' and 'Bulería' treasure each one IFPI Platinum Award, official certification for selling over 1 million copies across Europe.

[edit] Beginnings: Operación Triunfo

David Bisbal left school early and worked in a platinum and flower nursery. He was encouraged by his colleagues to audition for a music contest and he initially became part of Orquesta Expresiones where he continued singing and dancing.

In October 2001 he auditioned for the first ever edition of Operación Triunfo (Spanish equivalent of Star Academy) where he was accepted and was one of the 16 finalists. The grand prize was the chance of representing Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest. He came second in the final losing to Rosa López. She went on to sing Europe's Living a Celebration for Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 (ESC) competition.

Bisbal signed a contract with Vale Music Record label and released his first album recorded in Miami under the title "Corazón Latino" with Kike Santander. The album became 7 times platinum by summer 2002 after having topped the Spanish charts. The first single from the album, called Ave Maria, had a phenomenal success. After winning the Latin Grammys, the album went platinum (over 1 million sales).

In February 2004, he released his second album entitled "Bulería" again produced by his friend Kike Santander. It found similar success in Spain and throughout Latin America turning diamond with more than 1 million albums sold in Spain alone, becoming the best Spanish seller of 2004.

In March 2005, he also released a DVD "Todo Por Ustedes" that contained live registrations of some of his concerts in the United States, Latin America and Spain.

"Premonición" became the third studio album by David Bisbal released on 3 October 2006. By the end of its first week of release, it had achieved enough sales to be certified as 5 times platinum with sales over 400,000 copies in Spain alone.

On October 20, 2009, Bisbal released Sin Mirar Atrás, receiving positive reviews^[1] On the track "Aqui Ahora", which is features on the album Premonicion, David worked with writer/producer DJ Sammy.

Youth and early[link]

David Bisbal was born on June 5, 1979 in Almería ( Spain ), son of José Bisbal, a professional boxer and part of a trio of flamenco music, and Maria Ferre. He is the youngest of three siblings, a brother named José María and a sister named María del Mar. He loved to perform in public. During his childhood as a child showed a talent for performing, but was always very shy about doing so. He dropped out of school in third year of school(ninth year), and his father took him to work for Ranger (Gardener) at the municipal nursery in Almeria, which was his first job. Years later he met the producer of the Orchestra Expressions, who discovered David singing, and after listening to and discovering his vocal quality, offered him employment as the main voice of the orchestra. David began working there in the Orchestra Expressions, a band very popular Almeria. He gradually began to develop as a singer, and to discover his passion for music. Having been in the orchestra, David went to the auditions for Pop Idol, in Barcelona, Spain. Alexander Draper "Alex" Wolff (born November 1, 1997) is an American child actor and musician, currently playing in Nat and Alex Wolff. He is best known for his role as himself on the Nickelodeon series The Naked Brothers Band, also starring his older brother, Nat Wolff; the series was created by the boys' mother, Polly Draper. He also guest starred on Monk, in the episode Mr. Monk Goes Camping. He is also the boy played in the beginning of Fall Out Boy's music video for "The Take Over, The Break's Over"

Wolff was born in Manhattan, New York. He is the son of actress and screenwriter Polly Draper and jazz pianist and composer Michael Wolff, and is the younger brother of singer-songwriter, keyboardist, and actor Nat Wolff. Sean Forbes (born on February 5, 1982 in Detroit) is a deaf American hip-hop artist. Sean's parents bought him a drumset when he was 5 years old ^[1] and he started writing songs and playing guitar when he was 10. Sean attended R.I.T./N.T.I.D where he discovered that like himself many others who are deaf and hard-of-hearing loved music. Sean recently had Oscar award winning actress Marlee Matlin co-star in his music video for the song "Let's Mambo."

Sean is prominently featured on "Motor City Rising" a television show on the Ovation (TV Channel) about artists from Detroit.

Sean will soon be releasing a full-length CD/DVD album titled "Perfect Imperfection"
