POETRY KIT - A major poetry writers resource site with over 5000 unique visitors each day. Numerous listings including publishers, competitions, courses, funding, events, festivals and magazine listings. It also holds a Who's Who in Poetry and a listing of blogs and poets on the internet.  Home of the internet based "Poetry Kit Magazine" and a monthly newsletter of competitions and events round the world.

 

We welcome listings submitted for our database for the following;

We list all types of competition in the following format.

Essex Poetry Festival 6th Open Poetry Competition Adjudicator: Jackie Wills. Prize-giving will be on Saturday 21st October 2006 at the Essex Poetry
Festival.  Winners & runners-up will be invited to read their winning poems at the
festival.  Winning poems will be published on the Festival website

    JIM BENNETT (LEFT) MEETING HRH THE PRINCE EDWARD IN NOV 2004 AFTER

    The Managing Editor of Poetry Kit is Jim Bennett who had been Poetry Editor for Poetry Kit for a number of years and took over in January 2004 after the death of Ted Slade. Details of Jim's new collection of poetry can be found here.  An interview with Jim can be found here

      

    TED SLADE 1939 - 2004

    FOUNDER AND EDITOR OF POETRY KIT

    Ted Slade picTed Slade trained as a metallurgist, since when he has worked in public relations, journalism, computing, marketing, the export business, and information systems design. In 1997 he took early retirement from Kingston University, and now spends his time editing The Poetry Kit, writing poetry, doing volunteer computer consultancy for charities. His poems have been published in the Flarestack anthology 'Mr Henderson and Mrs Haut-Sinclair', the chapbook anthology 'Best of MAP Featured Poetry Volume 3', Nightingale, Obsessed With Pipework, Pause, Pennine Platform, Poetry News, Poetry Life (recommended poet), Still, Staple New Writing, Transparent Words, Worm, and performed at the Purcell Room on London's South Bank. His poem 'Cartography' was a winner of the 'One Heart, One World 2001' international competition for disabled poets. His pamphlet collection 'The Last Arm Pointing' is published by Flarestack.  More about Ted Slade, and some of his poems, can be found at featured poet page
