Hundreds of Egyptians protested outside the Saudi embassy in Cairo on Tuesday to demand the release of an Egyptian lawyer detained in Saudi Arabia for allegedly insulting the Kingdom's monarch. Ahmed el Gizawy was arrested earlier this week upon arrival in Saudi Arabia. News about the sentence being passed against Gizawy to serve a year in prison and receive 20 lashes was quickly circulated. Protesters chanted slogans against the saudi regime as they called for the immediate release of al Gizawi who was visiting the kingdom to perform an Islamic religious rite. The demonstrators also called for the expulsion of the Saudi Ambassador to Cairo a move which many here deem as a sign of soaring tensions between the two countries. The Saudi Ambassador to Cairo Ahmed Adel Aziz Qattan said Gizawi was arrested for trying to smuggle illegal substances to the kingdom and that he regrets the misinformation that was published in the media. However, Egyptian protesters refused to believe the Saudi version of the case asserting that mistreating Egyptian nationals in Saudi Arabia cannot be tolerated and it is a matter of national pride. Anti-Saudi sentiments have flared up here in Egypt as hundreds of Egyptian nationals are reportedly being mistreated or encountering miscarriage of justice in the courts of the Kingdom.

1 dead, 120 injured in St. Louis tent collapse during violent storm One man is dead, five others critically injured after powerful winds upended a huge tent outside a downtown St. Louis bar, sending tent poles flying through the crowd. The accident happened around 4 pm Saturday afternoon as power storms thundered through the St. Louis, Missouri area. Witnesses say more than two-hundred people, many who had attended the Cardinals baseball game at the nearby Busch Stadium, were packed into the large tent at Kilroy's Sports Bar listening to music when the winds hit. One witness told News 4 that the music in the tent was so loud that no one heard the storm coming. When the tent ripped from its moorings tent poles were sent flying wildly through the crowd hitting many people in the head. The tent ended up hanging from a nearby train trestle. One person was killed, five others critically injured, 17 people rushed to the hospital and another 100 men and women were treated for minor injuries. Authorities have not released the identity of the man who was killed. According to the Associated Press, Art Randall, the owner of Kilroy's, says firefighters told him that the man was killed by lightning, not flying debris. News 4 has not been able to confirm that information. Investigators are now at the scene trying move the tent and figure out exactly what happened.

Video published on Apr 28, 2012 by AlJazeeraEnglish. www.aljazeera.com Text published on Apr 28, 2012 by Daily Mail, www.dailymail.co.uk Nicolas Sarkozy's dwindling hopes of being re-elected to the French presidency were last night rocked by new evidence that Colonel Gaddafi donated £42 million to the campaign that brought him to power. French law bans candidates from receiving cash payments above £6300, but a news website claimed that the massive donation was laundered through bank accounts in Panama and Switzerland. Mr Sarkozy is now under huge pressure to explain himself in the light of what his opponents called compelling evidence. A document made public in Paris is said to show that the French leader and the former Libyan dictator made an illegal financial deal that propelled Mr Sarkozy to power in 2007. Written in Arabic and signed by Mussa Kussa, Gaddafi's intelligence chief, in 2006, it refers to an 'agreement in principle to support the campaign for the candidate for the presidential elections, Nicolas Sarkozy, for a sum equivalent to €50 million'. It comes as Sarkozy faces an uphill battle to be re-elected president in a week's time, with his Socialist rival Francois Hollande enjoying an opinion poll lead of up to ten per cent. A bundle of incriminating evidence has been leaked by senior members of the National Transitional Council, the organisation now governing Libya, to Left-wing investigative French news site Mediapart. Attack on Police in Kandahar Stirs Panic. KABUL, Afghanistan — At least four gunmen wearing vests with explosives in them attacked police headquarters in the southern city of Kandahar on Saturday, the third such attack since the start of the year in the strategically important city. The assault, a complex operation involving several car bombs and a battery of rocket-propelled grenades, killed at least 19 people, most of them police officers, according to Afghan officials and witnesses. The attack caused near panic in central Kandahar as residents, hearing the heavy gunfire and explosions, fled the area and the police cordoned off all the roads into downtown. The fighting continued for nearly five hours before the police succeeded in killing three would-be suicide bombers and wounding and detaining a fourth, according to Afghan police officials. An American military spokesman said that it was likely that a fifth attacker drove the bomb-laden vehicle that exploded first. "Today, a big tragedy happened in Kandahar City," said Tooryalai Wesa, the provincial governor. He said the attackers took shelter in a wedding hall near the police headquarters, firing rockets and lobbing grenades from there. Three of the rockets hit the headquarters, he said, while another hit a nearby school, wounding nine students. The governor strongly condemned the attack and sought to reassure residents. "Now the city is under control; the security personnel are looking for more suspects' cars," he ...

Police unleashed tear gas and chemical-laced water at thousands of protesters who staged one of Malaysia's largest street rallies in years on Saturday. The protesters were demanding fair rules for national elections expected soon. Authorities were seen detaining dozens of people, and officials said three protesters and 20 police officers were injured. At least 25-thousand people took to the streets of Malaysia's largest city, Kuala Lumpur, hoping to pressure Prime Minister Najib Razak's ruling coalition - which has held power for nearly 55 years - to overhaul electoral policies before polls that could be held as early as June. This incisive report asks: what does a future with the Taliban mean for Afghanistan? "For them it's not a peace process", Amrullah Saleh, former head of Afghan Intelligence tells us. A Taliban prisoner concurs, "if the foreign troops leave, the Taliban will come back to Kabul". Saleh is adamant that the Taliban's "maximalist agenda" will lead to civil war once the West leaves Afghanistan and that the Afghan government participating in empty talks serves no other purpose than political expediency. "Peace talks with the Taliban have always been used to demonstrate to the international community that President Karzai is one step ahead", Fawzia Koofi explains. An MP and single mother, she refuses to be cowed by Taliban aggression, despite facing death threats. A classified Nato report, based on 27000 interrogations, not only states that the Taliban believe their control of Afghanistan is inevitable, but also highlights the links between the Taliban and Pakistan.
