Olimpia Basketball Club, mostly known as Olimpia de Venado Tuerto (Spanish pronunciation: [oˈlimpja ðe βeˈnaðo ˈtwerto]) is an Argentine basketball club based in the city of Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe Province.
The club was established on August 26, 1940 in Barrio San Martín of Venado Tuerto. In 1991 the team promoted to Liga Nacional de Básquetbol, the top division of basketball league system. In the 1994-95 Olimpia reached the finals, being finally beat by Club Sportivo Independiente.
Olimpia won its first LNB title in 1995-96. The roster for that season was: Alejandro Montecchia, Walter Guiñazú, Federico Helale, Jorge Racca, Leonardo Gutiérrez, Lucas Victoriano, Sebastián Uranga, Todd Jadlow, Andrés Rodríguez, Carlos López Jordan, Alejandro Burgos, and Michael Lamont Wilson. The team was coached by Horacio Seguí while Jorge Racca was named league's MVP. That same year, Olimpia also won the South American League after defeating Brazilian team Corinthians at the final.
Venado Tuerto (Spanish pronunciation: [beˈnaðo ˈtwerto]) is a city in the south-west of the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, 322 km from the provincial capital. It has about 70,000 inhabitants (2001 census [INDEC]).
Venado Tuerto was founded on April 26, 1884 by Eduardo Casey, born in Lobos, Buenos Aires, in 1847. He was the son of two Irish immigrants who had amassed considerable wealth. Casey bought a large extension of land from where the natives had been recently expelled, to be employed for farming and horse breeding.
The name of the town literally means one-eyed deer, and its origin is unknown, though several folk legends circulate around it. In any case, it was not considered tasteful by some, and on several occasions a change was formally requested, mainly to 'Ciudad Casey' ('Casey City'), though never carried out.
The town was declared a city on December 16, 1935. As of 2008 its Mayor is José Luis Freyre, of the Justicialist Party.
1996 (MCMXCVI) was a leap year starting on Monday (dominical letter GF) of the Gregorian calendar, the 1996th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 996th year of the 2nd millennium, the 96th year of the 20th century, and the 7th year of the 1990s decade.
1996 was designated as:
Panathinaikos Athlitikos Omilos (Greek: Παναθηναϊκός Αθλητικός Όμιλος, literally in English: Panathenaic Athletic Club or Panathinaikos AC) is a major Greek multi-sport club based in the City of Athens. It has the trifolium (shamrock) as its official emblem, symbol of harmony, unity, nature, and good luck. Green (usually used dark shades of the colour by the club) and white are their colours (green for health, youth and nature, such as physiolatry, and white for virtue). Panathinaikos is one of the most successful multi-sport club and one of the oldest clubs in Greece. The name "Panathinaikos" (which can literally be translated as "Panathenaic", which means "of all Athens") was inspired by the ancient work of Isocrates Panathenaicus, where the orator praise the Athenians for their democratic education and their military superiority, which use it for benefit of all Greeks.
It was founded by Giorgos Kalafatis in 1908 as a football club, when he and 40 other athletes decided to break away from Panellinios Gymnastikos Syllogos following the club's decision to discontinue its football team. It is amongst the most popular clubs in the country and one of the biggest worldwide, based on the number of its sports departments. It is the club that introduced in Greece a number of sports, as it was the first, or amongst the first teams, in football, basketball, volleyball, field hockey, table tennis and handball, while they were also pioneer in the creation of women's teams in basketball and football.
Real Madrid Club de Fútbol (Spanish pronunciation: [reˈal maˈðɾið ˈkluβ ðe ˈfuðβol]; Royal Madrid Football Club), commonly known as Real Madrid, or simply as Real, is a professional football club based in Madrid, Spain.
Founded in 1902 as Madrid Football Club, the team has traditionally worn a white home kit since inception. The word Real is Spanish for Royal and was bestowed to the club by King Alfonso XIII in 1920 together with the royal crown in the emblem. The team has played its home matches in the 81,044-capacity Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in downtown Madrid since 1947. Unlike most European sporting entities, Real Madrid's members (socios) have owned and operated the club throughout its history.
The club is the most valuable sports team in the world, worth €2.5 billion ($3.4 billion) and the world's highest-earning football club for 2013–14, with an annual revenue of €549.5 million. The club is one of the most widely supported teams in the world. Real Madrid is one of three founding members of the Primera División that have never been relegated from the top division, along with Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona. The club holds many long-standing rivalries, most notably El Clásico with Barcelona and the El Derbi madrileño with Atlético Madrid.

Since 1988, eight Greek teams had played in six Final Fours and advanced to title games in 1994 and 1995. But only in 1996 could Greek basketball finally claim its first continental title at a club level, thanks to a dramatic win by Panathinaikos at the Final Four in Paris. To get there, the Greens had signed Bozidar Maljkovic, the coach who had already won two titles with Jugoplastika and one with Limoges. As every year, there were some newcomers in the competition, such as Unicaja Malaga of Spain, Iraklis of Greece and Olimpique Antibes of France. CSKA and Barcelona ended as their respective group leaders with 10-4 records, and beat their rivals in the quarterfinals round, Barca against Ulker (2-0) and CSKA against Pau-Orthez (2-1), just like Real Madrid eliminated Olympiacos by 2-1 as w...
