Welcome to the homepage of the Melbourne Local of the Anarcho Syndicalist Federation. The ASF is an organisation whose goal is to develop a workers' movement based on libertarian, revolutionary principles and tactics of organisation and action.

We believe that the traditional reliance of the union movement on parliamentarism and on a union bureaucracy separated from the workers it supposedly represents has had its day. We believe that the workers in control of their own union are the only people who will properly defend the interests of workers. We have no faith in supposedly labour politicians or in union bosses. We want to develop a different kind of unionism, one which is run by the workers themselves, for themselves.

For that reason we try to develop the practise of solidarity between rank and file workers, direct action at the point of production and self-management of our daily affairs. These are, in a nutshell, the goals of our organisation and they are what we try to promote collectively as the ASF.
