AAC vs MP3 @ 64kbps
AAC vs MP3 @ 64kbps
HE AAC vs MP3 at 64kbps...... i encoded this video with h.264 video codec! listen and pay attension to the difference in the cymbals between the two, especially the High-Hat!! The MP3 version should sound muddled distorted and should also make a swooshing sound, wille the AAC version should sound crisp and clean almost like Linear-PCM, but its not its HE AAC!! I used HE AAC so its kinda of an unfair competition against mp3 because HE AAC is supper efficiant at compreesing.

Kingsley AAC Vantage Lite Proves Successfull!.
Kingsley AAC Vantage Lite Proves Successfull!.
Kingsley's communication is accelerating lately with his Vantage Lite - it's a great system and he loves it! He switches easily between Minspeak and spelling. His long sentences don't always make perfect sense - but it's good he's extending himself and constantly improving. He self corrects (eg. 'yourself' to 'myself') with very little or no prompting - because it's so easy for him to do! This device has made my job so much easier - I just have to listen and follow the conversation*. It's exciting to watch him learning to use words like 'both', 'each', 'yet', etc. He's doing so much more than was possible on the old Springboard. He got this Vantage Lite ~ 4mths ago, but we had a fairly slow transition away from the old Springboard because he liked using both. We mentioned Deal, where we went for a special meeting with the new support person from Liberator, Sue Ash. Big thanks to Leslie, Rosie and Sue - an excellent support team, which is essential! * Listening and following the conversation - it may be counter intuitive, but the fact is that the less we say (and the less we control him), the more he says. You'll see near the end when I start to control the conversation that he becomes more repetitive. He's a chatterbox using his Vantage Lite most of the day like this, but it's only 3 or 4 days per week when he's with me. The other half of the week it doesn't get used - he's being denied his communication because his mother and his special school don't give him enough ...

Plano DSYHL mini-mite shootout at the AAC 03/12/10
My son Josh participating in the Mini-Mite Shoot Out at the AAC during the 1st period break of the Stars vs Kings game on March 13, 2010. These kids are 5 to 7 yr olds in the Dallas Stars Youth Hockey League and the Dallas Stars were so gracious to allow these little players to experience a shootout in front of thousands of NHL fans. It is one of the unique benefits of playing in the DSYHL league. My little one is the #23 goalie in green jersey. He is only 5yrs old and had just one practice session on ice with the pads. I had him remember just 3 important points: 1) Stay on the crease - challenge the shooter and make them shoot wide and too early 2) Keep the paddle in front of the 5-hole and the catcher high, keeping the stick-elbow up high so the paddle rests flat on the ice. 3) Face the puck where ever its at (he was tested on this when facing the second skater and did well!) The pads and stick were a bit big, but then he borrowed them from his older brother (8yr old) who played a season as goalie. He had a real hard time with butterfly drops (pads too wide) so opted to play "stand-up" style. Josh is a huge fan of Steve Ott, Marty Turco, and Mike Modano but wants to play for either the Mighty Ducks or the Penguins (Mostly since he thinks their jerseys look pretty cool). Although he loves to shoot on net and practices just about every day after school perfecting his roofing shots, he jumped all over the chance to play as goalie for this shoot-out. Go figure! Many thanks ...

Kingsley AAC Vantage Lite does grammar, but doesn't want to talk about teeth!
Kingsley is using his old Springboard, and we are trying out the Vantage Lite, learning Minspeak 60 grid. Comparing these two very different PRC devices - which one is faster? which one is easier? can he learn to use Minspeak? His bossy dad (me) gets excited about doing a grammar drill! (The clunky Springboard doesn't allow for much grammar - you have to use 'best fit'). Kingsley learns fast on the Vantage Lite, combining spelling and Minspeak easily. But he doesn't want to talk about losing 2 teeth in 2 days, he'd rather talk about his favorite subject - food!

Brighton Bulldogs (MI) 1997 Football Highlight Tape (Intro)
Brighton Bulldogs (MI) 1997 Football Highlight Tape (Intro)
My 10 year high school is coming up next month (YIKES!) and I started to get a tad bit nostalgic about the days of my youth. I decided to pop in my high school football highlight film from my senior year and watch a little bit of it. Then I had this super sick idea to put it up on the web so everyone could enjoy it. About 6 or 7 years ago my dad transferred all of our family 8mm and VHS tapes to DVD in order to save them from future deterioration. This was one of the videos he got transferred, which is how I can bring this to you today (1997 = No homemade DVD's). This video here is the introduction to the highlight tape. It comprises clips from all the games during that season (9-0 regular season, ranked #1 in the state). The music is straight outta the mid-late 90's and features I believe all the songs from the first two ESPN Jock Jams albums (LOL). Also, this part features every single video effect you could possibly do at this time. I am sorry if some parts make you feel nauseous. About the quality of the video: These videos were taken with old school camcorders that recorded directly to a VHS tape. Therefore, quality is an issue with this video(s). I transferred from the master DVD a digital copy that was double encoded to try and ensure the best possible quality. Each video segment was then cut from this copy and encoded as an H.264 file with HE AAC 64b/sec sound for the best possible video for YouTube. Persons of Interest: *If anyone has a problem with me naming ...
